Chapter 857 Being Your Son, Truly Happy!
"But what exactly are you and Mom busy with? You didn't come home last night, and this morning you were dragging your feet."
"Just some work stuff," Kelvin replied. "It's almost sorted out now, so no more overtime tonight."
Sam grinned at him. "Kelvin, does that mean you'll have more free time coming up?"
Maybe the chance to visit the spaceship is finally here!
Kelvin saw right through his thoughts.
"Not really," Kelvin answered vaguely. "Why? Got something in mind?"
"I... I..."
At this moment, Sam was stammering, too shy to speak directly.
"Hmm?"
Sam said, "If you're free this weekend, you could take me, Lucy, and Mom out for a family trip!"
"That's a good idea," Kelvin nodded. "We could plan a trip to the countryside or a beach vacation."
"No, no, those places are boring. We can go there anytime!"
"Oh? Then where do you want to go?"
Just as Sam was about to answer, Kelvin turned to Lucy. "Lucy, do you want to go to the beach? We could catch crabs, walk on the sand, watch the sunrise and sunset, eat seafood, and even take a yacht out for a spin."
"I'd love that!" Lucy replied. "I'm happy to go anywhere with you guys!"
"Alright, then it's settled..."
"No, no, it's not settled!" Sam was so anxious that he could barely speak clearly. "Wait, Kelvin, we can go to the beach on Saturday. But... but there's still Sunday!"
Seeing him like this, Kelvin worried he might choke, so he stopped teasing him.
"Looks like you already have a destination in mind, Sam. Where do you want to go?"
Sam's eyes sparkled. Finally, it was his turn to speak!
"Kelvin, can we go to the satellite launch base? I want to see a real spaceship and meet the astronauts!" he said excitedly. "But I know those places are strict; not everyone can get in."
"Mom said you have a way to get us in! Can you help me fulfill this little wish?"
Sam thought he had been pretty good in front of Kelvin these past few days.
Lucy even said he was like the king's chief servant!
Kelvin couldn't bear to refuse him!
He looked expectantly at Kelvin. "Can we? Can we? I just want to visit!"
Kelvin leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the table.
"Just a visit?" he asked.
"Yes, yes! I won't ask for anything else!"
Kelvin suddenly sighed. "It's a pity. I was thinking of arranging for you to experience the cockpit. But if you just want to visit..."
"What? I can go to the cockpit?" Sam's voice was almost loud enough to break the ceiling. "I'll go! I want to go! I really, really, super-duper want to go!"
Lucy looked at him, puzzled.
"Sam, do you really need to be this excited?"
"You girls don't understand!"
Lucy thought for a moment and looked at Kelvin. "Dad, since Sam wants to go so badly, let's go there. I'm fine with it. We can go to the beach next time."
Though she teased Sam, Lucy was still considerate of him.
With Lucy's support, Sam felt confident this time!
"Yeah, yeah, Kelvin, look, Lucy wants to go too," Sam said. "So let's go this weekend, okay?"
His eyes were full of anticipation.
It seemed like if Kelvin said yes, he would jump up and touch the ceiling.
On the contrary, if Kelvin said no, he might faint on the spot.
"Kelvin," Sam walked over to him, "everyone says being your son is the best, you get whatever you want. I haven't felt that happiness yet. Do you want to prove it with actions?"
"Look at me these days, I've been good, obedient, studying hard, doing homework with Lucy, not causing trouble for you and Mom, not asking about your schedules, not being a third wheel!"
"If you fulfill this wish, I'll be even more obedient!"
Kelvin nodded. "Alright."
Sam's eyes widened in disbelief. "Alright? Alright? You agreed?"
"Yes, fulfilling this wish isn't difficult for me."
The Davis Group had sponsored aerospace projects, so arranging for Sam to visit the launch base was easy.
Just needed to communicate in advance.
"Yay!" Sam hugged him excitedly. "Kelvin is the best! Kelvin is the best!"
If Kelvin weren't a man, Sam might have kissed him!
"Being your son is truly the best! Yay!"
Kelvin's lips curled into a slight smile, quickly smoothing out, barely noticeable.
Fulfilling his family's wishes gave him a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
Sam was excited, and Kelvin was happy too.
"Being my child means you get whatever you want," Kelvin said, glancing at the restaurant entrance.
Penelope hadn't arrived yet.
Perfect.
He had something to ask the kids!
"Sam, Lucy," Kelvin's voice lowered, "do you want someone else to experience the happiness of being my child?"
Lucy: "Someone else?"
Sam: "Do you want to?"
"Yes."
"Dad," Lucy looked at him, "are you planning to give Sam and me a new sibling?"
Kelvin replied, "No plans for that yet, just asking for your opinions."
"Then you should ask Mom's opinion," Lucy said. "Because Mom would be the one carrying the baby, it's hardest for her. She has the right to decide; none of us can do that for her."
"If Mom wants to have a baby, would you want to be a big sister?"
"Yes!" Lucy smiled sweetly, showing her dimples. "As a big sister, I can take care of them! Just like Sam takes care of me, I'll take care of the baby!"
Kelvin looked at Sam. "What about you?"
Sam looked at him seriously. "Kelvin, why do you want to start a new game?"
"Start a new game?"
What did that mean?
Kelvin didn't understand.
"Yeah," Sam replied. "Lucy and I are your main characters, right? You and Mom didn't mess us up, did you? We're excellent and smart, right? Why do you want to have another child and get started all over again? Are we not good enough?"
He was a piano prodigy, had an amazing memory, and learned things quickly.
Lucy was also incredibly smart, always top of her class, sensible, and intelligent.
