Chapter 823 I Refuse to Call Kelvin Dad, It's All for You

"My Penelope is getting smarter and smarter."

Penelope's mood deflated instantly.

She knew Kelvin wouldn't let this go easily.

But he was asking for too much!

"Forget it," Penelope said, letting go of his hand and turning to flop onto the bed. You can stay mad if you want. I don't care anymore."

She was exhausted, both mentally and physically.

He could do whatever he wanted!

She was tired, so tired!

Before she could reach the bed, Kelvin's arm tightened around her waist, pulling her back.

Penelope struggled immediately.

In the end, they both fell onto the bed together.

Kelvin's hand felt like a hot iron, firm and unyielding, impossible to pry off!

"Hey, you..."

"Penelope," Kelvin raised an eyebrow, his breath warm against her ear, "You need to face the consequences of your actions."

"What did I do?"

"From the day you decided to hide Sam's identity, you should have known that when I found out, I'd be furious."

Penelope had been struggling hard, but hearing this, she suddenly went limp.

"I... I was wrong. Lucy and Sam are both your children, I shouldn't have revealed one and hidden the other. But it's not entirely my fault! If you had given me enough security, enough to trust you with my life, why would I hide Sam's existence?"

Kelvin didn't speak, just tightened his grip.

After a while, he muttered, "So, it's my fault?"

"Uh..."

She didn't mean to blame him.

Penelope thought for a moment, "Let's not blame anyone. Let's just live our lives. You can't use Sam's situation to threaten me anymore!"

"Okay."

"What?"

He agreed so quickly?

Suspicious!

"Kelvin, just say what you mean, don't beat around the bush!"

He buried his head in her neck, kissing her slowly and softly, "I won't hold it against you for hiding Sam's identity because I share the blame. I didn't do well enough to earn your trust."

"So, it's all forgiven?"

"But Penelope..." Kelvin's voice dragged out, clearly implying something.

Penelope knew it! He wouldn't let it go that easily!

She gritted her teeth, "Just say it!"

"You lived under the alias Molly in a small town, refused to see me three times, stood me up, and even after returning to LA, pretended not to be Molly..."

Kelvin's lips brushed her ear. "How should we settle this?"

Penelope's face fell.

"Why do you hold grudges like this? Kelvin, you're a man, can't you be more forgiving? Why do you remember everything so clearly?"

"Because I remember everything about you very clearly."

"I..."

Penelope's words were silenced by Kelvin's kiss.

The wind gently lifted the corner of the curtain.

At nine o'clock sharp, Penelope walked out of the master bedroom.

Her hair was slightly disheveled, she was wearing her daytime clothes, and her cheeks were flushed, the color lingering.

As soon as she stepped out, she heard Kelvin's voice behind her, "Penelope, come back soon."

Her legs went weak, and she had to hold onto the doorframe to steady herself.

What kind of day was this? Was it even humanly possible to endure?

Penelope went to Sam's room, where he was sitting on the floor, playing with his Legos.

"Time for bed," Penelope said, "You can finish it tomorrow."

Sam didn't even look up. "Just a little bit more, I'm almost done."

"You've been in your room all day, aren't you bored?"

Sam was the kind of kid who couldn't sit still, always running around, touching everything, like he had ADHD.

But today, he was sitting quietly.

"I can stay in this room forever. Mom, when will Kelvin take me to ride a real spaceship?"

"Ask him yourself."

Sam suddenly became shy, "I... I'm too embarrassed to ask first."

"Call him Dad, and he'd bring you the stars from the sky."

"Hey, I haven't called Kelvin Dad yet because of you."

Penelope pointed at herself, "Because of me?"

"Yeah." Sam looked up at her, "When you and Kelvin truly make up, stop bringing up past issues, stop arguing about hiding my identity, then I'll call him Dad."

Having just endured Kelvin's hour-and-a-half-long torment, Penelope felt her heart warm at Sam's words.

Her son was always on her side, always thinking of her!

But Sam couldn't save her.

Kelvin was only settling scores with her, not involving Sam at all!

Kelvin was doing it on purpose, just to squeeze her, to "bully" her!

"Can't you see my good intentions?" Sam asked again, "All my efforts are wasted."

"I..."

Sam interrupted her, "If this keeps up, I might not be able to hold on, Mom. Maybe I should call Kelvin Dad first and go on the spaceship ride?"

"Do whatever you want."

Penelope said listlessly.

Thinking about going back to the master bedroom and facing several rounds of torment, she hated how long the night was!

Why!

Sam glanced at her again, finally noticing something was off.

"Big baby," he asked, "Why is your face so red? Why is your collar pulled up so high? Are you cold?"

Saying that, Sam reached out to adjust her collar.

Penelope quickly dodged, "The... air conditioning is set low, I'm afraid of catching a cold, so I'm keeping warm."

Sam wanted to say more, but Penelope changed the subject, "It's late, go to bed, you have school tomorrow."

"Okay."

He reluctantly put down his Legos and headed for his bed.

After a few steps, Penelope grabbed him, "Go wash up!"

"Why do you boss me around so much?" Sam pouted, "Aren't you going to Lucy's room?"

"She's probably already washed up and lying down, much more obedient than you."

Leaving Sam's room, Penelope went to Lucy's room.

She planned to stall as much as possible, to delay time.

Unexpectedly...

She opened Lucy's door, and Kelvin was sitting by the bed.

He was wearing deep blue velvet pajamas, holding a storybook, his voice low and magnetic, reading a fairy tale.

Lucy looked at him, blinking occasionally, quietly.

Seeing this, Penelope turned to leave without hesitation!

"Stop." Kelvin said, "Penelope, why aren't you coming in?"

"Hehehe..." she stopped. "I... I didn't want to interrupt your father-daughter time!"
