Chapter 933 You Ask Mr. Davis to Check Again
Kelvin didn't waste any time calling out Brandon's actions.
Brandon's face twitched, but he tried to keep his cool.
After a beat, Brandon finally said, "You really think my leaving will fix this? If it would, I'd be out of here in a heartbeat."
"I can't promise it'll fix everything, but as long as you're in LA, showing up around me and Penelope, it definitely won't."
"Alright," Brandon replied, "I'll... leave."
He knew if he kept dragging this out, Penelope would definitely catch on that something was up.
He agreed for now, planning to see how things played out.
Penelope... she probably wouldn't agree to let him go!
Brandon was betting on it! Betting that she'd ask him to stay, that she'd soften!
"Good!" Kelvin's voice rose, "When?"
"I..."
Brandon couldn't answer.
"Kelvin," Penelope finally couldn't take it anymore, "You're clearly trying to push him away. Stop it."
She tugged at his sleeve.
Kelvin slowly responded, "He hasn't left yet, Penelope."
If Brandon really left, that would be a different story.
Right now, it was all just talk.
But to Penelope, those words meant something else entirely.
"I..." she explained, "I'm not reluctant to see Brandon go, Kelvin, don't get me wrong."
In the past, she would have confidently said he misunderstood her.
But now... Penelope felt she owed Kelvin too much.
He didn't mind, he was understanding and comforting, but she felt she had wronged him, that she was no longer pure.
Kelvin frowned slightly and sighed, "Penelope, that's not what I meant. I mean... when Brandon actually leaves, then he's really gone. He might not leave."
"What? Why?" Penelope didn't understand, "He already said he would..."
"Saying and doing are two different things."
"Brandon always keeps his word. Is he... deliberately lying to me?"
Penelope couldn't figure it out.
Brandon wasn't like that. She had known him for years and understood his character.
Kelvin's thin lips moved, and he finally said, "Penelope, people... change."
She was stunned.
People change.
Those words gave her a sense of disorientation.
Had Brandon changed? Was he no longer the gentleman she once knew?
She felt Brandon was still the same, but... her perspective and feelings towards him had completely changed.
Because their relationship was no longer pure friendship.
It had become tainted.
"Penelope," Kelvin added, "No one stays the same forever. Not me, not you, and not... Brandon."
He didn't dare to be too direct, fearing Penelope couldn't handle it.
He could only hint subtly.
Hoping... she would understand.
Penelope was thinking, but deep down, she still wanted to believe in Brandon's character.
Because of their long-standing friendship, Brandon's years of support and help couldn't be easily shaken, making her doubt that Brandon was no longer the same Brandon.
Brandon watched them, roughly guessing what Kelvin would say.
Kelvin had seen through him completely, but without evidence, he couldn't expose what Brandon had done.
In the future, Kelvin would definitely badmouth him to Penelope.
Brandon didn't care. Let Kelvin talk!
Maybe Penelope would think Kelvin was just being petty about that night at the motel, deliberately stirring things up.
"Penelope," Brandon said softly, "I can't give you an exact time right now because... I have a lot to wrap up in LA. Once I've settled everything, I'll leave."
"When that day comes... I won't say goodbye."
"I know you don't really want to see me."
Penelope looked at him, "Are you really leaving? Do you have to?"
Brandon nodded, "It's the only solution."
"But..." Penelope gave a bitter smile, "You leaving, disappearing, doesn't mean it never happened. Besides, why should you leave to fix everything while I do nothing?"
"Because I want you to be happy. Penelope, you must be happy, always."
Brandon's eyes were full of sincerity, full of longing and reluctance.
Such a genuine look made Penelope unable to meet his gaze!
She turned her head and saw a car speeding towards them.
The car quickly stopped beside Brandon.
And the person who got out... was Thessaly!
"Thessaly?" Penelope was surprised, breaking free from Kelvin's embrace and walking quickly towards her, "Why are you here?"
Thessaly looked distressed, her eyes filled with tears, pitifully.
She tightly grasped Penelope's hand, "No, I don't believe it... it can't be!"
"What happened?"
"How could it be the waiter?" Thessaly spoke to herself, her voice full of despair, "This isn't the truth, it can't be... Penelope, ask Mr. Davis to investigate again, please... I'm begging you."
The waiter?
Penelope looked at Kelvin.
She remembered Brandon mentioning earlier that Kelvin had taken a waiter from the restaurant.
Kelvin spoke calmly, "He's not the mastermind, just a scapegoat."
"I knew it, I knew it!" Thessaly was very agitated, "Mr. Davis, keep investigating, we can't let the real culprit get away! We must bring them to justice... I can't lose my reputation like this..."
Her body trembled uncontrollably, and she was unable to stand, leaning on Penelope for support.
Penelope, though exhausted, continued to comfort Thessaly.
Thessaly... was truly pitiful.
Her mental state had collapsed, her career might be on hold, she had no energy to act, tormented day and night by that night's events, unable to face Paul... and Thessaly had no one to comfort her.
Who would comfort Thessaly? She was single.
Penelope was lucky to have Kelvin by her side, always supporting and encouraging her.
The more she thought about it, the more Penelope felt for Thessaly.
"It will be," she assured, "Thessaly, I promise to get to the bottom of this! I won't let you be dragged down because of me..."
"Penelope..."
Thessaly's tears fell like rain.
She couldn't take it anymore, seeing that waiter made her want to run, unable to face it.
Only hate, only entanglement... thinking about the movie... she wanted to film, but she also deeply hated Paul!
