Chapter 1071 It Wasn't Me Who Lost Brandon, It Was Brandon Who Lost Me

Thessaly shoved him away, her voice sharp. "Enough!"

If she listened any longer, she'd lose her mind, lose herself, and be haunted by thoughts of him day and night.

She had to stay rational.

Brandon was putting on a show, but she couldn't fall for it.

"Brandon, I'll give you what you want," Thessaly said, her eyes piercing through the darkness. "Whatever you need, I'll do my best. But we need to agree on one thing. From now on, you and I..."

She couldn't bring herself to say "are done forever."

Loving someone, even from afar, can be fulfilling.

But Thessaly wouldn't give herself that chance.

If she was going to end it, it had to be clean and complete.

No lingering ties, no hesitation, no second thoughts.

"You and I," Thessaly said firmly, "will never cross paths again."

With that, she didn't look at Brandon again, pushed open the car door, and walked away without turning back.

No looking back.

Just like her life, it couldn't be restarted.

Thessaly walked away with her back straight, her silhouette radiating pride and dignity, but inside, she was shattered.

She would spend countless hours mending the wounds in her heart.

Brandon watched her until she completely disappeared from sight.

He suddenly smiled.

In his life, two women had loved him deeply.

One loved him to the point of madness, doing terrible things just to keep him.

The other loved him but also hated him, rational and clear-headed, driven away by him.

But he didn't love either of them.

He loved Penelope.

Thessaly said he loved himself the most... but he knew who he truly loved.

"That's that," Brandon muttered to himself."Just Thessaly. Losing her means nothing. As long as she agrees to drop the lawsuit and let things settle... my goal is achieved."

Everything he did to Thessaly, every word he said, had a purpose.

His heart was only about profit.

Except for Penelope.

This matter had come to an end, declared a failure.

Brandon had other things to do... still ahead.

He started the car and drove away.

At the garage entrance, Paul was waiting.

"Mr. Walker!" Paul exclaimed with delight, quickly getting in. "How did it go? Did Thessaly agree to back down?"

"I handled it, of course."

"That's great! Mr. Walker, you're my savior!"

Brandon said coolly, "Keep a low profile for a while, don't cause any more trouble, got it?"

"Got it, got it," Paul nodded repeatedly. "Revenge is best served cold. Presently, let Thessaly..."

"What else do you plan to do to Thessaly?"

Paul couldn't swallow his anger.

Thessaly had almost ruined him.

He was a director, Thessaly an actress, both in the same industry. Though they'd avoid each other, he'd find a chance to ruin her.

Paul wasn't ready to let Thessaly off the hook.

"Don't target her anymore," Brandon said coldly. "Focus on the movie, shoot it well, find a new lead actress who can carry the role, and make sure the investment doesn't tank. Got it?"

"Got it, Mr. Walker, I'll follow your orders!"

Though he agreed, Paul was still resentful. But he didn't dare show it. He'd deal with it later, no rush now.

However...

Paul asked, "Mr. Walker, you seem to have a special concern for Thessaly. Now that things are broken off, why do you still care about her? Do you... have feelings for her?"

Brandon's face darkened. "Get out!"

With that command, Paul had no choice but to get out of the car. Watching Brandon drive away, Paul muttered, "Thessaly almost ruined me and messed up Mr. Walker's plans. He should hate her... why does he forbid me from targeting her?"

He couldn't understand.

The King Manor.

A beautiful day began.

Servants brought breakfast to the table.

"Sam," Lucy asked, "Is your cold better?"

"All better! I took medicine and slept well last night. I'm completely fine now! Fully recovered!"

Sam was back to his lively self.

Penelope checked his temperature; it was normal.

"Still coughing?" she asked. "No more runny nose... does your throat hurt? Is it itchy?"

"Nope, all those symptoms are gone! Mom, don't worry, I'm perfectly healthy. An occasional cold is normal, and I've seen the doctor!"

Sam knew what she was worried about. Lucy used to have frequent fevers and colds, needing transfusions, until they discovered she had leukemia. With that experience, Penelope was extra sensitive to fevers and colds, afraid it might be more than just a cold.

"Alright," Penelope sighed in relief. "If you feel unwell, tell me, don't keep it to yourself, okay?"

"Got it! I'm hungry, let's eat!"

After being sick for so long, Sam needed to replenish his energy. His appetite was great, and he quickly finished an egg.

Penelope poured him milk. "Slow down, don't choke."

Lucy happily ate her breakfast too. A harmonious morning.

Kelvin and Penelope drove them to kindergarten, then headed to work.

In the car, familiar music played, and Penelope hummed along in the passenger seat. She felt especially happy and content. The most troubling issues were resolved, and everything was calm and peaceful.

"Feeling good?" Kelvin asked, unable to resist. "It's rare to see you so happy."

"Yeah, Sam's better, Brandon's issues are settled, all worth celebrating."

She leaned over. "Don't you feel happy too?"

Kelvin ruffled her hair. "Aren't you sad about losing Brandon, your closest male friend?" he asked.

He had worried she'd be down for a long time after learning what Brandon had done. He had thought about how to comfort her, cheer her up. But now... it seemed unnecessary.

"It's not me losing Brandon, it's Brandon losing me," Penelope answered seriously. "I always cherished him and our friendship. He chose to distance and destroy; he ruined our relationship himself."
