Chapter 950 If You Do Not Leave, I Will Certainly Not Abandon!
They'd been married for a while now, and she'd given him kids. But right now, her heart was just bursting with emotion.
Meeting someone you love was a truly fortunate occurrence.
"Penelope, you always say you never had a real romance, never got to enjoy a proper courtship. No proposal, no wedding," Kelvin looked at her with deep affection. "I get what you're thinking, and you're right. I wanted to make up for all that, but you never let me."
"I always hoped you'd ask more of me, tell me what you wanted, show me where I could do better... but you never did. You were always so easily satisfied."
"I don't think of myself as a lucky guy, but meeting you? That was the luckiest thing ever. Penelope, I love you, truly."
"I, Kelvin, won't marry anyone but you in this life. No one can replace you, and no one can be you. In my heart, you'll always be the Penelope I first met."
As he spoke, Kelvin's voice got thick with emotion, a hint of a sob breaking through.
"There's something I've never said to you, and you've never answered, but we've both shown it through our actions."
"Now, Penelope, I want to say it out loud, to ask you formally."
"Will you marry me?"
Even though his voice was choked and his eyes were red, Kelvin's hand holding the ring was steady, not a hint of a tremble.
"Say yes, say yes!" Lucy clapped her hands, jumping with joy. "Mommy, say yes! Marry Daddy!"
"Mom, nod your head, say you will! Kelvin... he's a good guy."
Penelope's vision was already blurred, and with a gentle blink, tears began to fall.
She took a deep breath and extended her hand. "I will."
Kelvin's lips curled into a smile, his eyes filled with her.
"I, Penelope, will marry Kelvin," she said, word by word. "No matter what happens, I will always stand by your side. If you don't leave, I won't either!"
Kelvin held up the ring. "Penelope, remember what you said. You must always stay by my side, always."
He would never leave her, and he couldn't abandon her, so she couldn't leave him either!
He was reminding her, once again, expressing his feelings.
From the beginning, Kelvin had never looked down on her.
Penelope understood the deeper meaning in his words, her heart trembling.
She wanted to pull her hand back.
She had made mistakes, she had wronged him... but Kelvin didn't give her the chance to withdraw.
He was quick and firm, swiftly slipping the grass ring onto her ring finger.
"The ring is on, you're mine now," Kelvin said. "The ring finger leads to the heart, Penelope. I'll always be in your heart, and you'll always be in mine."
He lowered his head, placing a kiss on the ring.
His lips brushed against her skin, warm and fervent.
The grass ring fit perfectly, neither too big nor too small, snugly on Penelope's ring finger.
"How does it fit so well?" Kelvin was a bit surprised. "Sam, did you measure her finger?"
Sam nodded. "Of course. The ring has to fit just right, not too big or too small."
"Smart kid."
No wonder he was his son; when he did something, he did it perfectly!
Even Penelope was surprised, not expecting this seemingly ordinary grass ring to fit her finger so well!
"Sam, when did you measure it?" she asked. "I didn't even notice."
"That's a secret," Sam said, tilting his head. "Alright, alright, that's not important. Now, Kelvin can kiss Mom!"
Lucy chimed in, "Yeah! Daddy can kiss Mommy now!"
Then, out of nowhere, the two of them produced handfuls of flower petals, tossing them into the air.
The scent filled the air.
Penelope felt a bit shy... how could they kiss in front of the kids?
Kelvin had already wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace, lowering his head to find her lips.
"The kids are watching..." she whispered.
"They'll close their eyes."
As he spoke, Kelvin's lips met hers.
His kiss swallowed Penelope's words.
Nearby, Sam covered Lucy's eyes. "No peeking!"
Lucy covered Sam's eyes in return. "You can't peek either!"
They both covered each other's eyes tightly, guarding against the other seeing anything!
The surroundings fell silent.
At first, Sam and Lucy stood still, not moving an inch. But as time went on... they both grew restless.
Is it over yet?
How much longer?
Couldn't Mom and Dad consider the feelings of their two underage kids?
But then again, they had planned this whole thing, so they couldn't exactly rush them.
So... Sam and Lucy couldn't stand still any longer, and their hands couldn't stay put.
After waiting and waiting, Sam leaned over and whispered in Lucy's ear, "I'll count to three, and we'll both take our hands down, okay?"
"Okay."
They happily agreed.
"Alright, three, two..."
Before he could say "one," Sam suddenly felt weightless, lifted into the air.
Next to him, Lucy let out a surprised yelp, "Ah!"
Kelvin had picked up Sam, and Penelope had picked up Lucy.
"Mommy," Lucy happily clung to Penelope's neck. "Are you happy now?"
"Very happy."
Lucy played with the white veil. "Mommy looks so pretty with it on, even prettier than I imagined."
"That's because Lucy made it herself."
Lucy gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Nearby, Kelvin and Sam, father and son, stared at each other.
You look at me, I look at you.
Sam definitely wasn't going to wrap his arms around Kelvin's neck and give him a kiss.
Kelvin wouldn't accept that either.
But what could they do? The bond between father and son... it needed some form of expression!
"Thanks for the ring," Kelvin said. "I'll remember this."
"You're welcome, it's what I should do, since you're my dad."
"Calling me Dad now?"
Sam replied, "I'm not calling you, I'm stating a fact. You are my dad, we have a blood connection that can't be changed."
"Since you've done well," Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "I'll grant you one wish. Anything you want."
Whatever Sam asked for, he would make it happen.
Even though Sam was stubborn and wouldn't admit defeat, he still cared deep down.
