Chapter 643 She Doesn't Care About us

"We're here to get the scoop on you," Tina said, blinking. "Penelope, you just got back from Mr. Davis's office. How'd it go?"

Monica jumped in right away, "Did you guys get cozy?"

"Come on, spill the beans," Monica whispered. "We did give you some tips, after all."

Penelope was at a loss for words.

"Nothing happened between Kelvin and me," Penelope said seriously. "This is work, during work hours. What are you thinking?"

Monica raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously telling me that? Tina, do you buy that nothing happened between her and Mr. Davis?"

Tina shook her head.

"Who is Mr. Davis? Every time he looks at you, it's like a wolf eyeing a rabbit, ready to pounce. You had such a golden opportunity, and he didn't make a move?"

"Exactly," Tina chimed in. "Come on, we're all adults here, spill a little."

Penelope reiterated, "Can you guys keep your thoughts clean? You're overthinking it. Nothing happened!"

Although, something almost did. If she had given the nod, Kelvin would have totally turned into a big bad wolf.

But it didn't happen in the end!

Penelope stood firm!

Monica and Tina gave her skeptical looks.

"Fine, don't believe me then," Penelope said, turning to her computer and ignoring them.

Then, Monica and Tina started teaming up, creating a united front.

"Well, now she's Mrs. Davis. She's got a fancy title and an heir. There's a gap between us."

"Penelope doesn't see me as a friend anymore."

"She keeps secrets from us, even though I was running around with my phone trying to help. She only comes to me when she needs something, otherwise, she ignores me."

"She's got Mr. Davis wrapped around her finger, she doesn't care about us anymore."

Penelope couldn't take it anymore.

She sighed helplessly. "Alright, everything happened just like you thought. Happy now?"

Then she added, "Order whatever you want; this meal's on me."

"I knew it!" Monica responded. "You were just being stubborn. We've been friends for so many years. What is there to hide from me? I've even seen your birthmark!"

Penelope really wanted to stuff her ears with cotton.

She was completely forced to admit it.

Unexpectedly, Tina's next words shocked her even more.

"Penelope, you weren't in the CEO's office for long," Tina said. "Mr. Davis finishes quickly."

Penelope was stunned.

Monica started laughing wildly, her laughter echoing through the office.

Tina realized she had spoken too quickly and covered her mouth. "I just said it casually, pretend you didn't hear anything."

"Good job!" Monica patted her shoulder. "Right on point!"

Tina looked embarrassed.

She had no idea how she blurted that out.

"But looking at Mr. Davis's build, he works out regularly; he shouldn't be quick," Monica said. "Penelope's marital happiness is none of your concern. Just think about how to make her pay tonight! What are we eating? Pick the most expensive!"

"Barbecue! $3,000 per person!"

"That's the one!"

This meal would cost $9,000.

Penelope was heartbroken. "You guys are really ruthless!"

"You are Mrs. Davis of the Davis Group. You can't be short of money."

"That's Kelvin's premarital property."

Monica raised an eyebrow. "If you ask, he can transfer everything to your name. Then you'll be rich!"

Penelope was still heartbroken. "Let's wait until he transfers it, okay?"

Tina and Monica refused in unison, "No way!"

Alright, this meal was definitely on her.

"Don't worry, Penelope," Tina said playfully. "With the current popularity brought by your family photo for 'Radiant Rebirth,' you'll definitely get a bonus of hundreds of thousands of dollars by the end of the year!"

"Exactly! It's settled!"

Penelope nodded. "Alright, alright."

After work, Penelope went to have barbecue with them.

When girls got together, there was always endless gossip.

Penelope's phone lit up several times, but she didn't notice.

When they finished eating, she called the waiter, "Check, how much in total?"

"With drinks, it's $10,000," the waiter said. "But it's already paid."

Penelope paused as she was about to take out her card.

She looked at Monica and Tina. "Didn't we agree I would pay? You guys are so considerate, secretly paying the bill?"

Tina answered seriously, "Penelope, do I look like I can afford it?"

"Don't look at me," Monica said. "I've been here the whole time; how could I pay?"

It was strange.

Then who paid?

"A gentleman paid." The waiter smiled. "Enjoy your meal."

A gentleman?

Who?

Penelope was confused.

Not spending the money made her uneasy.

"Who cares?" Monica said. "Free food and drinks, isn't it great?"

"Aren't you worried?"

"What's there to worry about? In such a high-end barbecue place, only rich people come and go. Maybe someone recognized you and wanted to curry favor with you, so they paid."

Penelope thought it made sense.

But she didn't know any elites.

As they left the barbecue place, Tina waved. "Penelope, Monica, I'm taking a cab. Bye."

"Bye!"

Watching Tina leave in a cab, Monica nudged Penelope's shoulder. "Do you think she and Nathan can be together?"

"How would I know? Fate is unpredictable."

"Feels like she is in unrequited love." Monica sighed. "Nathan only has eyes for you; it might take him ten years to get over it."

Penelope immediately denied, "Stop talking nonsense."

As they were talking, a pink sports car suddenly drove up from a distance. It was very flashy and eye-catching!

"Such a flamboyant pink. If a girl was driving, it would be fine," Monica commented. "If it's a man, he is most likely a sissy."
