Chapter 936 Thessaly, Do You Like Brandon?

"Not only that," Penelope said softly, "he even thinks nothing happened between Brandon and me... He wants to find out the truth and gather solid evidence."

"That's great, he's always got your back, thinking about you."

"But I don't deserve his trust. Now, every time I close my eyes, all I can think about is..."

Thessaly replied bitterly, "Same here. I wish I could just get rid of Paul, that jerk! And yet, I still have to work with him on this movie."

"Can't you just drop out?" Penelope asked seriously. "Thessaly, you're now an artist under Davis Group, the only signed star. That's a big deal in the entertainment industry. I can help you secure better gigs, more scripts... We don't have to do Paul's movie!"

Thessaly stayed silent.

"Please? I can get you more, I promise. You can even sue Paul for his behavior! I'll have Davis Group's top lawyer help..."

Before Penelope could finish, Thessaly shook her head.

"Why?" Penelope's voice was very soft. "Are you scared? With me here, there's nothing to fear."

Kelvin protected her, and she protected Thessaly.

Penelope's words moved Thessaly deeply.

They had met by chance and didn't know each other well, yet Penelope had helped her sincerely on numerous occasions!

At that moment, Thessaly thought, Penelope was someone she would protect with all her might!

Seeing that Thessaly still didn't respond, Penelope felt guilty. "Thessaly, it's my fault..."

"Don't say that. I don't blame you, it's not your fault. You've already done so much, don't let my issues burden you further."

Penelope pressed on, "Then, are you afraid of troubling me?"

"It's not that," Thessaly said. "If I sue... Penelope, the whole entertainment industry will know that I had a sexual relationship with Paul."

Penelope hadn't thought of that.

Yes, right now, only a few people knew, and it wouldn't leak out.

But if they went to court and had Paul arrested... it would become public!

Given Thessaly's fame, this would explode online, drawing massive attention. Her reputation would be ruined, and many actresses would be waiting to step on her and take her resources!

"I'm sorry, Thessaly," Penelope apologized. "I didn't think it through."

"You were just trying to help me."

"So, what are you going to do? Continue filming Paul's movie?"

Thessaly suddenly laughed at herself. "I want to do this movie because the script is great, and I love the character. Additionally, because Brandon invested in it, it has nothing to do with Paul."

Penelope understood her liking of the character and the script.

But what did Brandon's investment have to do with it?

Thessaly saw through Penelope's thoughts, and her mocking smile deepened. "You don't get it, do you? Brandon is just an investor. Changing the investor wouldn't affect me... Why would I want to do this movie because of Brandon?"

"Could it be..." Penelope thought of a possibility.

But she hesitated to say it, fearing it would make Thessaly uncomfortable.

Thessaly saw through her thoughts again. "Yeah, exactly what you're thinking."

Penelope said it directly, "Thessaly, do you have a thing for Brandon?"

"It's not about liking or not. It's just a bit of a crush. He's an amazing guy—charming, polite, considerate, well-spoken, cultured, wealthy, and handsome... What woman wouldn't be interested?"

"I get it," Penelope replied. "Brandon is pretty much perfect in a lot of ways. Honestly, he's probably more suited for a relationship and marriage than Kelvin because he's kind, gentle, and caring."

"Yeah, Penelope, do you think... I'm a fickle, promiscuous woman?"

Penelope shook her head. "No, I don't think that at all."

Thessaly lowered her eyes, looking really distressed.

"When Mr. Davis gave me his coat at dinner that night, I was moved, but morality and reason suppressed my feelings. Because Mr. Davis is your husband, and I couldn't possibly take him from you."

"But Brandon is different. He's single, he's amazing, he's good to me. Sometimes... we have interactions that go beyond friendship."

"For example, he opens the car door for me, and he picks me up. Sometimes, a casual remark from him seems ordinary, but when I think about it, it feels like he likes me, too. We've been interacting like this for a while now."

"And now..."

Thessaly clutched her hair helplessly. "How could I possibly deserve him now? I don't even dare to have that thought!"

"Penelope, tell me, am I wrong? Is it bad? Always falling for men, loving one after another..."

She was confused, having gone through so much, with no one to rely on or confide in, except Penelope.

Penelope looked at her with gentle but firm eyes. "Thessaly, you're not wrong at all."

"Really?"

Thessaly clung to her words like a drowning person grasping a lifeline.

"Really. It's normal for a single woman to be attracted to an excellent man. It's instinct, it's natural. But beyond instinct and nature, people have morals. So, you suppressed your admiration for Kelvin," Penelope said. "As for Brandon and you... I think you're a great match. You can freely love each other."

Thessaly replied bitterly, "I know you've been subtly trying to set us up."

"Yeah, you like him, and he likes you. If you get together, it would be a wonderful relationship."

"Penelope, that's the ideal scenario. But now, I'm not good enough for Brandon. He has no shortage of excellent women around him, wealthy, well-behaved ladies waiting for him to choose. How could I stand out?"

If nothing had happened between her and Paul, Thessaly's personality would have allowed her to pursue her love.

Brandon treated her well, and though she wasn't sure if he liked her, spending more time together would eventually yield a response.

But now, Thessaly didn't even have the right to pursue him.

Penelope said, "You're amazing, Thessaly. You're very talented, not lacking in any way. You're a star in the spotlight, admired by many. You have the looks and the figure. You're not lacking at all."
