Chapter 781 Can You Temporarily Call Me Mom?

If she had been a bit stricter and tried harder to stop him, maybe this hostage exchange wouldn't have happened.

Sam looked at Penelope's distressed and heartbroken expression and pouted, "Penelope."

"What's wrong?" she asked nervously, "I'm here, tell me."

"Nothing, I just wanted to call you."

Then, Sam asked the head nurse, "Isn't my mom really beautiful?"

The head nurse was taken aback.

Penelope was also taken aback.

"Yes," the head nurse nodded, "She looks like a young girl, doesn't look like she's had a child at all."

"I think so too," Sam said, "Look, I got hurt and was unconscious all night, she stayed with me the whole time, but she's still so beautiful, with smooth skin and a good complexion."

Penelope's cheeks turned slightly red, feeling a bit embarrassed, "I put on makeup."

"I'm in this state, and you still have the mood to put on makeup. I really don't know if you're worried about me or not."

The head nurse didn't expect Sam to be so cheeky.

It was rare to see such a glib kid in the hospital.

Especially since Sam had just woken up from surgery, many adults didn't have his level of optimism and cheerfulness. Many people screamed in pain during dressing changes.

But he still had the leisure to joke around.

Penelope looked at him helplessly, "Talk less."

"I'm chatting to distract myself!"

It hurt so much.

He really wanted to scream, but he thought it would be too embarrassing and undignified.

After all, he had just been a hero!

And if he saw Penelope's tears again, he would cry too.

That wouldn't do.

Sam clenched his fists and held back!

After the long dressing change, Penelope stepped forward to help him put on his hospital gown.

"Penelope."

Penelope didn't respond.

"Penelope?"

Penelope still didn't say anything.

Sam was puzzled, "Why are you ignoring me?"

Penelope met his eyes, "What did you call me?"

"Penelope," Sam said naturally, "I've always called you that. You respond just fine, why aren't you responding today, did something happen?"

"What am I to you?" Penelope asked.

Without thinking, Sam answered, "My mom."

"Then what should you call me?"

"Penelope."

"Call me Mom."

Sam immediately corrected himself, "But 'Penelope' sounds so nice, such a loving name."

"Yes, there's nothing wrong with that loving name, the problem is with me."

She sighed deeply.

Sam was very confused.

Penelope looked at him, "Sam, I need to discuss something with you."

"What?"

"Your dad, Kelvin, now knows he's your dad," Penelope said, "Can you temporarily call me Mom for a while?"

Sam asked, "Why?"

Penelope answered nervously, "He's upset with me for hiding your identity. I need to avoid giving him any reason to hold a grudge."

"Oh, I see."

"Yes! Just call me Mom for now, once he's calmed down, you can call me whatever you want."

If Kelvin came over and heard Sam calling her "Penelope," he might overthink it, and she'd have to explain again!

Penelope hadn't instructed Sam to change how he addressed her to hide his identity!

It wasn't her intention for Sam to call her "Penelope," he insisted on it himself.

But Penelope worried Kelvin wouldn't believe that.

So now she wanted Sam to change how he addressed her!

"I understand now," Sam suddenly realized, "You're afraid of Kelvin."

"What do you mean afraid, I'm just trying to create a harmonious and friendly family environment!"

"Dear, what should I say to you?"

Penelope looked at him, "What? What's wrong with me?"

"Can't you have a bit of backbone? Improve your status in the family? What are you afraid of Kelvin for?" Sam asked, "Whether I call you Mom or not, you're still my mom."

"But indeed," Sam nodded coolly, "During the time you were hiding my identity, calling you 'Penelope' saved you a lot of trouble."

During that time, if he had called Penelope Mom, it wouldn't have worked, his identity would have been discovered long ago.

So what should he call her?

Call her Aunt Penelope?

That sounded awkward.

He couldn't say it, and Penelope would feel bad hearing it.

"Penelope" sounded so nice, smooth, and concealed the truth!

"Yes, but now it's not necessary," Penelope said in a conciliatory tone, "Sam, just bear with it for a while, call me Mom more often, okay? Your dad can be really scary when he's angry!"

"How scary?"

"You can't imagine!"

Sam asked, "Will he beat people?"

Penelope was speechless.

"He won't beat you, what are you afraid of," Sam said nonchalantly, "Besides, this won't do, you need to find a way to improve and defend your status in the family!"

Of course, the head of the household should be Penelope.

If Penelope was happy, the whole family was happy!

If Penelope was unhappy, the whole family was unhappy!

Sam thought for a moment, "Here's the thing, if he's angry, you get angry too. Aren't women best at getting angry? If he says something wrong, you immediately..."

Penelope covered his mouth.

What nonsense was he talking about?

How could she get angry with Kelvin?

She didn't have time to admit her mistakes!

If Sam weren't injured, she would have wanted to tap him a few times!

"I'm begging you, Sam."

Sam was almost overwhelmed by the mushiness and quickly nodded.

Only then did Penelope let go.

"I'll change that," Sam quickly surrendered, "You be normal, Mommy."

He started trying to change how he addressed her.

"Yes!" Penelope was satisfied, "Keep it up!"
