Chapter 472 I'll come to The King Manor to Hang out with you Tomorrow!
Lucy had been racking her brain for ages but still couldn't figure it out.
She didn't want Madison to be pissed or upset, but she really had no clue what she did wrong.
The butler noticed Lucy looking all down in the dumps.
"Miss Cooper," the butler asked, super concerned, "what's eating you? You can tell me if something's bugging you. Mr. Davis told me to take good care of you."
Lucy just shook her head.
She wasn't about to badmouth Madison.
Madison was always gonna be the woman she loved the most.
Maybe Madison was just wiped from taking care of her in the hospital these past few days, and that's why she snapped.
"Uncle Butler," Lucy said, "can I borrow your phone?"
"Sure thing. You wanna call Mr. Davis?" the butler asked.
"No, just hand it over," Lucy said.
As soon as the butler handed over the phone, Lucy grabbed it and bolted back to her room, locking the door behind her.
She needed to call Sam!
She missed Sam like crazy! Just hearing his voice would be enough!
When they were together, they bickered a lot, but their bond only got stronger over time.
Now that they had been apart for so long, Lucy missed Sam.
Lucy dialed the number one digit at a time and made the call.
Over at the Cooper family mansion, Sam was busy building Legos.
His smartwatch suddenly buzzed.
He glanced at the number; it was unfamiliar. Just as he was about to ignore it, Penelope, who was next to him, noticed it, "That number looks familiar."
"Really? Should I pick it up?" Sam asked.
"Yeah," Penelope said.
Sam did as told, "Hello, this is..."
Before he could finish, Lucy's excited voice came through, "Sam!"
Penelope and Sam exchanged looks.
Penelope was a bit surprised and excited. She quickly sat cross-legged next to Sam, listening closely to Lucy's call.
In contrast, Sam stayed super chill, "Oh, it's you, Lucy."
"Yeah, yeah," Lucy said, "Sam, I miss you. Do you miss me?"
"Of course I do. You feeling better? How's your health?" Sam asked.
"I'm all good now. Just got out of the hospital today. Sam, when can we meet again?" Lucy asked, "I haven't seen you since the amusement park. Uncle Brandon said you're staying at his place now, right?"
Penelope, beside him, was a bit anxious, constantly giving Sam looks and whispering, "Make sure to remind Lucy not to mention you in front of Madison and Kelvin!"
Sam glanced at her and made an "OK" gesture.
Such calmness was totally inherited from Kelvin.
He was so mature for his age.
"Yeah, I'm staying at Uncle Brandon's," Sam replied, "Mom doesn't know about this, so you gotta keep it on the down-low, or she'll send me back to the small town."
"Yeah, Uncle Brandon reminded me, and I remember. I just hope you can come to the King Manor so we can all live together as a family."
Sam responded, "I'll come over. Just hang tight a bit longer."
"How much longer?" Lucy asked.
"Just a bit. Didn't you used to find me annoying?" Sam teased her to lighten the mood, "Now you can't wait to see me?"
But after he said that, Lucy didn't argue with him. Instead, her voice sounded like she was about to cry, "Sam..."
This had Penelope and Sam all worried.
"What's up, Lucy? Missing me so much you're crying?" Sam asked.
"No, Sam, I feel..." Lucy said softly, "I feel like Mom's changed a lot, to the point where I almost don't recognize her."
Penelope's heart suddenly tightened.
Madison must be starting to show her true colors. She was no longer as attentive to Lucy and was starting to lose patience.
In Lucy's eyes, Madison was the best mom in the world, but now she wasn't as good as before. How heartbroken Lucy must be.
"No, it's just your imagination," Sam tried to comfort her, "Mom will always be the best mom. Don't overthink it."
"Sam, is it because I'm causing trouble for Mom, so..." Lucy said.
"No, no, you're so cute, sweet, beautiful, and smart. How could anyone find you troublesome?" Sam's eyes darted around, "How about this, Lucy, I'll come to the King Manor to hang out with you tomorrow!"
Lucy got excited immediately, "Really?"
"When have I ever lied to you?" Sam said.
"Awesome!" Lucy responded repeatedly, "Sam, I'll be waiting for you tomorrow!"
"Alright, you'll soon see the handsome and dashing me!" Sam said.
"I'll be waiting!" Lucy said.
As soon as Sam hung up, Penelope grabbed his ear.
"Ouch, ouch, it hurts! It hurts!" Sam grimaced, "Be gentle! My ear's gonna fall off!"
"Do you know what you just said?" Penelope was almost frantic.
She kept gesturing and giving him looks, but Sam just wouldn't listen or look. He even agreed to go to the King Manor to see Lucy tomorrow!
How could he?
That's the King Manor! Kelvin's territory! It was full of his people inside and out!
And Madison was there.
If Madison found out that Sam was her and Kelvin's son...
Penelope didn't even dare to think further!
"I know exactly what I said." Sam deftly escaped from her grasp, covering his reddened ear, "Don't worry, I have a plan!"
Penelope was both angry and amused, "What plan? Why didn't you discuss it with me before making a decision?"
"Because I already have a solution." Sam began to explain seriously, "Last time, Lucy and I met at the amusement park, and Uncle Kelvin was there. He knows me. Tomorrow, I can have Uncle Brandon take me to the King Manor, saying that Lucy just got out of the hospital and I'm visiting her as a friend. Doesn't that make sense? And you can come too." Sam blinked, looking confident.
Penelope pointed at herself. "Me? Go with you and Brandon to the King Manor tomorrow?"
"Yes!" Sam said.
"But Lucy doesn't want to see me," Penelope said, "I can't appear in front of her again."
She didn't want to hear Lucy say those hurtful things again.
Even though she knew it wasn't Lucy's intention, it still hurt every time she heard it.
"That's easy!" Sam snapped his fingers, "You can change your appearance, and Lucy won't recognize you!"
Penelope was stunned, "Change my appearance? Are you saying I should get plastic surgery? Is there still time?"
"Makeup! You can make yourself look older, add some wrinkles, change your hairstyle, and wear Ruby's clothes. Just say you're Ruby's relative. That way, Lucy won't reject you," Sam said.
