Chapter 35

Lily left, dragging her feet.

"Mr. Davis," Fiona stomped her foot. "We can't just let this slide."

She shot daggers at Penelope, clearly not ready to let her off the hook.

Fiona was fuming, ready to get back at Penelope.

Clinging to Kelvin's arm, Fiona whined, "Penelope did it on purpose. She's always out to get me. If you hadn't shown up, who knows what your stepmom would've done to me? Look, I'm scratched!"

Kelvin just glanced at Penelope, staying silent.

Penelope felt a wave of anxiety wash over her.

Kelvin usually gave Fiona whatever she wanted.

Who knew what kind of punishment he'd dish out this time?

"Make her compensate you," Kelvin smirked. "She has to design a wedding ring for you."

Fiona's eyes lit up. "A wedding ring?"

Kelvin nodded. "Yep, one that I'll personally put on your finger, symbolizing marriage and loyalty. Whatever style you want, just tell Penelope."

"I want a big, flashy crystal!" Fiona grinned, "The more expensive, the better. It should be so eye-catching that everyone knows it's priceless and the most stunning ring in all of LA!"

Penelope bit her lip. "I can't do it."

"You have to," Kelvin replied, "It's your job."

Penelope lowered her head, saying nothing.

Kelvin was really cruel, stomping on her dignity over and over.

"Exactly," Fiona lifted her chin arrogantly. "I'll be checking on your progress regularly. You have to show me your drafts, and if I don't like them, you have to change them until I'm satisfied!"

Kelvin added, "Did you hear that?"

Penelope nodded. "Yes."

She had no choice.

And Fiona's taste was indeed questionable; just hearing her description made it clear it lacked the understated luxury of the wealthy.

The design would probably have been mocked online.

On the way back to the Davis Group, Penelope couldn't help but ask Kelvin, "Why did you keep the diamond bracelet? Are you not giving it to anyone?"

Kelvin answered, "Do you want it?"

"Of course I do," she admitted directly, "It belonged to my mother."

Kelvin responded, "Then it depends on whether you have the ability to get it. Try to please me, and maybe one day, if I'm in a good mood, I'll give it to you."

Penelope was tempted. "Really?"

Kelvin replied seriously, "I keep my word."

To get back Grace's diamond bracelet, Penelope decided to give it a try.

But how could she please Kelvin?

He had a bad temper, was unpredictable, and had no apparent weaknesses.

After thinking for a long time, Penelope went to seek help from Timothy, because they were classmates and friends, and he knew Kelvin much better than she did.

"What does Kelvin like?" Timothy stroked his chin. "He likes to lose his temper and scold people."

Penelope emphasized, "Mr. Foster, I'm seriously asking for your advice."

Timothy replied, "Well, actually, I don't know either. Kelvin's thoughts are hard to read; most of the time, I can't tell what he's thinking."

Penelope sighed; was it just going to end like this?

Timothy then added, "But I do know what Kelvin wants most."

Penelope asked, "What?"

"A good night's sleep," Timothy explained, "He has insomnia, a long-standing problem that no doctor has been able to cure him. But your Aromatherapy Pouch works for him, which is why he kept it. You could start from there."

Penelope finally saw some hope. "Thank you, Mr. Foster!"

If she could solve Kelvin's insomnia, her chances of getting the diamond bracelet back would be much higher!

Penelope immediately started researching ways to treat insomnia.

She remembered that Connor had once taught her some knowledge in this area.

That evening at King Manor, Kelvin was having dinner in his usual elegant manner, with Jeff and the servants standing by.

Out of nowhere, he said, "Penelope."

"Yes!" she responded quickly.

Kelvin asked, "Have you seen enough?"

She was just trying to figure out how to bring up the idea of helping him sleep with a massage.

"Since we got back from the company, you've been sneaking glances at me," Kelvin put down his knife and fork, looking at her. "Do you want to sleep with me?"

Penelope almost choked. Before she could answer, Kelvin wrapped his arm around her waist. "If that's the case, I'll satisfy you."

He held her tight and headed straight upstairs.

Penelope was startled. What was he up to now?

"Kelvin, you—" she started.

"Don't move," Kelvin replied coldly, tightening his grip.

On the second floor, Kelvin kicked open the master bedroom door and pushed her inside.

"My bed is outside," Penelope struggled to leave. "I'll go out first."

Kelvin pulled her back. "From today on, you move in here."

"Why?" she asked.

"Sleep on the floor or the sofa," Kelvin stared at her. "You're not allowed to stay outside anymore."

"Outside is fine!" she insisted.

Penelope broke free from his hand and quickly opened the door to run out.

After more than ten seconds, she came back voluntarily.

"I just saw a sneaky figure at the stairway," she said in surprise. "Who is that?"

"Someone my grandpa arranged to monitor us," Kelvin replied.

Penelope was stunned. "Why?"

Kelvin nodded. "My grandpa wants a great-grandchild. He wants you to have a baby."

Penelope instinctively touched her belly.

"That's impossible," she replied. "You wouldn't let the daughter of your enemy have your child."

"Indeed," Kelvin admitted. "But my grandpa doesn't care, as long as the child is mine. Anyway, you can't take the child away, nor can you do anything to the Davis Family."

Kelvin knew Liam's thoughts well.

Because Penelope was alone and helpless; she was just a doormat for carrying on the family line.

"Do you agree with that?" Penelope asked, stunned.

"Ridiculous," Kelvin sneered. "You're not worthy of having my child."

She breathed a sigh of relief. She was already pregnant; how could she get pregnant again!

"I understand," Penelope nodded. "I'll play the role of Mrs. Davis well and not let your grandpa suspect anything."

Seeing her relaxed expression, Kelvin felt extremely displeased.

"Penelope, are you stupid?" He approached her step by step, pinning her against the wall. "You should be eager to have my child."

She immediately shook her head. "No, I don't want to."

"Have you ever considered that maybe, for the sake of the child, I might treat you a little better, and your father in prison and your mother in the hospital might also have a better life because of their grandchild?" Kelvin asked.

Penelope met Kelvin's gaze.

It sounded tempting.

After a few seconds, she shook her head with a bitter smile. "It's impossible. Kelvin, with your methods, if I had your child, you would only take the child for yourself, completely sever ties with the Cooper Family, and wouldn't even let the child know who his mother is!"

Penelope was very clear-headed.

Kelvin was even more displeased that she had guessed his thoughts.

He pinched her chin, looking at her rosy lips, feeling even more irritated, and lowered his head to kiss her directly.

He almost bit her, and the pain on her lips made Penelope gasp repeatedly.

She wanted to retreat, but Kelvin firmly held the back of her head.

"Even if I have sex with you, I'll make sure you take birth control pills," Kelvin spoke. "Understand?"
