Chapter 951 My Wish Is for Kelvin to Love You Well

Sam was a chip off the old block when it came to Kelvin.

They were father and son, after all, and their personalities and tempers were cut from the same cloth!

"Sam," Lucy chimed in, "This is a golden opportunity. Just say the word, and it's yours!"

Penelope watched Sam eagerly, curious about what he'd wish for.

After all, he was already reaching for the stars.

Sam's eyes sparkled with mischief as he grinned, "Dad, are you really gonna grant any wish I make?"

Kelvin caught the sly look in his son's eyes and felt a twinge of unease.

"Yeah, anything I can manage," he replied, "But don't go asking for the moon."

"How crazy could I get? You're my dad, and I'm banking on taking over the family business. I wouldn't want to tick you off!"

Kelvin was at a loss for words.

Alright, so the kid was all about the family business.

But with Sam's drive, the Davis Group would definitely thrive under his leadership, becoming a global powerhouse!

Sam clapped Kelvin on the shoulder, "I wanna sit on your shoulders and see the world from up there!"

Kelvin was caught off guard.

Penelope was surprised too.

All this fuss... for such a simple request?

"Are you serious?" Kelvin asked, "That's really your wish?"

He had offered Sam a wish, anything he wanted, and he was ready to make it happen.

He thought Sam would ask for something big, something that would take effort, connections, or a ton of time and money.

But to everyone's surprise, it was so simple!

It could be done right away!

"Yep, I'm serious," Sam said, "Why the face? What's wrong? You don't wanna? I just wanna sit on your shoulders, not stand on your head. You're not up for it?"

He started rambling, "You said you'd grant me a wish, and now that I've made it, are you gonna back out?"

"I just wanna feel taller than you for once, is that so bad? Do I have to ask for the moon to make it a legit request?"

"Your shoulders can hold Mom, can carry Lucy, why not me? They get it for free, and I have to use a wish! It's already unfair!"

"And here you are, dragging your feet. Fine, I won't make a wish, and you don't have to grant it. Let's just pretend nothing happened between us, father and son. You're not keeping your word!"

Kelvin looked at him for a moment before asking, "You done?"

"Pretty much," Sam replied, "Put me down."

He squirmed, trying to get out of Kelvin's arms.

But he was no match for Kelvin's strength.

To Kelvin, he was like a little chick, easy to scoop up!

"I just think, Sam, you're wasting your wish," Kelvin said, "This kind of thing, you just need to ask."

"I don't care, I wanna use the wish you gave me."

Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Why are you so stubborn?"

"I just am," Sam said, "Now put me down!"

Kelvin felt that as a father, he should be more generous, more accommodating, and less petty with Sam.

So Kelvin said, "I'll save this wish for you, and you can use it later. But as for sitting on my shoulders, I can do that right now."

But Sam was still insistent, "No, I want to use my wish."

Even Penelope was puzzled, "Sam, what's going on?"

"Nothing's going on."

"Wouldn't it be smarter to save the wish?" Penelope suggested gently, "In case you want something bigger down the road, you can ask your dad for help."

Sam pouted, looking a bit sulky.

After a moment of hesitation, he muttered, "I feel like I already have a lot... I'm really happy with what I have. If I have to make a wish..."

Sam looked up at Penelope, "Mom, I wish for you to be happy every day, always joyful. No sadness, no anger, no worries, may all the beauty in the world surround you!"

His voice was clear and bright, echoing in the air.

Lucy nodded in agreement, "Sam's right, Mom. We all want you to be happier, to smile more. And seriously, don't get mad—it makes you age faster."

Penelope was taken aback, "You guys..."

Did the kids notice her recent mood swings and low spirits?

Was it that obvious?

Penelope touched her face.

Turns out, emotions are easy to read and even easier to show!

"Mom, my wish is for Dad to love you well, to make you happy every day, like a princess, without any worries," Sam said, "Dad, that's my wish. Can you make it happen?"

Kelvin answered without hesitation, "I can."

"But this wish takes a lifetime to fulfill," Sam said, "Dad, it's not something that can be done in a day, a year, or ten years. You have to be good to her for the rest of your life. Missing a day, an hour, a minute, a second, isn't a lifetime!"

"Not just this lifetime. If there's a next life, or the one after that, I still want to be good to her. She will always be my princess."

Penelope listened to the father and son, tears welling up in her eyes again.

Those who love her understand her; even the slightest hint of something wrong, no matter how well hidden, can't be concealed.

"Sam, Lucy," Penelope sniffed, trying to hold back her tears, "Did you plan this because... I've been feeling down lately?"

Lucy nodded, "Yeah! Sam and I both know it must be Dad who upset you, something he did wrong, or didn't do well enough, made you angry or sad. So, whoever messed up should apologize, should make it right, so we let Dad come and cheer you up!"

"But..."

Kelvin hadn't done anything wrong.

The one at fault was she.

Unexpectedly, both kids stood by her unconditionally.

"Yes, I haven't done well enough," Kelvin actually agreed with Lucy, admitting, "Because of my negligence, I didn't take good care of Penelope, didn't protect her, let her go through some unpleasant things, affecting her mood."

He took the blame upon himself.

If he had been by her side, following her, Brandon wouldn't have had the chance to act!

Kelvin was also feeling guilty!
