Chapter 420 Because Mommy Only Has Me

"I promise, if you bring Lucy back, I'll let you leave LA, give you money, and ensure you live comfortably. I always keep my word!" Penelope said.

Madison sneered. "You think you can just buy me off?"

"So, what do you want?"

"I want to be Mrs. Davis!" Madison said proudly. "I want to marry into wealth and have my kids in the upper class!"

Her ambition was huge!

Penelope warned, "Madison, know your limits. Aren't you afraid you'll end up with nothing?"

"I still have Lucy. If I go down, she goes down with me!"

Penelope was shocked. "You wouldn't dare!"

"Just watch. You'd better make my life easy, or Lucy suffers more than I do!" Madison sneered. "Telling me to leave LA? I won't fall for that childish lie!!"

Without Lucy as leverage, Kelvin would destroy her!

Let her go? Give her money? What a joke!

Madison had no choice but to cling to Lucy!

Right now, she wouldn't listen to reason.

Kelvin and Penelope were stuck.

They couldn't deal with her, and just looking at her was infuriating!

Penelope gritted her teeth. "Be arrogant now, but Lucy will wake up eventually!"

"I know you had the doctors check Lucy thoroughly. Go ahead, you won't find anything!"

Penelope couldn't stand her attitude anymore and walked away.

She was only getting angrier!

Outside the exam room, Madison stood far away, blocked by bodyguards.

Kelvin and Penelope waited for the final results.

But the results were disappointing.

"We checked Lucy's body and brain thoroughly, but found nothing abnormal," the doctor said. "Everything is normal, the surgery was successful, and she's recovering well."

Penelope wavered. "Then why doesn't she recognize me?"

"The human brain is complex. With current technology, we can only detect so much."

"Is there no other way?"

The doctor shook his head. "For now, we can only observe. Let's focus on her physical recovery first, then address the mental aspects."

Except for not recognizing Penelope, Lucy was normal in every other way.

She recognized Brandon, remembered the amusement park, and knew she had a twin brother, Sam.

"Maybe..." the doctor paused. "You and Ms. Garcia look too similar, causing neural confusion in Lucy?"

No matter the theories, without a solution, it was pointless.

Penelope felt dejected again.

When Lucy was wheeled out, she gently touched her cheek. "Lucy, when will you come back to me?"

Only when Lucy was asleep could she get close.

When Lucy was awake, she feared her, hid from her, and cowered behind Madison, looking at her with wary, timid eyes as if she were a bad person.

Maybe Madison had told Lucy that Penelope was a bad woman who stole Kelvin and broke up the family. Just thinking about it broke Penelope's heart.

At the Walker family home.

"Uncle Brandon!" Sam shouted as soon as Brandon walked in. "You're back! Are you tired? I'll get you tea, massage your shoulders, tell you stories, and turn on the TV."

Sam's chatter was nonstop, like he was born for stand-up comedy.

Usually, Brandon would joke with him, but today he wasn't in the mood.

"Did you see Lucy?" Sam asked. "Is she better? Was the surgery successful? How's my Mommy? Is she tired? Did she lose weight? When can I see them both?"

Brandon looked at him seriously.

Sam's smile faded, and his face turned serious. "What's wrong, Uncle Brandon? Did something happen?"

"Yes."

Sam got nervous. "Who hurt them? Tell me, and I'll help!"

Brandon picked him up, sat him on his lap, and explained everything in detail.

He didn't treat Sam like a child but seriously analyzed the situation, including why Penelope didn't let him acknowledge his father and wanted him to return to the county.

Sam understood everything because he was smart.

"So, Mommy only has me left; I'm her last hope," Sam said. "If everyone knew I was Uncle Kelvin's son, I might end up like Lucy, calling someone else Dad and Mommy."

"Exactly. Penelope is cautious. Better safe than sorry. So, Sam, she doesn't not love you; she loves you too much."

"I get it!" Sam replied. "I don't blame Mommy; I just want to help her get Lucy back!"

Brandon looked troubled. "It's not that easy."

"But we have to find a way," Sam said, rubbing his chin. "What can I do?"

Brandon was also thinking.

They both fell into deep thought, their brows furrowed.

Soon, Brandon remembered something and called the butler.

"Mr. Walker," the butler said respectfully. "What can I do for you?"

"A few days ago, was there a crazy woman seen around here?"

"A crazy woman?"

Brandon nodded. "Yes. A woman talking nonsense and rummaging through trash cans."

The butler thought for a moment. "There was such a woman, but the security guards chased her away."

"Chased her away? Where to?"

"You'd have to ask the security guards."

Brandon immediately gathered all the Walker family's security guards.

"Who saw that crazy woman?"

One of the security guards raised his hand.

"You?" Brandon asked. "Where did you chase her to? When was it? When was the last time you saw her?"

The security guard was about to answer when Isabella walked in.

"Brandon?" Seeing the security guards lined up, Isabella was puzzled. "What's going on?"

She then looked at Sam standing next to Brandon.

Why was it Sam again?

She had seen him several times!

And this time, Brandon was holding his hand, looking very close and harmonious.

"Isabella, you're back just in time," Brandon said. "You've been managing the household affairs. Did you see a crazy woman wandering around here a few days ago?"
