Chapter 874 I'm Here to Take You Home, Penelope
Brandon's steps were too quick, his movements too abrupt. As he reached out to open the door, he leaned towards her.
Penelope instinctively moved aside!
She didn't want to be so close to Brandon!
But in her haste, she lost her balance. "Ah!"
Penelope let out a startled cry as she began to fall.
"Penelope? Watch out!"
Seeing this, Brandon quickly reached out to catch her.
But Penelope didn't want his help!
She'd rather fall!
Kelvin and Thessaly's photos were taken because Thessaly accidentally slipped, and Kelvin helped her, making them look intimate!
With that lesson learned, Penelope was determined not to repeat the same mistake!
So, Penelope tried to avoid Brandon's hand!
Just then, the door to the private room suddenly swung open from the outside, almost hitting Penelope!
But this gave Penelope an opportunity!
Quickly, she grabbed the door handle in front of her, using its support to steady herself!
Thank goodness, Penelope let out a sigh of relief.
A close call!
Seeing this, Brandon's outstretched hand could only retreat, hanging by his side.
He unconsciously clenched his fist.
Penelope's intention was clear; he saw it immediately!
She'd rather fall than let him help!
She was avoiding suspicion!
And then, another wave hit!
Penelope looked up at the door. Who had suddenly opened it?
But thanks to this person, she had the chance to grab the door handle and steady herself!
Penelope was stunned, "Kelvin?"
Why was he here?
Kelvin's gaze fell on her, scanning her from head to toe.
After confirming she was fine, he spoke calmly, "I'm here to take you home, Penelope."
Seeing Kelvin, Penelope suddenly felt a wave of relief.
She was no longer anxious, no longer worried, completely relaxed.
"Perfect timing," Penelope replied, "I was just about to head home."
"Really? Then I guess I came at the right time."
With that, Kelvin extended his arm, wrapping it around Penelope's waist, pulling her into his embrace.
Leaning against him, smelling his familiar scent, Penelope finally felt at ease.
"Mr. Davis," Brandon greeted, "Long time no see."
Kelvin's expression was indifferent, but he had a hint of a smile, "Long time no see. Penelope mentioned that today is your birthday, and she came to celebrate with you. She even left the kids with me to take care of."
"Yes, I'm very grateful she came to celebrate. This will be my most memorable birthday."
"That's a bit premature," Kelvin replied, "Life is long, and there will be other women celebrating your birthday. Today is nothing special."
His implication was clear: Brandon would eventually have other women by his side.
Moreover, Penelope celebrating Brandon's birthday was merely out of courtesy and politeness, which was not worth mentioning.
Brandon had nothing to boast about.
And he wouldn't dwell on it.
"Yes, a birthday is just an ordinary day in life," Brandon said. "Mr. Davis, you arrived a bit late. We've already finished eating, and I was about to take Penelope home."
"I'll take her. There is no need to trouble yourself, Mr. Walker."
"Alright, I'm relieved then. Otherwise, it wouldn't be safe for a young woman to travel alone at night."
Brandon kept his cool, smiling with a calm expression, showing no extra emotions.
Kelvin looked at him.
Their gazes met, a hint of confrontation in the air.
Penelope kept her head slightly down, not paying attention to their conversation.
She just wanted to go home and rest early.
Kelvin's hand around her waist was like a hot iron, steady and warm.
"Let's go, Penelope."
"Okay," she responded, looking at Brandon, "I'm leaving now. Bye."
"Bye."
Brandon stood at the door of the private room, watching Kelvin and Penelope walk away.
Only when their figures completely disappeared from sight did Brandon's expression turn cold.
"Mr. Walker," the manager asked, "You..."
"Get out!"
Brandon turned back into the private room, slamming the door shut!
The leftover birthday cake, steak, salad, and other dishes were barely touched.
The more he looked, the angrier he got!
Where did it go wrong?
Why did his carefully planned scandal between Kelvin and Thessaly have no effect?
Kelvin and Penelope were still as loving as ever, with no rift between them?
Penelope was so forgiving, not angry at all? Not questioning or blaming?
Those photos, anyone who saw them would think the relationship between the man and woman was unusual!
Brandon had hoped that this incident would create suspicion and distrust between Kelvin and Penelope, so that he could use the birthday excuse to be alone with Penelope.
He thought Penelope would talk to him about the photos, be sad and hurt, and he could comfort her!
But...
It was completely unexpected!
Penelope didn't mention a word, even showing affection in front of him!
More importantly, the red wine!
Brandon looked at the wine bottle, suddenly walked over quickly, poured a full glass, and sniffed it.
Yes, it was the wine he brought.
Inside, he had added a little stimulant.
After drinking it, one would become excited, their body hot, their consciousness slightly blurred, and they would act completely different from their usual self, very uninhibited.
Brandon didn't dare let Penelope drink too much, knowing she wouldn't drink much.
A sip was enough.
Too much, she would notice something was wrong and suspect him.
Just a little, Penelope wouldn't notice, and Brandon could achieve his goal!
But he never expected that Penelope would want to go home early. From her walking posture, he could see the drug was already taking effect.
Just needed to wait a bit longer, five more minutes.
But Brandon didn't expect Kelvin to show up at that moment!
With that, Brandon's long-planned scheme completely failed!
Not a single part succeeded!
"Smash!"
Brandon swept the wine glass to the ground, the bottle shattering into pieces.
"Damn it, damn it!" he roared, "Why did all my careful preparations end up in vain! Why!"
"Where did it go wrong? What wasn't good enough?"
"I know one or two attempts won't make Penelope decide to leave Kelvin, but I didn't expect this time to have no effect at all!"
Brandon was unwilling!
His eyes were red, leaning on the table, staring at the exquisite cake.
She celebrated his birthday...
