Chapter 927 Two Unconscious People Cannot Have Sexual Relations
"I really don't remember anything..." Penelope said, her voice heavy with sorrow.
In Kelvin's arms, Penelope cried her heart out.
She let all her emotions out, sobbing and wailing, while Kelvin held her quietly.
He was relieved to see her like this, expressing everything, letting it all out. He didn't want her to bottle up her feelings, pretending to be calm and composed while silently digesting all the negativity.
It was better to talk about it and cry it out.
This was the first time Kelvin didn't wipe away Penelope's tears.
He let her cry.
Once she cried enough, she would feel a bit better.
But Kelvin still couldn't bear to hear her cries, his own eyes slowly reddening.
At this moment, he couldn't afford to be weak or timid. He needed to be strong for Penelope, to create a safe haven for her.
Kelvin closed his eyes, resting his chin on the top of her head, gently patting her back.
Gradually, Penelope's sobs grew quieter.
"Penelope," he said softly, "we haven't figured everything out yet. Don't jump to conclusions. Two unconscious people can't have sex. Unless Brandon wasn't actually unconscious and was awake."
Penelope choked out, "He passed out before I did. I saw it with my own eyes. I didn't even have time to check on him before I started feeling dizzy and couldn't stand..."
Kelvin's eyes flashed with anger.
Brandon's plan was flawless! He completely gained Penelope's trust while absolving himself of any responsibility!
It seemed Brandon's attempt to ruin his relationship with Penelope with intimate photos had failed, so he quickly moved on to this new scheme!
Did Brandon want Penelope that badly?
Was this love?
It was clearly a selfish desire, a need to possess her, without any genuine concern for Penelope's feelings!
"Penelope, get some rest, sleep well," Kelvin said. "I've already sent people to investigate everything. I'll let you know as soon as we have any progress or results."
He comforted her gently.
Penelope didn't respond or refuse.
Kelvin looked down at her, seeing the tears on her eyelashes.
Without thinking, he leaned in and gently kissed away the tears.
Then... his lips slowly moved down, finding hers, and kissed her.
He wanted to show her through his actions that he didn't think she was dirty or unworthy of him.
It was only her own perception.
Penelope turned her head, trying to avoid him.
At this moment... she didn't want to kiss Kelvin!
She felt unworthy even to be in his arms!
But the more Penelope tried to escape, the more determined Kelvin was to kiss her!
He held her head firmly, gripping her chin, kissing her bit by bit.
"Kelvin..."
"Silence."
"No, please..."
"Penelope."
Kelvin's words were gentle, but his actions were strong and assertive.
As Penelope's body slowly relaxed and softened, he became tender, savoring the kiss.
Penelope clung weakly to his shoulders.
She knew this deep, lingering kiss wasn't just about the kiss itself. It was his way of letting her know.
He was there; he still loved her.
In his heart, in his actions, there was no rejection of her.
Penelope thought that how did she deserve such a wonderful husband?
After their passionate embrace.
"Get some sleep, rest up, and regain your strength," Kelvin said as he tucked her in. "Penelope, you don't want Sam and Lucy to see you like this when they come back, do you? They'd be worried sick."
Thinking of her two children, Penelope felt a flicker of strength return to her fragile heart.
She was a mother; she had children.
If they divorced, what would happen to Sam and Lucy?
Would they have to choose between their mom and dad?
"Alright," Kelvin saw through her thoughts, "don't overthink it. If you need anything, come find me in the study."
Penelope nodded.
Kelvin held her hand, finding it cold.
He warmed it up before leaving the master bedroom.
Penelope lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.
The familiar bedroom, the familiar scene, the comforting scent in the air.
But she was afraid to sleep; she couldn't fall asleep... she was terrified that when she opened her eyes, she would be somewhere else.
Penelope wondered... did she really have sex with Brandon?
All signs pointed to her and Brandon no longer being just friends, but Kelvin's words made sense. How could they have had sex if both were unconscious?
Paul and Thessaly, that was because Paul was awake.
Unless Brandon wasn't unconscious?
But that seemed impossible.
Her mind was a mess, and the situation was chaotic. Penelope thought and thought, curling up into a ball, and eventually drifted into sleep.
In the study.
Kelvin stood with his hands behind his back, his anger palpable, making it impossible for anyone to approach or look directly at him.
"Mr. Davis."
An assistant walked in.
"Speak," Kelvin didn't move, "what did you find out?"
The assistant reported, "The restaurant's surveillance was completely destroyed, beyond repair, just static. The hotel, being old and in a rundown area, had unclear footage, making it impossible to make out anything. So..."
"So what? No leads? Nothing found?"
The assistant shivered, quickly saying, "We interrogated the hotel owner. He couldn't give us any useful information, saying he didn't remember, the lighting was too dim, there were too many people..."
Kelvin suddenly turned, his gaze piercing.
The assistant lowered his head, "It's my fault, I failed to do my job!"
"Useless," Kelvin cursed, "you're all useless!"
At a critical moment, they couldn't find anything!
"What about Brandon?" Kelvin asked coldly, "What did he do after leaving the hotel? Where did he go?"
"Brandon took Thessaly home, then returned to the Walker Mansion and hasn't left since."
"He still had the leisure to take Thessaly home..."
Because Thessaly was his pawn!
With Thessaly's dinner invitation, Penelope agreed to go, came to the restaurant, giving Brandon the opportunity to act.
Before... Kelvin had suspected Thessaly, wondering if she was working with Brandon to help him get Penelope.
But after learning that Thessaly was raped by Paul last night, he realized Thessaly was the true victim.
Brandon wasn't!
Brandon was the mastermind! The one who orchestrated everything!
Thessaly was completely unaware and was used by Brandon as a pawn!
But now, the most difficult issue was that Brandon had positioned himself as a victim, gaining the trust of Penelope and Thessaly.
Paul became a womanizer.
