Chapter 770 Sam and Brian Are Both in the Operating Room
Maybe Sam would feel particularly proud of himself for saving Penelope and coming out of it alive!
"Understood," Kelvin nodded. "How much longer will the surgery take?"
The head nurse said, "Two hours. The wound on the neck is close to the carotid artery, so it requires very delicate handling."
Connor wiped the corner of his eye. "Poor Sam, he's so young. I wish those cuts were on me instead!"
Kelvin said, "The most dangerous part is over. Don't blame yourself anymore."
"I'm okay, but Mr. Davis, I'm afraid Nicole won't be able to get over this."
It was because Nicole wanted to see Isabella that a series of events unfolded.
Although it was Isabella's personal action, and no one knew in advance, Nicole felt guilty, thinking she was the cause of it all.
Kelvin pursed his lips. "I'll go check on Penelope."
"Alright," Connor responded. "I'll stay with Sam. Don't worry. I know you're thinking about Penelope."
Penelope had been moved from the emergency room to a regular infusion room.
Nicole sat by the bedside, quietly accompanying her.
Hearing footsteps, she turned around. "Mr. Davis."
"How is Penelope?"
"The doctor said she fainted from emotional shock and excessive grief. She'll be fine after some rest," Nicole replied. "The doctor prescribed some sedatives, and I'm here watching her IV."
Saying this, she stood up. "You stay with her. I'll go to the restroom."
She left the space for Kelvin and quickly walked out.
"Nicole," Kelvin looked at her back. "Don't blame yourself, and don't take the fault upon yourself. It's all Isabella's fault, not yours."
Nicole paused.
He added, "Penelope must think the same. She won't blame you, nor will I, and Sam certainly won't."
After a long while, Nicole nodded slightly but didn't turn around. She left with her head down.
In this whole incident, Nicole was just a poor victim.
Kelvin sat down and held Penelope's hand.
It was a bit cold. He kept warming it, pressing it against his cheek.
"Penelope, wake up," Kelvin said. "Sam is safe, out of danger. Brian is still being rescued; he has a good chance of surviving."
The only one declared dead was Isabella. She deserved it.
Recalling the scene of Brian's rescue, Kelvin still felt terrified!
It took enough courage, bravery, and skill to act on his own and carry out the rescue.
When Brian jumped off with Isabella, he was really prepared to die together.
Because as long as Isabella stayed in the ward, she was a very dangerous presence!
Brian was truly unafraid of death and ready to die!
Kelvin had a deep impression of Brian.
He was the bodyguard who stayed by Penelope's side before she jumped into the sea.
After Penelope's incident, Kelvin let Brian return to the team without holding him accountable.
With Kelvin's temperament and methods, Brian wouldn't have stayed until now.
Because of Penelope's plea and his own overwhelming grief, he let Brian go. Unexpectedly, today, Brian became the biggest hero in saving Sam.
A little kindness back then had such a significant impact now.
Kelvin tightly held Penelope's hand, kissing it repeatedly.
"If I had known something so dangerous would happen, I would have stayed by your side no matter how much you refused," he whispered. "Penelope, I really can't let you out of my sight anymore."
"Leaving you alone, I can't be at ease. Look, such a big thing happened today."
"I don't want you to face those things, but you're always too strong and independent."
"From now on, stay behind me more often. I'll protect you, protect Lucy, and protect Sam."
After this incident, Kelvin had fully accepted Sam.
Although Sam was quirky and slick, he played the most crucial role at the critical moment!
Kelvin even thought that entrusting Lucy to Sam wouldn't be a bad idea.
A man with courage, wisdom, and responsibility, who stepped up in the most dangerous moments, such qualities were rare!
His daughter could be safely entrusted to such a man.
She wouldn't be wronged or let down!
The delicate fingertips in Kelvin's palm suddenly moved slightly.
"Sam, Sam," Penelope murmured continuously. "No, don't, it's dangerous, come over here."
"I should be the one protecting you. How can I let you risk your life to save me?" Penelope, with her eyes closed, frowned tightly, her lips pale, and her forehead covered in beads of sweat.
The hand with the IV suddenly lifted, flailing in the air, causing the IV bottle to shake.
"Penelope!" Kelvin quickly held her hand. Looking down, he saw the needle had shifted.
He immediately pressed the call button. "Nurse! Where's the nurse?"
The nurse hurried over.
But Penelope kept moving, waving her hand, making it impossible to reinsert the needle!
"Don't jump, no one should die, no one is allowed to die! Everyone must live well! The only one who should die is Isabella!"
"I don't want anyone to pay with their life for this!"
"Sam! Brian!"
Penelope's hoarse voice echoed in the infusion room. The next second, she suddenly opened her eyes, gasping for air.
Staring at the white ceiling, Penelope was dazed, not blinking.
Too many images and memories suddenly flooded her mind.
"Penelope?" Until a familiar voice reached her ears.
Penelope slowly turned her head, looking at Kelvin in front of her. "Kelvin."
"It's me." He leaned closer. "You're awake."
Penelope struggled to sit up from the bed.
Her throat was so dry it felt like it was burning, and speaking was painful and hoarse.
But she still tried hard to speak. "How are Sam and Brian? What's their situation? Where are they? I need to go."
Penelope lifted the blanket, trying to get out of bed.
"You still need the IV," Kelvin held her down. "Sam and Brian are both in the operating room. You won't be able to see them even if you go."
"Brian is in the operating room?" Penelope's eyes slowly widened, filled with surprise, shock, and disbelief.
Falling from the thirtieth floor, Brian still had a chance of survival? He could be rescued?
