Chapter 1031 That Is the Consensus Between You and Brandon, Not Me

The main reason he hadn't handed it over yet was to protect Thessaly.

"Mr. Davis, that's between you and Brandon, not me," Thessaly's voice snapped Kelvin back to reality. "I've always said I want to make the evidence public. I want everyone to see Brandon for who he really is. I want him and Paul to face the consequences and pay the price!"

"Thessaly, you know what'll happen if those photos of you and Paul get out online!"

"I don't care! If my career's over, then so be it!"

Kelvin frowned. "You can give up your career, but are you ready to give up your life too? You're still so young!"

Those indecent photos, once online, would be there forever... It would be a form of torture! Humiliation!

"From the moment Brandon sent me to Paul's bed, I was already ruined!" Thessaly said, shaking her head. "No, actually, from the day I met Brandon, I was no longer myself."

Kelvin's sharp gaze fell on her. "Do you still love him?"

"...Yes."

Thessaly admitted it.

Loving someone wasn't something to be ashamed of. If you loved them, you loved them.

She had fallen for Brandon.

Even though she knew what Brandon had done, she knew his kindness was all an act; she knew she shouldn't love such a jerk, but... her heart had already been moved, and there was no turning back.

Kelvin pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

He couldn't offer Thessaly emotional support; it wasn't his strong suit.

"But my love for him doesn't conflict with my hatred for him," Thessaly said. "Mr. Davis, I'm begging you, don't protect me, don't worry about me. Do what you need to do, okay?"

She was almost pleading.

Kelvin still shook his head. "Thessaly, you're too young. You have a bright future ahead of you. You can't destroy everything because of a moment of impulse."

Seeing Kelvin's firm stance, Thessaly fell silent.

She lowered her head and said nothing more.

At that moment, Penelope returned with Sam.

Kelvin's clothes still had faint chocolate stains, though they were much lighter.

"Be careful now, it's okay to get your clothes dirty, but don't mess up Thessaly's couch," Penelope reminded. "Got it?"

Sam nodded. "Okay!"

He dipped a cookie in some sauce and offered it to Thessaly. "Angel Thessaly, you could have to try this. It tastes amazing!"

Thessaly smiled and took a bite. "Yes, it's sweet."

Seeing this, Lucy offered her lollipop to Thessaly. "This fruit-flavored one is really good, Thessaly, you should try it too!"

"Sure, sure."

Thessaly accepted all the children's offerings with a smile.

Penelope beamed. "They've missed you so much. They talk about you every day. Whenever they find something tasty, they want to save it for you. When they see a pretty dress, they say they want to buy it for you... In their hearts, you're more important than me now."

"That's impossible. They love you the most. Penelope, I'm so envious that you have two such adorable and smart kids."

"You'll have them too," Penelope said immediately. "Sometimes having kids happens in an instant, really fast."

Thessaly just smiled.

Penelope patted her hand. "You and Brandon seem pretty solid now. After dating for another year or two, you can get married and have kids. It'll all fall into place."

"Brandon and I... getting married?" Thessaly shook her head, her smile tinged with a hint of sadness. "I haven't thought about it, and... I don't dare to."

"Why not? Dating without the intention of marriage is just behaving like a hoodlum."

Penelope turned to Kelvin. "Isn't that right?"

A man and a woman dating without thinking about marriage are just playing around?

That wouldn't do.

Every relationship was precious.

If you've decided to be together, you've included the other person in your future plans.

"Right," Kelvin nodded. "You're absolutely right."

Then he stood up, waving his phone. "Ryan's been blowing up my phone. I need to handle some work. You two keep chatting."

As soon as Kelvin left, the conversation between the two women became more relaxed and casual.

"Is Mr. Davis always this busy?" Thessaly asked. "Working even at night."

Penelope stuck out her tongue. "He slept until one in the afternoon today, then went shopping with me. He didn't even go to the office."

Thessaly was surprised. "Is that something Mr. Davis would do?"

"I'm puzzled too. He wasn't like this before. I don't know what he's thinking today."

"Maybe he feels guilty for not spending enough time with you," Thessaly suggested. "It's his way of showing he cares... Penelope, you're very lucky, really lucky."

"I think so too. Thessaly, you'll be lucky too. You're so beautiful, talented, and kind. You and Brandon will have a future together."

Penelope kept bringing up Brandon, praising him, and saying he was someone Thessaly could rely on for life.

But to Thessaly, those words felt uncomfortable.

With Sam and Lucy playing nearby and Kelvin on the phone in the hallway, Thessaly looked around and then lowered her voice. "Penelope, I have a question..."

"Go ahead."

"It might be a bit presumptuous."

Penelope replied, "It's okay. With our relationship, you can speak freely."

"Does what happened that night at the hotel still bother you?" Thessaly asked slowly. "Even though nothing happened between you and Brandon, and you're still innocent, there was still something between you two..."

She stopped there, not saying more.

Penelope understood her meaning.

"Thessaly, is this still bothering you?" Penelope asked cautiously. "Are you upset about my past with Brandon, or... about what happened with Paul?"

"I can't get over it."

Penelope was taken aback, her eyes showing concern.

"Thessaly, I want to say I'm sorry, but... sorry doesn't solve anything. I thought when you accepted Brandon's confession, you had moved past it."

But Thessaly still couldn't let it go.

Was her haggard appearance at the Walker Mansion last time because of this issue with Brandon?

The more Penelope thought about it, the more something felt off.

"Thessaly," she said, "I remember you told me that nothing happened between me and Brandon that night because you had evidence or heard some truth. Now... after all this time, can you tell me?"
