Chapter 965 Penelope, I Want Revenge
"Penelope, you don't have to feel guilty towards Mr. Davis, and you definitely shouldn't beat yourself up over it. Your situation's not like mine. I've managed to get back on track and dive into work... You gotta stop replaying that nightmare from that night."
"That's easy for you to say! You didn't live through that nightmare!"
Penelope stared at Thessaly, forgetting to blink.
Thessaly's clear eyes mirrored her image.
"Thessaly, you..." Penelope was at a loss, "How can you be so sure? Did you hear something? Do you have a lead?"
"Not yet, but I just know."
A flicker of disappointment crossed Penelope's face.
Thessaly was trying to comfort her... but without proof, how could she believe it?
"Penelope!" Thessaly saw through her thoughts, "Don't you trust me?"
"I..."
She wanted to believe, but she couldn't convince herself to trust blindly.
"Penelope, I'd bet my career, my future, even my life on it," Thessaly said, locking eyes with her. "Nothing happened between you and Brandon that night... to be exact, nothing even had the chance to happen."
"Seriously, you just lie down there together. Penelope, you never fell into that nightmare, not ever."
"Someone just made you think you lost your innocence!"
Thessaly spoke with such sincerity that Penelope felt her resolve waver.
She asked, "Thessaly, what have you been through these past few days? Where did you hear this?"
That night, Thessaly was also a victim, in the room next door with Paul.
Thessaly was assaulted by Paul, but Penelope... was she really lucky enough to escape?
"That's right." Thessaly nodded, "I stumbled upon some information, but I can't tell you, Penelope. Just trust what I'm saying."
Penelope's eyes lit up, "You can tell me, with Kelvin here, he'll back you up. He won't let you be in danger. Thessaly, I trust you, and you can trust me and Kelvin!"
She was desperate to know the truth.
Thessaly hesitated.
Should she mention Brandon's name?
Seeing her hesitation, Penelope was about to ask more when footsteps approached from behind.
"Penelope, Thessaly." Brandon's voice came, "What a coincidence, running into you both again."
Thessaly's hand clenched under the table, nails digging into her skin.
But outwardly, Thessaly maintained a smile, showing no sign of distress or flaw.
Brandon's gaze casually swept over her face.
He seemed indifferent, but he was secretly observing!
"What a coincidence, how did you end up at this coffee shop?" Thessaly smiled, "Penelope and I just sat down, haven't had much chance to talk."
Penelope nodded, "Yeah, we seem to run into each other a lot, last time..."
The last time was at a restaurant, right before her marriage and life were nearly destroyed.
Thinking about it made her heart ache.
Brandon and Thessaly knew what she was thinking, so they stayed silent.
Penelope wondered, 'How could it always be such a coincidence?'
Brandon always seemed to appear wherever she and Thessaly were.
Was it really a coincidence? Or was it planned?
But... Brandon was always swamped with work. There was no way he was tailing her or Thessaly, right?
He wasn't that kind of guy!
"I was just on my way to a meeting, thought I'd swing by for a coffee," Brandon broke the silence, "My car's parked out front, hazards on."
He gestured casually, then smiled and headed to the counter to order.
Thessaly watched Brandon's back.
Handsome, gentlemanly—that's the vibe Brandon gave off... but deep down, he was so vile and dark!
Penelope turned to look out the window.
A Bentley was parked quietly on the street, Brandon's car.
She didn't want to encounter Brandon because she couldn't face him. Seeing him made her involuntarily think of that night.
Everyone could pretend nothing happened, but the truth was there, impossible to ignore.
"Penelope, remember what I said, I have my reasons," Thessaly's hand landed on hers, gripping tightly, "I can't say more, but you'll find out eventually."
Penelope looked at her quietly.
What secret did Thessaly know that made her so sure nothing happened between her and Brandon?
Why couldn't Thessaly say more? Why wait?
"This whole mess, I dragged you into it," Penelope's voice was soft, "That person was targeting me, you were an innocent victim. I've always wanted you to stay away, but now it seems you can't escape."
Thessaly replied, "Penelope, I want revenge."
A girl's first time, so precious, was ruined, and her heart was filled with hate.
She wanted Paul to pay; she wanted Brandon to lose his footing in LA!
Penelope saw the determination in Thessaly's eyes.
The next moment, Thessaly stood up.
Just then, Brandon returned with his coffee.
"Since it's such a coincidence, Brandon, could I catch a ride with you?" Thessaly smiled charmingly, "I need to head to the set for a makeup test, finalize my styling."
Brandon smiled back, "Not only will I give you a ride, but even if it wasn't on my way, I'd still take you. It's an honor to serve a lady."
"Riding in your car is my honor."
"Didn't you just ride in it last night?"
Thessaly feigned surprise, "Oh, I was so busy I forgot. Since knowing you, I seem to always catch a ride with you."
"Fate, I guess." Brandon smiled warmly.
"Indeed, some things might be destined. I remember the first time I met you, I rode in your car because my nanny van broke down."
Penelope's gaze shifted between the two.
She was a bit confused.
Their interaction, their conversation, had a hint of flirtation.
Clearly more than friends, but not quite lovers.
Who would've thought, after the hotel incident, Brandon and Thessaly... could still reconnect?
Brandon didn't mind, didn't care?
Thessaly was willing to open up, take that step?
Penelope couldn't understand, couldn't figure it out!
"Penelope," Thessaly called her, interrupting her thoughts, "Brandon and I are heading out, bye."
"Bye..."
Brandon nodded slightly at her, smiled, and walked out of the coffee shop with Thessaly.
He was as gentlemanly as ever, opening the door for Thessaly, even opening the passenger door for her when they got to the car.
Gentlemanly, attentive, and meticulous.
