She had to distance herself to avoid being implicated if Kelvin set a trap for Timothy.

After a while, he spoke calmly, "Timothy."
"Yes! Mr. Davis! Just tell me what to do!"
"In light of your dedication to keeping my wife's secret, I want to thank you properly."
Timothy immediately felt a sense of doom.

After all these years of friendship, he knew what Kelvin was thinking!
"No, it's my duty," Timothy stammered, "I was forced."
He kept glancing at Penelope, signaling frantically with his eyes.
Penelope helplessly replied, "I really can't help you; I can't even protect myself."
Now Kelvin was settling scores with Timothy.
After they got home, he would settle scores with her!
Her miserable state, her pitiful look, no one else could see! No one could imagine!
Kelvin smiled slightly, "I said I wanted to thank you, why are you so nervous?"
"No need, I can't accept it, Mr. Davis, please let me go."
"Too late," Kelvin said, "The day before yesterday, Ryan handed me a document. I remember it well; it was a research report on the Crystal City mining site."
Crystal City? Mining? Digging?
Timothy thought, was he going to be sent to Crystal City to get all tanned and dirty?
Just the thought made him shiver!
"Coincidentally, that project needs a manager. You go," Kelvin said, "It's very suitable."
Timothy made a last-ditch effort, "I'm not suitable for this, am I?"
Kelvin replied, "You're the vice president of the company. Your going there shows how much we value this project."
"Another vice president would also show our importance."
"No, only you will do."
Timothy asked, "Can I refuse?"
"You can."
He was about to breathe a sigh of relief when he heard Kelvin say, "Then go to the Nightstar City branch, stay for a month or two, and get familiar with the overseas business."
As soon as he finished speaking, Timothy immediately refused, "No, I'll go to Crystal City!"
"Really?" Kelvin smirked, "You'd rather go to Crystal City than Nightstar City?"
"Kelvin, stop messing with me. I'll go to Crystal City. I'll go right now, buy a ticket tonight, and leave immediately. Is that okay?"
Timothy's attitude made a complete turnaround.

Monica was stunned, "Are you sure you don't want to go to Nightstar City and want to go to Crystal City?"

Anyone would choose Nightstar City!
What was so good about Crystal City?
It was hot and remote, nothing compared to a bustling metropolis!
Was Timothy out of his mind?

"Are you sure?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "Monica, do you think you can escape?"
"Huh?"

What was wrong with her?
"Mr. Davis, don't blame me wrongly." Monica quickly explained, "I didn't betray you, deceive you, or hide anything from you like Timothy did. I openly kept things from you!"
"Yes, I know."
She breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."
"So, I can openly make you Timothy's assistant," Kelvin's smile deepened, "Accompany him to Crystal City."
Monica was stunned on the spot.
And Timothy's previously downcast face suddenly lit up with excitement!
"Did I hear that right?" Timothy asked, "Kelvin, this trip to Crystal City, oh no, this project inspection in Crystal City, Monica is going with me?"
Kelvin corrected him, "Not going with you, it's a business trip, it's work."
Timothy could hardly hide his smile, "Yes, yes, work!"
He had accepted the harsh reality, but unexpectedly, things took a turn, and Kelvin was sending Monica to Crystal City with him!
"It's work, Monica," Timothy said with a grin, "A business trip, the two of us together. Crystal City is tough, but it has high allowances."

Going to Crystal City with Timothy?

"Go home and pack," he said, "The tickets are booked."
"I'm not going!"
