Chapter 1008 The Boyfriend Is a Bit Negligent

Penelope always ended up feeling awkward! So she decided not to bother Monica anymore.

Kelvin put his arm around her shoulders. "Why are you blushing?"

"I... I'm not."

"You totally are," Sam chimed in. "Your face is as red as a baboon's butt, I can see it!"

Penelope fell silent.

That description was worse than saying nothing at all!

She glared at Sam. "What do you know!"

"What don't I know?"

Just then, footsteps echoed from the staircase.

Sam's attention was immediately diverted.

"Thessaly!" He transformed into a little fanboy, his eyes practically sparkling. "I finally get to see you again!"

Lucy also shouted excitedly, "Thessaly!"

The siblings couldn't sit still any longer and ran straight towards Thessaly.

Thessaly smiled and opened her arms to hug them both.

But, since she hadn't eaten for three days and the kids charged at her with such force, she couldn't keep her balance and fell backward.

"Thessaly!"

"Thessaly!"

"Watch out, Thessaly!"

Brandon, standing nearby, quickly caught her in his arms, preventing her from falling.

"Are you okay?" he asked considerately.

Falling into Brandon's embrace would only render Thessaly profoundly discomfited.

She quickly shook her head and stood up straight again.

"What's wrong, Thessaly?" Lucy asked. "You look really weak."

Sam added, "Yeah, you can barely stand."

"Are you still sleepy?"

"Or are you feeling sick?"

Thessaly didn't know how to respond. "I... I'm fine, don't worry."

"Her legs are a bit weak; she can't stand properly," Brandon explained. "Girls naturally have less strength. You two should take turns."

He playfully tapped Sam and Lucy on their foreheads.

Weak legs?

Adults knew what that meant.

Penelope immediately looked at Kelvin. She had blushed earlier because... well, never mind, now wasn't the time to discuss it.

It was a normal thing. Stay calm.

Brandon had said it intentionally to cause misunderstandings.

"Mr. Davis, Penelope, why didn't you let us know you were coming?" Brandon greeted them. "Thessaly and I just woke up; we didn't have time to prepare for your visit. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Penelope smiled. "It's no problem, we're all friends. Sam and Lucy insisted on seeing Thessaly, so I brought them over to bother you again."

Thessaly asked, "Did you come from the King Manor?"

"...No," Penelope replied. "We went to the set first. But you weren't there, you took the day off."

Brandon's hand rested on Thessaly's waist.

He pressed lightly, warning her.

Kelvin remained silent, observing calmly.

Thessaly spoke softly, "Yes, I haven't been feeling well, I'm really out of it. After careful consideration, I decided to take a break. I'll return to the set once I'm better."

"What's wrong?" Penelope asked. "Are you sick? Or..."

Mental stress?

Thessaly lowered her eyes. "I'll be fine in a few days."

"Thessaly," Lucy tugged at her sleeve, "you're so pretty, you can't look so down. It makes you less beautiful than before."

Sam quickly argued, "She's always beautiful! She's beautiful now, too!"

"I mean, a happy Thessaly looks more like an angel!"

Thessaly patted Lucy's head. "I get what you mean, Lucy. Thanks for coming to see me, both of you."

"Good thing we came, otherwise we wouldn't know you were sick," Lucy said. "You looked even more beautiful last time we saw you."

A person's mental state showed on their face.

Even the kids could see Thessaly's exhaustion, and Penelope understood too.

But... she didn't get it.

She didn't understand why Thessaly, who had Brandon, a successful career, and a loving relationship, could still be troubled.

Could it still be about that night with Paul?

Penelope could only speculate; she didn't dare ask.

So she turned to Brandon. "You're not doing a great job as a boyfriend. Thessaly should be happier and more fulfilled with you. You have a lot of responsibility."

"Exactly!" Sam agreed. "Uncle Brandon, how are you taking care of Thessaly? If you can't, let me do it!"

Lucy added, "I can help too! Thessaly, consider me!"

Brandon responded with a mix of helplessness and guilt. "It's my fault, I'll do better."

He looked at Thessaly with affection, his eyes full of tenderness and love.

"It's my own issue," Thessaly said. "Brandon has been with me the whole time, barely managing his company."

She always defended Brandon, showing no complaints or dissatisfaction, which reassured Penelope.

'As long as she's okay.'

Kelvin then spoke up. "Since that's the case, we won't disturb you. We'll come back another time."

Penelope was taken aback.

Leaving already?

Sam and Lucy were also confused.

They had just seen Thessaly, hadn't even held her hand or talked much!

"Kelvin, we just..."

Penelope wanted to say something, but Kelvin held her hand tightly.

"Let's go," Kelvin said calmly. "We were being intrusive. Sam, Lucy, come on, we're going home."

Thessaly also chimed in, "Sorry, Mr. Davis, Penelope. I'll invite you over properly next time when I'm feeling better."

She was politely sending them off.

Sam sighed, his head hanging low.

He wanted to hug Thessaly!

Oh well, there would be other chances.

"Sam," Thessaly crouched down and pinched his cheek, "could you hug me before you go?"

Sam's eyes lit up.

Thessaly was asking to hug him!

Sam was thrilled!!!

But, despite his excitement, Sam remembered Kelvin's teachings.

Hugging someone else's girlfriend required their permission!

"Uncle Brandon," Sam asked, "is it okay?"

Brandon smiled and nodded. "Of course."

A hug was no big deal.

He didn't have feelings for Thessaly anyway.

Even if he did, it was normal for Sam to hug her.

Thessaly teased him, "If Uncle Brandon said no, would you not hug me?"

"I'd keep pestering him until he said yes!"

Thessaly's sweet smile finally brought a bit of life to her face.

She knelt on one knee and opened her arms to hug Sam.
