Chapter 1004 You Are Particularly Unusual Today

"No problem, I'm outta here!" Timothy slapped the armrest of his chair. "I'm not sticking around to listen to your nonsense!"

He stood up, giving Kelvin a few more scrutinizing glances. "Are you sure... you're okay?"

"Do you really want me to be unwell?"

"Not at all. It's just that you seem really off today."

Kelvin took a sip of his coffee. "Would you think I'm normal if I sent you to Crystal City?"

Timothy immediately bolted for the door.

What a joke, he had no intention of going back to Crystal City!

That place was somewhere he vowed never to return to!

The CEO's office fell silent once more.

Kelvin sat motionless in his chair, as if he were frozen in place.

Truth be told... he didn't know what he was doing either.

He was indeed not quite himself.

Ever since he returned from the hospital, Kelvin had been plagued by a strong sense of unease, as if something bad was about to happen.

Maybe it was the constant coughing up blood that was making him anxious!

Kelvin called in his lawyer and transferred all his shares to Penelope, ensuring her supreme and unique position in the Davis Group. This way, if one day... he suddenly wasn't around, she would have the authority to control the entire Davis Group.

He also brought in Timothy, thinking that if Penelope faced the vast empire of the business group and didn't know what to do, Timothy could advise her, acting as her strategist!

He trusted Timothy!

Timothy wouldn't seize power or have ulterior motives; he would wholeheartedly protect Penelope and the interests of the Davis Group!

For now... these were the only arrangements Kelvin could think of.

He still had time; he could slowly and quietly make more plans.

If he was overthinking and his health was fine, just needing medication and rest, then he could pretend nothing had happened.

But if he really... was diagnosed with something serious, he had already prepared a fallback.

"Hopefully, I'm just overthinking," Kelvin muttered to himself.

He had so much now, he was so happy, that he couldn't accept the possibility of losing it all someday.

It was not that he didn't cherish what he had.

It was that having it made him cherish it even more!

---

Evening.

The King Manor.

After dinner, Sam put down his bowl. "I'm full, you guys carry on!"

He then jumped off his chair and dashed out of the room.

Seeing this, Lucy, who had just taken a bite of her food, pushed her plate away. "I'm full too!"

She quickly chased after Sam.

Both of them ran as fast as they could, afraid of falling behind, using their fastest speed ever!

Kelvin and Penelope exchanged puzzled looks.

"What are they... up to?" Penelope asked.

Kelvin shook his head, indicating he didn't understand.

At that moment, the butler spoke up. "They must be racing for the TV."

"Racing for the TV?"

"Yes," the butler replied. "They each have shows they want to watch. Whoever gets the remote first gets to watch their favorite show."

Penelope still didn't get it. "Sam and Lucy rarely argue over the TV. Sam is mischievous but always lets Lucy have her way. He never fights over it."

"Mrs. Davis, this all started with Ms. Winterbourne."

Kelvin and Penelope spoke in unison. "Thessaly?"

Just then, the sounds of Sam and Lucy arguing came from the living room—

"I got the remote first!"

"No way, I got it first! You snatched it!"

"The remote's in my hand!"

"I'm holding the remote too!"

"Rock-paper-scissors?"

"No way, you'll cheat!"

By the TV, Sam held the front of the remote while Lucy gripped the back.

Neither was willing to let go.

"I want to watch Thessaly's period drama," Lucy said. "She looks like a real angel in those beautiful clothes and accessories, with her flowing dress!"

Sam countered, "Modern dramas are better, more like the real Thessaly, as if she's right here with us!"

"I don't care, I want the period drama!"

"No way, modern dramas are better!"

Neither would give in.

Penelope watched the scene, shaking her head and sighing.

What a headache.

What should she do?

Who should she side with?

Siding with either wouldn't be right!

Penelope walked over, her face stern. "Stop arguing, neither of you gets to watch. Hand over the remote."

Sam and Lucy didn't let go.

"What? Are you pretending not to hear me?"

Sam replied, "If Lucy lets go, I'll let go."

"You let go first."

"If I let go, she'll snatch the remote!"

Penelope extended her hand. "Alright, I'll count to three, and you both let go at the same time!"

"Mommy," Lucy started to plead, "you're the best. Just let me watch one episode, just one... We can watch together. You want to see Thessaly's show too, right?"

Kelvin was wavering.

How could he possibly withstand Lucy's pleading?

But Penelope remained firm. "No, Lucy. If Sam can't watch, neither can you. Fair treatment, no special favors."

Penelope always treated them equally.

Though Lucy was a girl and deserved to be pampered, she didn't want to be too biased, fearing Sam might feel left out.

Lucy turned to Kelvin. "Daddy..."

Penelope shot Kelvin a warning look.

'Stay strong, don't give in to Lucy's pleading!'

"Alright," Penelope said, "three, two, one!"

She swiftly grabbed the remote.

Sam crossed his arms behind his back, looking mature. "We can't just not watch TV... How about, Mom, you pick a show, and we'll watch that?"

Lucy agreed. "Yeah, Mommy, what do you want to watch?"

Penelope smiled slightly. "I don't want to watch anything. Have you both finished your homework?"

They nodded in unison.

"Have you completed your art class projects?"

Again, they nodded in unison.

"Have you done the extra assignments your teacher gave?"

Still, they nodded in unison.

Penelope was silent.

Well, it seemed she had no reason to stop them from watching TV.

Both kids excelled academically, never giving her any trouble.

"Mommy, Sam and I just want to watch Thessaly," Lucy said. "We won't argue anymore. Any show with Thessaly is fine! Right, Sam?"

She quickly asked Sam.

"Right, right, we won't fight over the remote," Sam immediately understood her. "Any show, modern or period, as long as Thessaly's in it!"

These two were really good at adapting to the situation.
