Chapter 829 Our Tina Is Quite Good
"You haven't changed it. I'm surprised you still remember."
"We lived together for almost twenty years, from elementary school to college graduation. How could I forget your likes and habits?" Penelope replied. "Even if I wanted to forget, I couldn't. You only get one youth in life."
And in her youth, it was all about Nathan.
Now, sitting face to face, chatting calmly, was quite rare for them.
So many people drift apart over time.
Nathan just smiled and took a sip of his tea.
He had become much more composed and mature, no longer the spirited young man he once was.
Penelope looked at herself. She had changed, too.
She had become quieter, more nurturing, with a motherly aura about her.
They had both been through so much; who could remain the same as they were at the beginning?
"How have you been lately?" Penelope asked. "I want the truth."
"Really good, honestly. I know you're doing well, too."
Nathan could learn about Penelope's life from the news, gossip, and word of mouth in high society.
She had two children, shares in the Davis Group, and was the apple of Kelvin's eye.
All of LA envied her.
What a true winner in life!
But Penelope didn't know much about Nathan's recent life.
Penelope looked at him. "All I know is that you took over the Smith Group, you're busy with work and traveling, and you're still alone."
"I have assistants and secretaries. Every day is quite fulfilling."
"Is your heart truly fulfilled?"
Nathan's hand holding the teacup paused slightly.
He hadn't thought about it that way.
After losing Penelope, he threw himself into work, gaining the board's approval and leading the Smith Group to greater heights. Kelvin no longer targeted him and even occasionally provided resources and introduced clients.
He was very busy. Seeing him required an appointment and a wait.
The current Nathan was the backbone of the Smith Group.
But Penelope's question today caught him off guard.
'Is your heart fulfilled?'
His life now was filled with countless flights across the country and the world, and hotel stays. In the quiet of the night, closing his laptop, he felt so empty.
It seemed like he had everything, yet nothing at all.
"You could consider opening your heart and accepting someone new," Penelope said softly, smiling. "Having someone in your heart is true fulfillment. You've established your career; now it's time to start a family."
Nathan smiled but didn't say anything.
Over the years, he had met many women.
Career-driven, glamorous, sweet, and cute... but no one had moved him. He always felt that none of them was the one he wanted.
Penelope continued, "Actually, our Tina is quite nice. Young, lively, good-natured, well-educated. You've known her for years; you should have some understanding of her."
"Tina..." Nathan thought for a moment. "She is a very good girl."
"If you think she's nice, you could take the next step."
Nathan looked at her in surprise. "Penelope, are you trying to set me up with her?"
"No, of course not," Penelope denied. "I'm just mentioning it casually. After all, I don't know many single women, and Tina is one of them. Plus, you know her, and I think you two are quite suitable."
Nathan was taken aback.
Tina?
He hadn't considered developing feelings for her.
But being with her was indeed relaxing and pleasant.
Penelope observed his expression and felt confident.
At least Nathan wasn't opposed to the idea, which meant a high success rate!
"Maybe you haven't realized it yet," Penelope said. "At first, you needed to personally handle work matters with her. But with your current status, you don't need to come in person. Yet, you still choose to."
"Have you thought that maybe you want to see her? Talk to her?"
"Maybe, in your busy life, Tina gives you a sense of relaxation, allowing you to be yourself without always being at your best?"
Nathan lowered his eyes.
After a while, he said, "She really is quite adorable."
"I think so too."
Having said enough, Penelope decided to stop and not push further.
Matters of the heart between men and women often just need a little nudge.
She couldn't forcefully clarify everything today.
Take it slow!
First, wake them up to the possibility!
Tina had long been infatuated. As long as Nathan understood a bit and took the initiative, there was a high chance they could be together!
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Tina arrived.
"Mr. Smith, I'm sorry," Tina's cheeks were flushed, her makeup delicate but not heavy. "I had something I couldn't get away from, so I asked Penelope to entertain you."
"No problem, have a seat."
Tina nodded, unable to hide her smile, her eyes bright and clear.
The look of someone in love is unmistakable!
Penelope thought, maybe she had the same look when she saw Kelvin back then.
She just didn't realize it, thinking she hid it well.
But anyone with eyes could see it!
"Alright, my task is done. You two talk business." Penelope stood up. "I won't intrude any longer!"
She deliberately said this and walked out.
Nathan's expression was a bit unnatural.
Before, when he interacted with Tina, he didn't feel anything was amiss. He was relaxed and comfortable, enjoying Tina's animated expressions when she spoke.
But after Penelope's words...
Nathan started to feel awkward.
He didn't know whether to look at Tina or not.
He didn't know where to direct his gaze.
Before leaving, Penelope winked at Tina.
She could only help this much; the rest was up to Tina!
Nathan needed to put in some effort, too!
Once the door closed, it was up to them to say whatever they wanted.
Penelope hummed a tune, feeling great.
If Nathan and Tina really became a couple, she would deserve a lot of credit!
She always hoped Nathan could be happy, find a girl to be with him. She also hoped Tina could marry a reliable guy.
And these two seemed perfect for each other!
Now, it was up to them to see if sparks would fly!
After all, love is a two-way street!
Penelope returned to her desk and started working.
This orderly, peaceful life gave her a sense of long-lost happiness.
Being able to live a smooth, safe life was already a great blessing.
Nearby, a few colleagues were whispering.
