Chapter 1045 You Broke Up with the Angel Thessaly
Sam chewed thoughtfully and said, "I got a gift for Thessaly, and since she's got a boyfriend, I got him a little something too. I'm gonna give it to her personally this weekend."
Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "Why do you visit Thessaly every weekend?"
"Because I miss her. When you miss someone, you go see them, buy them things, and spend time with them. Isn't that right?"
Kelvin had no response.
"What's the problem?" Sam asked, "I have to go. I need to give her the gift myself. I can't wait!"
"We'll talk about it this weekend."
"If you don't take me, I'll go by myself."
At that moment, Penelope, who had been quiet, suddenly spoke up, "Thessaly doesn't have a boyfriend anymore."
Her words were shocking.
Even Sam was left speechless, his mouth half-open, stunned for a long time.
Kelvin pressed his lips together, remaining silent.
He knew her emotions were unstable, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts.
Let her speak candidly to the kids if she wanted to.
He would always stand by her side, supporting her decisions.
"No... boyfriend?" Sam finally snapped out of it, asking in a daze, "What happened?"
Lucy looked equally confused.
Sam took a sharp breath and suddenly stood up, "What happened to Uncle Brandon? Did he have an accident? Is he sick? Am I not going to see him again?"
Kelvin and Penelope were taken aback by his reaction.
They hadn't expected Sam to think Brandon was... dead.
"Is he? Kelvin, Mom, say something, stop dragging it out," Sam was on the verge of tears, "Uncle Brandon is such a good person. He bought me toys when we were in the small town, and let me stay at his place when we moved to LA. I really like him. He can't meet with misfortune."
Seeing his genuine concern, Penelope quickly reassured him, "You're overthinking, Sam. Brandon is fine, healthy."
"Really?"
"Of course. Why would I lie about something like this?"
Sam finally relaxed, the tears in his eyes slowly receding.
"Uncle Brandon is a good man. Good people deserve good things," Sam said, "He was always so kind to me. I'll never forget him."
Penelope sighed.
"Sam, Lucy," Penelope gently touched their heads, "What I meant is, Brandon and Thessaly broke up. They're not together anymore, not boyfriend and girlfriend, and they won't be getting married. They're strangers now."
More accurately, they're enemies.
They've turned against each other!
Thessaly hated Brandon for ruining her reputation and life.
Brandon hated Thessaly for destroying his plans!
"Why?" Lucy asked softly, "They always seemed so happy together. Why did they suddenly break up?"
Sam also asked, "Who broke up with whom? Was it Thessaly? Did she stop loving Uncle Brandon? Did she fall for someone else?"
Penelope looked at him, "Why do you think... it was Thessaly who stopped loving Brandon? Why not Brandon who stopped loving Thessaly?"
The kids adored Thessaly, calling her an angel, always hugging and kissing her.
When faced with a problem, they seemed to side with Brandon.
"Uncle Brandon is a gentleman—handsome, responsible, wealthy, and loyal. He chose to be with Thessaly, and he would have a good relationship, wouldn't break up easily, and wouldn't change his mind so quickly," Sam replied. "He's a good man."
"So you're saying Thessaly isn't a good woman?"
Sam thought for a moment. "She's beautiful, gentle, and treats Lucy and me well. But we haven't known her long enough to be sure what kind of person she is. We've known Uncle Brandon for years. He's definitely reliable."
Sam's answer made sense.
To truly know someone, a few meetings aren't enough. Looks aren't enough. It takes years of interaction.
Brandon had always been a good person.
Time tested a person's character.
But people could change.
Despite their fondness for Thessaly, they called her an angel, but when problems arose, they chose to trust Brandon.
The kids were mature for their age.
But Brandon had betrayed their trust.
Penelope couldn't hold back. "It's not Thessaly's fault. It's Brandon's. He did something wrong. He doesn't deserve Thessaly."
Sam's mouth opened wider.
He couldn't believe it, looking at Penelope in confusion. "Mom, are you serious?"
"Every word I said is true."
Sam paused for a couple of seconds, then suddenly put down his fork. "No way, I need to call Uncle Brandon!"
Why would Uncle Brandon be the one at fault?
Thessaly was beautiful and kind. Why wouldn't he stay with her, marry her, and have kids?
Thessaly was so much better than that awful Isabella!
No, Isabella couldn't even compare to Thessaly!
"Sam!" Penelope called. "Come back!"
But Sam ran off quickly, disappearing in an instant.
Penelope was anxious, quickly getting up to chase him. "Sam! Kelvin, why didn't you stop him?"
"Let him go," Kelvin replied. "Penelope, the kids need to know the truth eventually. Unless you and Brandon can keep things as they were."
She paused.
After what happened, how could she pretend nothing had changed?
Just seeing Brandon made her angry, though... mostly it hurt.
There was no going back.
Someone who schemed to get her, almost ruined her reputation and family, how could she forgive that?
She couldn't.
Thinking about her and Brandon in the same bed, her clothes... Penelope closed her eyes.
She was unconscious, and Brandon was fully aware of what he was doing!
If Kelvin's men had arrived a bit later, Brandon would have succeeded! It was so close! Just one step away!
In the living room.
Sam stood on tiptoe, picked up the phone, and dialed the number.
He knew Brandon's number by heart, dialing it quickly.
Soon, the call connected.
"Hello?" Brandon's voice was hesitant, disbelieving. "Penelope... is that you?"
It was The King Manor's number. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw it!
"Uncle Brandon, it's me, Sam."
"Oh, Sam..."
Sam got straight to the point. "Mom said you and Thessaly broke up. Is it true?"
