Chapter 802 Never Set Foot in LA Again

"I gotta say it!" Debra was determined. "Whether she lets me go or not, I need to spill the truth from back then. Keeping this secret has been killing me. I need to get it off my chest!"

"I never regretted kidnapping Penelope. My only regret is that I had the chance to kill her, but I didn't take it!"

Brent turned pale with fear and immediately covered her mouth, stopping her from saying another word.

No wonder Isabella was so stubborn. Brent hadn't understood it before, but now, seeing Debra's behavior, he finally got it.

Like mother, like daughter!

At critical moments, both of them were so clueless, just asking for trouble!

Penelope chuckled softly.

"Why are you so freaked out? I just took a moment to respond. I never said I wouldn't let you go, nor did I plan to go back on my word." Penelope lifted her chin, her red lips forming each word clearly. "From the beginning, all I wanted was the truth!"

Everything had already happened, leading to a series of irreversible consequences.

From the moment Debra kidnapped her, Penelope's life took a completely different path.

Even if she settled the score with Debra now, what would it change?

Could she go back in time?

Could she undo everything?

No.

"The truth is, I kidnapped you!" Debra said. "Whether you want to kill me, torture me, or let me go, it's up to you! Do as you see fit!"

Debra still had a bit of confidence.

Because if she were gone, Brent would be pitiful, with no one to care for him, no one to accompany him, utterly alone.

Penelope would at least have to consider her biological father, because right now, Brent only had Debra by his side!

Penelope looked at her. "I was quiet just now because I was thinking about whether to make you apologize to my mom. The biggest victims in this are me and her."

"Debra, you single-handedly changed my life. Without you, many things wouldn't be the way they are today."

She would have married Brandon.

She wouldn't have experienced so many ups and downs.

She would have smoothly and worry-free been the socialite of the Mitchell family.

Debra sneered. "You're the victim? Penelope, you're the biggest beneficiary! You should be thanking me!"

"Thanking you?"

"Yeah! Because of me, you met Kelvin, married him, and became the glamorous Mrs. Davis! The Davis family is the top family in the city. The Walker family is nothing compared to the Davis family!"

Hearing this, Penelope was almost amused by her anger.

"Fine, you have your twisted logic. I don't want to argue with you. But you owe my mom an apology, that's a fact, right?"

"So what if I owe her an apology? She has everything—money, power, a daughter, and a son-in-law. What do I have? I only have Brent!"

Penelope's face turned cold. "It seems you don't need to apologize to my mom after all!"

With Debra's attitude, going to apologize to Nicole? What kind of apology would that be?

It would only infuriate her!

Her mom's health had just started to improve a bit; she couldn't handle Debra's sarcasm!

Brent wanted to say something, but Penelope's gaze swept over him. "As a daughter, even though you've never given me a shred of fatherly love, that's your issue. I, Penelope, need to be true to myself, so that when I think of you, my biological father, I can have a clear conscience!"

She didn't want to have nightmares anymore.

She didn't want to leave any room for self-blame.

She had done enough to repay Brent for giving her life!

Whether Brent had done right by her was not her concern!

"Brent, this afternoon, you will go to court with my mom to finalize the divorce. Any issues?"

Brent replied, "No issues."

This marriage should have ended long ago.

From the start, Brent and Nicole were never a good match.

It still comes down to being well-matched and equally strong!

"Tomorrow, your heart stent surgery will proceed as scheduled," Penelope said. "The doctor said there's not much risk. After the surgery, I'll arrange for you to be transferred to another hospital."

"Which hospital?"

"Any hospital outside of LA!"

Penelope wanted Brent to leave immediately after the surgery and disappear!

He was never to appear again!

"Okay," Brent agreed. "No problem."

"After the transfer, you are never to set foot in LA again."

"No problem."

"Good." Penelope nodded. "Our father-daughter relationship ends here. From now on, we will never see each other again!"

She said this firmly, then turned and walked away.

Without looking back.

Decisive and resolute!

Without a trace of hesitation!

Because there was no one here worth her lingering for!

Kelvin's sharp gaze darted between Brent and Debra, the warning clear.

They had to keep their promises.

Otherwise, he wouldn't show mercy!

Kelvin took long strides to catch up with Penelope, taking her hand.

Their figures grew smaller and smaller until they disappeared down the cemetery path.

The sky darkened completely, and a light rain began to fall.

"Never see each other again, never..." Brent said. "Penelope has completely given up on me."

Debra scoffed. "What are you still holding on to? She gave up on you long ago! When you were in the hospital with no money to pay, it was Brandon who stepped in and paid! She didn't spend a dime on you, heartless and stingy!"

"I never raised her, never treated her well. She hates me, doesn't care about me, and that's fair."

Debra was disappointed. "You, you're weak! Useless!"

At this moment, Brandon spoke up. "I did pay, but two days later, the money was returned to my account."

Brent was stunned. "What?"

"I specifically asked the hospital," Brandon said. "Uncle Connor, all your medical bills were charged to Kelvin's account."

"Mr. Davis settled them?"

"Yes." Brandon nodded. "That's just how strong-willed she is. Even if she helps you or cares about you, she won't use her own name. She uses Kelvin's name."

Brent suddenly looked up, searching around, wanting to catch another glimpse of Penelope.

But it was too late.

He would never see her again.

Penelope would never appear before him again!

Just then, his phone chimed with a text message.

It was a bank transfer notification.

Looking at the amount, Brent's vision blurred, and his eyes grew moist.

This money was enough for him to live comfortably for the rest of his life.

Penelope truly meant what she said.

She had done her utmost for her biological father!

"I've wronged two people the most in my life, Nicole and Penelope," Brent said. "In the end, the two people who treated me the best were also these two."
