Chapter 839 To Be Honest, I Also Have a Request for Kelvin

"Listen up, Sam," Lucy said earnestly. "Mom's like a queen who's been ignored, always hoping the king would drop by her palace. When he does, she lights up, running around all happy, doing everything she can to make him happy..."

Penelope was speechless.

Honestly, Lucy's description wasn't far off.

That eager-to-please look of hers was spot on!

Penelope couldn't help but laugh, pinching Lucy's cheek. "You always say the craziest things, but somehow they make sense."

"And," Penelope added, "you're so young, what kind of TV shows have you been watching? Queens and servants, favored and unfavored, you seem to know a lot!"

"They're really interesting," Lucy said. "Mom, when I grow up, I want to be an actress, a star. That way, you and Dad can watch me on TV from home!"

Sam looked at her. "You? Probably a minor character who dies in the first episode!"

"No way, I'd be the lead actress! The main character!"

"With our family's resources, we could make you the lead, but it would cost a lot. What a waste of money."

Lucy retorted, "It's not like you're the one earning the money."

"Not now, but I will be," Sam reasoned. "By the time you're old enough to act, it'll be my money you're spending! But fine, since you're my only sister, I am willing to provide for you. I'll work harder and retire later."

"Whatever, I can earn my own money. Actors get paid, you know!"

The two kids bickered back and forth, serious yet childish.

Penelope was laughing so hard she collapsed into Kelvin's arms.

After their argument, Sam sidled up to her. "Mom."

"What?"

They were in a competition right now!

Both vying for Kelvin's favor, afraid of falling behind!

"What do you want?" Sam asked. "I want to see the spaceship launch, so I'm trying to get on Kelvin's good side. You don't even want to go, so why are you competing with me?"

Couldn't she wait until he got what he wanted?

Why now?

"To be honest," Penelope replied, "I have something to ask Kelvin, too."

Sam looked at her in surprise. "You? What could you possibly need?"

"It's a long story."

"Mom, how many times have I told you," Sam said earnestly, "to improve your standing in the family, to become the boss. You need to make Kelvin go east when you say east, and not dare to go west!"

"You're the wife he went through hell and high water to marry, the only one in the world. If he's even a little bit bad to you, you should have the guts to replace him anytime!"

"That way, you wouldn't need to ask him for anything. If you wanted the stars, he'd get them for you with just one word!"

Penelope muttered, "Why does that sound familiar? I think I told you that."

"You said Kelvin could get the stars, that he could do anything."

"Oh."

Sam looked at her, exasperated. "That's not the point. The point is what I said before! Were you even listening?"

He was about to lose it!

"What do you know, you're just a kid," Penelope replied. "This is important, let's deal with it first. Family standing can come later, no rush!"

Besides, her standing wasn't low!

Kelvin treated her well!

Sam shook his head repeatedly. "Hopeless, hopeless. Mom, did Kelvin cast some spell on you, making you so devoted to him..."

"Stop," Penelope said. "I'm not competing with you. You go ahead and be attentive. I give up, and I withdraw, okay?"

Sam's face lit up. "Great!"

With Penelope out of the way, Sam could serve Kelvin without worry!

Pouring tea and water were minor tasks.

As soon as Kelvin's eyes moved, Sam was right there, afraid of being negligent.

Penelope muttered, "Lucy said you act like a servant, and she wasn't wrong!"

Sam heard her and shot her a look.

Why were his ears always so sharp?

The four of them sat on the couch, watching TV, with the servants outside, not disturbing them.

A harmonious and warm family time.

Penelope thought that if only she hadn't had so much on her mind, it would be perfect.

But she was thinking about Thessaly and the evening ahead.

The evening was her time to win Kelvin over!

And she couldn't talk about it, didn't know who to tell, and couldn't tell anyone.

It was too private!

At ten o'clock, Penelope left Lucy's room and returned to the master bedroom.

Kelvin was half-leaning against the headboard, wearing frameless gold glasses, holding a book. "Are they asleep?"

"Yes, Sam asked me when you're taking him to see the spaceship launch."

"He asked you, not me."

Penelope walked over and sat on the bed. "So you're just going to play dumb?"

"If he doesn't ask, how would I know?"

"Tsk tsk, you and your son are both so cunning."

Kelvin smirked. "Let's see who's better."

"Hey, do you really need to compete with your son?" Penelope asked. "Isn't that a bit much?"

"I need to show him who's the dad and who's the son," Kelvin said, turning a page. "So he doesn't think he can ignore me."

He needed to set some rules.

Otherwise, Sam might really think no one could control him.

"Take it easy, okay? Don't go too far," Penelope reminded. "If things go south and your relationship gets worse, I won't be able to help fix it!"

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

"Are you sure?"

Kelvin looked up from his book, adjusting his glasses. "You don't trust me?"

"No, of course I do," Penelope corrected herself. "Just a friendly reminder."

She couldn't afford to upset Kelvin now!

Otherwise, what about Thessaly?

She had already promised, and failing would be so embarrassing!

Kelvin put the book down and just looked at her, his eyes deep and meaningful.

He didn't say a word.

Penelope felt nervous under his gaze, knowing what it meant.

She really didn't understand how Kelvin had so much energy.

He handled so much work during the day, meetings, clients, barely had time to eat, and at night, he still had the energy for sex.
