Chapter 791 Who's Really in Charge in Our Family
Thinking back, Liam also felt that he had been too harsh on Penelope.
Penelope had never wronged the Davis family, never owed the Davis family anything.
It was the Davis family that owed her too much.
"From now on, treat her well," Liam said. "She has given too much and sacrificed too much for you. You should compensate her, and the Davis family should make it up to her as well."
Kelvin responded calmly, "Some things can't be made up for, but I'll do my best."
"That's true. But your relationship with Penelope will directly affect the two kids. Kelvin, do you understand?"
Liam had always been an observer of Kelvin and Penelope's relationship.
He had lived most of his life and could see very clearly how difficult and exhausting their love was.
"Grandpa, I will do my best, give her all my heart, and keep her by my side as my wife. I want her to stay willingly, to love me, not to be forced. In this life, I only love her."
Liam patted his shoulder, "Then, I'll wait for your good news."
Liam said, "Kelvin, I wish you all the best."
Kelvin slightly curled his lips, "I'm confident."
Liam laughed heartily, "Good."
After sending Liam off from the hospital, Kelvin returned to the ward.
Sam was asleep. Penelope had also fallen asleep by the bedside.
She was too tired last night and was tense. Now that she relaxed, she felt dizzy and sleepy.
Kelvin gently picked her up and placed her on the sofa, covering her with his suit jacket.
His eyes were full of tenderness only for her.
At this moment, Penelope's phone beeped with a message, and the screen lit up.
It was from Brandon: [Isabella's funeral is tomorrow morning.]
Kelvin withdrew his gaze, his eyes deepening.
Isabella was dead, but some things did not end with her death!
What he cared about was never Isabella's life or death.
It was the secrets involving Isabella!
Perhaps both he and Penelope should attend this funeral.
Not because Isabella deserved such respect, but because he needed to see Debra!
Kelvin set Penelope's phone to silent mode and placed it aside.
He sat down, opened his laptop, and started working right there in the ward.
When Penelope woke up, the first thing she saw was Kelvin's long fingers tapping on the keyboard.
His knuckles were distinct, and his nails were neatly trimmed.
Next to him was a stack of documents.
She quietly watched, still a bit groggy and not fully awake. "Kelvin."
"Awake?" His large hand reached over and ruffled her messy hair, "Hungry? It's time for lunch."
Penelope mumbled, "I just had the breakfast you brought me, and now it's lunch again. It feels like all I do is eat."
"You also have the very important task of taking care of Sam."
At the mention of Sam, Penelope quickly looked over at the bed.
Sam was sleeping soundly.
"He only behaves when he's asleep," Penelope said. "Did he say he was in pain?"
Kelvin shook his head, "He's been very quiet, sleeping even more peacefully than you."
She would occasionally turn over or scratch her head, but Sam was completely still.
With both Penelope and Sam being quiet, Kelvin's work efficiency was high.
Most importantly, he felt at ease, without any distractions.
If he had to go to the Davis Group office now, he probably wouldn't be able to focus on work.
"He's injured, so he can only move his legs a bit. Of course, he's quiet," Penelope replied. "But if he can sleep well, I can sleep well too."
"Are you staying up tonight?" he asked softly. "How about I take over, and you go home to be with Lucy?"
"No, you're too careless. I'll stay. I feel more at ease that way."
"Lucy needs you too."
"I'll take some time in the afternoon to pick her up from school," Penelope thought for a moment. "And I'll explain to her that Sam is hurt, so I don't have time to be with her for now."
Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "Didn't you say not to tell Lucy?"
"I'll just say Sam got hurt from being naughty. As for the kidnapping, we definitely can't tell Lucy."
She guessed that Sam also wanted to keep it from Lucy.
He acted like he wanted to compete for attention with Lucy, but he actually cared for her deeply.
"Okay," Kelvin nodded. "We'll do as you say."
Penelope smiled, "Mr. Davis, if you have any other opinions, feel free to share."
"No opinions, I'll completely follow Mrs. Davis's lead."
"Really?" she asked softly, sitting up and leaning closer to him. "Kelvin, who really calls the shots in our family?"
"You do."
"Are you sure?" Penelope didn't believe him. "You're a man who always gets his way."
Everyone always listened to Kelvin!
Kelvin never listened to anyone!
"Sure," Kelvin nodded. "I unconditionally follow your orders."
"You're the head of the family."
"I'm the nominal head; you're the actual head," he said, placing his laptop aside and pulling her onto his lap. "The one in charge is you, Penelope."
After all, the Davis Group shares were in her name, held by her.
She was said to be holding them for the children, but she could freely dispose of this vast wealth!
Even Kelvin didn't have as many shares as Penelope now!
Penelope leaned against him, smiling with her eyes curved, "You're flattering me now."
"Just telling the truth."
"I'm a very democratic person, not one for autocracy," Penelope said, pretending to be serious. "How about this, in our family, I'll make the decisions on small matters, and you decide on the big ones."
Kelvin agreed immediately, "Okay."
"You're too quick to agree."
Kelvin quickly applied what he had just learned, "You just said, small matters are your call. This is a small matter, so your word is final."
What woman didn't like to feel this cherished?
It felt like she could do whatever she wanted, and he would pamper her and let her have her way.
"In our family, ninety-nine percent of things are small matters," Penelope told him seriously. "Only one percent are big matters. Got it?"
Kelvin not only understood but also added, "In our family, whether something is a big matter or a small matter is up to you. If you say it's a small matter, then it's a small matter. If you say it's a big matter, then it's a big matter."
