Chapter 36
He spun around and headed into the bathroom, cranking up the cold water.
Every time he kissed Penelope, he felt that burning desire!
Damn it!
Now Liam had someone tailing him, and Penelope had to crash in the same room. He was seriously worried he'd lose control one day!
After his shower, he walked out to find Penelope had already set up a bed on the floor next to his.
A faint fragrance hung in the air.
"I lit some aromatherapy," Penelope said, "It's calming and helps with sleep. You like it?"
Kelvin stayed silent, his face cold as he yanked off the towel around his waist and tossed it on the chair.
Penelope screamed, then quickly covered her eyes.
Good thing she was fast; a second slower and she would've seen Kelvin naked.
Kelvin lay on the bed and shut his eyes.
The scent of the aromatherapy was super soothing, making him drowsy, but he couldn't fall asleep.
Penelope listened to him tossing and turning and whispered, "Aromatherapy works better with a massage."
Two seconds later, Kelvin's voice came, "Get up here."
Penelope sat up, climbed onto the bed, and gently placed Kelvin's head on her lap.
Her fingertips landed on his temples, slowly massaging them.
Kelvin sneered, "You planned all this, didn't you?"
"Yes," she admitted.
Kelvin asked, "Trying to please me? Want the diamond bracelet?"
Penelope replied, "Yes."
Kelvin kept his eyes closed, his sharp features looking soft under the light.
But his words were still cold. "Let's see how you do."
Five minutes later, Kelvin was out cold, and Penelope stopped the massage.
At that moment, she was the closest person to him; it was just the two of them in the room.
Penelope hated him; he had completely wrecked her life.
If she wanted to kill him now, she could do it!
Penelope stared at Kelvin's chest. Just one stab, and it would all be over.
At worst, a life for a life.
Penelope, as if possessed, reached out her hand, her palm pressing against his heart, feeling the strong heartbeat.
A light flashed outside the window, and the sound of orderly footsteps gradually faded away.
It was the patrolling security.
Penelope's rationality snapped back. 'No, I can't be impulsive. I still have my child and my parents.'
If Kelvin died, the Davis Family would never let Grace and Connor go!
Penelope's fingertips dug into her flesh, and she finally pulled the blanket over Kelvin and got off the bed.
She had to endure.
The best way is to find the truth and clear Connor's name!
That night, Kelvin had the best sleep he'd had in years.
So when he woke up, he felt refreshed and in a much better mood, even his expression was gentler.
Penelope thought, 'This trick really worked. I'll thank Timothy for the idea!'
As soon as Penelope arrived at the company, her phone started blowing up, getting more than twenty messages.
Even Kelvin glanced at her. "Who's blowing up your phone?"
Penelope showed him the screen. "It was Fiona."
Fiona had sent over a dozen pictures of rings and a series of voice messages.
Fiona said, "See, I like this style. The crystal has to be big and pure. If there are pink crystals or other colors, even better! If there are no pink crystals, then the crystal should be surrounded by other colored gemstones. The shape should be heart-shaped. It must be unique; I want it to be one of a kind in the world!"
Penelope scrolled through the photos, muttering, "As expected, her taste is both tacky and extravagant."
While replying to Fiona, she asked Kelvin, "Are you sure you want to follow Fiona's preferences?"
Kelvin replied, "Whatever she wants."
"You're really good to her," Penelope pouted, "Did Fiona save your life or something? Are you repaying a debt of gratitude?"
Kelvin's cold gaze swept over her.
She shrugged. "Just kidding."
Kelvin emphasized, "You just need to know that you can never compare to her."
"Okay," Penelope responded and replied to Fiona with the same word.
Seeing that she had sent so many messages and Penelope only replied with "okay," Fiona was furious at home. "How dare she be so perfunctory with me! If the ring doesn't satisfy me, I'll definitely scold her to death!"
Michael comforted her, "Alright, alright, scold her all you want. Even if she designs it well, you should still find faults and give her a hard time."
"Of course," Fiona replied, "She's Mrs. Davis now, but she has to design my wedding ring. She won't have it easy!"
"These are minor issues. Fiona, the real problem is that she's pregnant," Michael emphasized, "That's the tricky part."
"Don't mention it, Dad. I almost succeeded in making her miscarry last time, but Mr. Davis arrived too quickly!" Talking about this made Fiona even angrier, and she threw all the cushions on the sofa to the floor.
That time, Penelope escaped, and Kelvin was mad at Fiona. She had to kneel and beg for forgiveness to settle the matter.
"Fiona, dealing with Penelope can't be too obvious," Michael suggested, "Especially with her pregnancy, which no one knows about. We need to make her lose the baby without anyone noticing!"
Fiona asked, "Dad, then what should we do?"
Michael's eyes darted around. "Let me think."
Fiona sat on the sofa, puffing her cheeks. "She is really something, getting pregnant on the first try. I wish I were that lucky."
Unfortunately, Kelvin wouldn't have had sex with her, so she had no chance of getting pregnant.
Michael clapped his hands. "Fiona, I have a plan."
He leaned in and whispered the entire plan into Fiona's ear.
"Great!" Fiona smiled, "We can definitely pull this off together!"
Michael laughed, "Alright, I'll get started right away!"
Far away at the Davis Group, Penelope suddenly sneezed several times in a row, feeling a chill.
"Got a cold?" Monica walked over and handed her a tissue. "Put on more clothes, take care of yourself."
"It's nothing, just an itchy nose," Penelope smiled and got up to go to the break room.
"Miss Cooper," A colleague called out to her, "Someone's here to see you at the company entrance."
Penelope asked, "To see me?"
The colleague nodded. "Yes, you should go check it out."
Who would have come to the Davis Group to see her?
Penelope agreed and went to the company entrance, where she saw Michael holding gifts in both hands, his face full of smiles.
Penelope was surprised. "It's you? What are you doing here?"
Michael had targeted her a lot when she was in the mental hospital and had sent her to the old man's bed. His daughter Fiona had also tried to harm her multiple times.
"I bought some things to give to you," Michael uttered, "Please keep it."
Penelope didn't take them and sneered, "Giving me gifts for no reason, you must be up to no good!"
Michael replied, "I'm sincerely trying to give you something to nourish your body. After all, you're pregnant!"
