Chapter 1087 No Man Will Be Better Than You, Kelvin
Cameron said, "It's just exhaustion and a minor lung issue that caused the fainting. With some rest and meds, it won't happen again."
Penelope asked a million questions, and Cameron patiently answered each one, reassuring her that Kelvin's condition wasn't serious and he'd be fine.
Because... that was exactly what Kelvin had told him to say!
Finally, Penelope felt completely reassured.
"I can't wait for him to get discharged," she said, patting her chest. "It was just a scare, just a scare."
"Yeah, Mr. Davis gets his annual check-ups and works out regularly. He's as fit as a twenty-year-old."
Penelope laughed.
Yep, his body was strong, and his energy was boundless.
She knew this very well!
"Thanks," Penelope said, standing up. "I'll head back to the room now. You've worked hard these past few days. My dear husband... can be a bit temperamental, don't take it to heart. If there's anything, let me know right away."
"Mrs. Davis, you're too kind."
Outside, Kelvin quickly walked away.
He couldn't let Penelope find out he was eavesdropping!
As Penelope left Cameron's office, her steps were light, and she couldn't hide the smile on her face.
He was healthy!
She was happy!
Around the corner, Kelvin suddenly turned around and pretended to be heading towards Cameron's office, then bumped right into Penelope.
"Kelvin," Penelope's eyes lit up when she saw him. "What are you doing out here? Did you leave Thessaly alone in the room? Worried about what might happen between a man and a woman alone together?"
Penelope was clearly in a great mood, even joking with him!
Kelvin played along, putting on a mock serious face. "Yeah, Mrs. Davis left me alone with a beautiful woman, and I felt very uneasy. Thought it best to come out, just in case."
"It's okay, I trust you won't be swayed by beauty, and I trust Thessaly won't throw herself at you."
"But what if... we both lost control and blacked out?"
Penelope threw herself into his arms, playfully hitting his chest. "What are you talking about?"
Kelvin ruffled her hair. "You were gone a while, talking to Dr. Cameron about my condition?"
"Yeah."
"What did Cameron say?" he asked. "Is it serious?"
Penelope rested her chin on his chest, looking up at him. "If it were serious, would I be this happy?"
"You would. You could find a new husband, or you could have a whole lineup of men, any type you want." Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "After all, my Penelope is a wealthy woman, with plenty of money to throw at men."
"Don't say that!!"
Kelvin just laughed.
Penelope pouted. "I wouldn't trade husbands. I want you, I've chosen you, just you. No other man... no, no man could be better than you, Kelvin."
"Isn't it said online that women love young, handsome men, dreaming of having many, many men, all types of distinguished young studs, to keep and enjoy the pleasures of being a wealthy woman?"
"Kelvin!" Penelope stomped her foot. "You're just like your son, reading all sorts of nonsense online, with such muddled thoughts!"
He chuckled and hugged her tightly. "Alright, I won't tease you anymore."
Inside, he wished there was someone who could take his place, to love her properly. Leaving her to face the storms of the future alone, he couldn't bear it. How could he bear it?
"Penelope," Kelvin asked softly, "if you had graduated normally, worked, married, and had children... what kind of husband would you have chosen?"
"If I hadn't met you, normally speaking..."
Penelope tried to imagine, but found she couldn't. Because Kelvin had already fulfilled all her imaginations of a man! He had all the qualities she wanted! Not only did he have them, but they were perfect! Flawless!
"Someone just like you." Penelope smiled even more brightly. "I'm destined to be with you, Kelvin!"
She jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck. He quickly held her tight, afraid she might fall.
"See, you can hold me, which means your strength has recovered a lot." Penelope kissed the corner of his lips. "Kelvin, the doctor said you could be discharged in a few days. The current test results are all normal. But you have to quit smoking, you must quit smoking, no more smoking!"
"I've already quit."
"Completely quit, no more smoking, not even smelling it!"
Kelvin nodded. "Alright, as you command, Mrs. Davis."
Penelope kissed him again. It was clear she was genuinely happy, not caring that they were in the hospital hallway, with people coming and going, kissing him again and again.
Kelvin enjoyed her initiative. Because such moments were rare and precious!
Unfortunately, within the innermost recesses of Kelvin's soul, Kelvin felt a profound sadness. Penelope, his Penelope, if she knew his condition was worsening, that he had late-stage lung cancer... the happier she was now, the more painful it would be for her. Her happiness, in its entirety, was built on his deception!
Kelvin held Penelope and returned to the room. He had only been awake for a few hours, feeling weak and dizzy, but now he had mostly recovered. He felt... like a normal person. He had an appetite, strength, and the ability to think clearly. But he didn't know how long he could maintain this normal state. One day, he might again experience sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing, and fall into unconsciousness!
Kelvin would never allow such a situation to happen again in the office or company. Next time, when he felt unwell, he would hide immediately, far away, not letting anyone around him know!
As he kicked open the door to the room, Kelvin felt a sudden warmth on his lips. Penelope was holding his face, kissing him. Kelvin's heart trembled, his breath quickened. Her initiative... was truly rare, seldom seen!
Penelope kissed him clumsily but sweetly, slowly, lightly, tasting his flavor bit by bit.
"Kelvin..." she murmured his name.
"I'm here."
"I'm so happy, I'm in such a good mood right now," Penelope said between kisses. "You can't imagine how I feel..."
Before she could finish, Kelvin deepened the kiss!
