Chapter 1083 Only I Am Most Suitable for Penelope

In a family where the husband has always had a stable job and a regular schedule, suddenly starting to work late and go on business trips is definitely suspicious and worth investigating.

But... she and Kelvin, they were in love, committed, forever!

They trusted each other, never betraying one another!

"Alright, alright, let's just say he was talking without thinking," Penelope said. "You're not really on a business trip, and he doesn't know the truth. I'll be back soon, wait for me, okay?"

"Bye."

Kelvin smiled as he watched her leave the hospital room, listening to her footsteps fade away until they disappeared.

The smile on his face slowly vanished.

Sam suspected he had another woman... this guy really understood men.

But unfortunately, Kelvin wasn't just any man. He would only ever love Penelope, and no other woman could catch his eye.

However, Kelvin seriously considered that if he had an affair, if he cheated and betrayed their marriage... would Penelope leave him without hesitation?

Using this method to push her away might be the quickest way right now.

Once she confirmed he had another woman, it would be a devastating blow to Penelope.

She would be heartbroken and sad, and then decide to end the marriage.

At that point... she could be free.

Kelvin closed his eyes tightly.

This was the best way he could think of to push her away!

If she hurt a little, he hurt ten times more.

If she hurt a lot, he... would be in unbearable pain!

Outside, the sound of leather shoes hitting the floor suddenly echoed.

Kelvin's eyes snapped open, looking towards the door.

"Mr. Davis," the bodyguard reported, "Mr. Walker is here to see you. What should I do?"

Brandon?

What was he doing here?

Before Kelvin could respond, Brandon's voice came from outside, "Mr. Davis, I heard you weren't feeling well, so I came to visit. You wouldn't refuse me, would you?"

Kelvin's hospitalization was kept secret, so how did Brandon find out?

"Oh, by the way," Brandon continued, "I saw Penelope taking the elevator down when I arrived. Isn't that convenient? With her gone, we can talk more freely."

Kelvin's expression darkened. "Let him in!"

The bodyguard stepped aside.

Brandon walked in with a bouquet of flowers, smiling brightly.

He looked so pleased with himself, his face full of joy.

Of course, for him, Thessaly had agreed to drop the lawsuit, Penelope had only distanced herself from him without hating him, and Kelvin had a terminal illness...

He had every reason to be pleased!

Even though his previous plan had failed, it didn't stop him from moving forward with the next one!

Until the end, none could foresee the ultimate victor.

"A small token of my appreciation," Brandon said, placing the flowers down. "I hope Mr. Davis will accept it."

Kelvin narrowed his eyes at him, his gaze full of warning and threat. "Your information network is more efficient than I thought... it seems I can't afford to underestimate you."

"Mr. Davis, you have a terminal illness. It was only a matter of time before you ended up in the hospital," Brandon replied. "When I saw all the bodyguards coming and going, I guessed you must be here, so I came to visit."

"Get to the point, no need for small talk!"

Kelvin didn't want Brandon to stay too long, in case he ran into Penelope.

Penelope had only gone out to get breakfast and would be back in half an hour at most!

Brandon, however, wasn't in a hurry. He slowly pulled out a chair and sat down.

"Your condition will only get worse," Brandon said. "Today you're suddenly hospitalized, tomorrow you might be on oxygen in the ICU, and the day after that bedridden..."

"Shut up!"

"I'm just stating a fact, Kelvin. You have cancer, not a common cold."

Kelvin glared at him. "So what? What does it have to do with you?"

"You won't be able to grow old with Penelope. You'll break your promise," Brandon said, looking at him. "So, for the next few decades, do you really want to see her raising Sam and Lucy alone, managing the Davis Group by herself? Do you know how much pressure that is?"

Kelvin pressed his lips together.

Of course, he knew.

From the moment he was diagnosed, he had already imagined many possible futures.

He could hand the company over to Penelope, have Timothy assist her, but... he couldn't be there for her anymore.

Countless nights, she would have to wipe away her tears alone, face everything with strength, and be strong on her own.

Others could help Penelope with the daytime matters.

But at night, the emptiness in her heart could only be filled by a loved one.

But by then, Kelvin would be gone. How could he comfort her, give her a shoulder and an embrace to rely on?

"Let's cut to the chase," Brandon said, looking at him. "You know what I want. We talked about this before. You could refuse me then because you hadn't experienced the despair of illness by yourself. Now... I think you know what to do."

"You still haven't given up. You still want Penelope."

Brandon admitted, "I've always wanted her. I love her. I'll treat her well. I'll treat Sam and Lucy as my own. Kelvin, you won't find anyone else in LA more suitable for Penelope than me."

They had known each other since childhood, and they had been engaged.

He loved her, loved her enough to make many mistakes to get her.

But so what?

Yes, Brandon could accept that Kelvin was the one who loved Penelope the most in the world, but Kelvin wouldn't be in this world much longer.

He was the second person who loved Penelope the most. Without Kelvin, he would be the first! Absolutely the first!

"You're not suitable," Kelvin said. "You're not good enough for her!"

"You might be good enough, but do you have the life to be with her?"

One sentence hit Kelvin's sore spot!

Brandon crossed his arms and asked quietly, "You don't think Nathan is more suitable than me, do you?"

Kelvin remained silent.

"Nathan has been getting close to Tina lately," Brandon said. "I think you know about this."

Kelvin narrowed his eyes. "How many spies have you planted? You even know about these things?"

Brandon shrugged. "That's not important."

"...Looks like I need to clean up the people around me."

"Go ahead, I don't need them anymore."

Brandon's expression was full of confidence.

So what if he lost before?

Now, he was slowly winning back! Regaining the upper hand!

Kelvin's expression was cold, the blue and white hospital gown making him look even more haggard and exhausted.
