Chapter 855 Dreamed of Being Pregnant

"I'd love to do something with you, but I'm not here to play games," Timothy said, looking at her intently. "I want something real, something that lasts. I'm not gonna mess around."

He wasn't after a fleeting moment of pleasure.

He wanted a lifetime of stability!

Monica, whether she heard him or not, lowered her head and got into the car, obediently fastening her seatbelt.

The night was hazy.

Timothy's heart felt like it was about to melt.

The King Manor.

It was already the early hours of the morning.

Penelope had just finished her shower and climbed into bed, moving carefully, trying not to make any noticeable movements, hoping to minimize her presence.

She was terrified of drawing Kelvin's attention!

She turned her back to him and had just closed her eyes when she heard Kelvin ask, "Are you asleep?"

"Yeah! Goodnight!"

Kelvin spoke calmly, "Sobered up yet?"

"I..." Penelope mumbled, "I only had a little bit to drink. How could I not be sober? You're overthinking it."

"Really? Then why are you sleeping so far away? Come closer."

Penelope reluctantly inched closer to him.

"Closer."

She moved a bit more.

"Even closer."

Penelope stopped moving. "I'm already pretty close. Any closer and I'd be sleeping on top of you."

"How did you know I wanted you to sleep on top of me?"

"Since you know," Kelvin said, "then go ahead."

Penelope quickly scooted to the edge of the bed.

Who wants to sleep on top of him?

But as soon as she moved, Kelvin's hands reached over, lifting her up and placing her on his chest.

Penelope lay there, listening to his steady, strong heartbeat.

"Can I get a good night's sleep tonight?" she asked pitifully. "I'm not feeling too well."

"Not feeling well? Is it that time of the month?"

"I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't had barbecue in a while. It was too spicy, and I ate too much, so my stomach is a bit upset."

Kelvin frowned slightly. "You knew that and still ate? And drank?"

"I thought it would be fine. I've been eating at that place for years..." She pouted. "Maybe I'm just getting old. My stomach can't handle it anymore."

Kelvin suddenly remembered that she hadn't eaten much in the morning either.

This can't go on.

"Let's go to the hospital tomorrow," Kelvin said. "I'll go with you."

"What? Why the hospital?"

"To get a gastroscopy."

Penelope almost jumped up. "I'm just a little uncomfortable. I don't need a gastroscopy, right?"

Gastroscopies are so painful!

It's a nightmare! Torture!

She didn't want that!

"Getting checked out won't hurt." Kelvin looked at her. "Your eating habits have been irregular lately. Is there anywhere else you feel unwell?"

Penelope shook her head vigorously. "No, I'm fine. Eating well! Feeling great!"

She thought saying this would reassure Kelvin.

But instead...

It made him even more suspicious!

"Let's schedule a full physical exam," Kelvin thought. "That would be more thorough."

"What? I already had a physical this year..."

"Having more than one is fine."

Penelope asked, "Got money to burn?"

"You could say that," Kelvin replied calmly. "Spending money on you is always worth it."

She lifted her head, her chin resting on his chest. "I know my body. I'm really fine. You're making a big deal out of nothing."

Kelvin stroked her hair gently. "Why are you acting like a kid? Even Lucy isn't this scared of the hospital."

"I've been to the hospital too many times in recent years," Penelope replied. "It's given me a bit of a psychological shadow."

She nuzzled his chest. "I didn't have time for physicals during those four years in that small town, and I was fine. How come back in LA, back with you, I suddenly become so precious?"

"You've always been precious."

Penelope closed her eyes and yawned. "Let's wait and see. If my stomach still feels off, I'll go to the hospital myself without you having to say anything."

Her voice grew softer, turning into a nasal murmur.

She was tired.

After a long day, at this hour, all she wanted was a good night's sleep.

Kelvin's large hand continued to stroke her hair.

"Kelvin..."

"Yeah?"

"I want to sleep..."

"Okay. Sleep."

Penelope mumbled, "Then you, you..."

Before she could finish, she was too exhausted and drifted off to sleep.

She was truly tired.

Kelvin knew what she wanted to say.

How could he bear to tire her out further?

Even though he wished he could have her every night, he couldn't be too greedy. She needed time to breathe!

"Sleep well, goodnight."

Kelvin gently turned over, placing her beside him, his hand resting on her waist.

That night, Penelope had a dream.

She dreamt she was pregnant.

She was sitting in front of the doctor, who announced it to her.

When she heard it, Penelope was stunned. "Pregnant again?"

"Yes, Mrs. Davis," the doctor said. "You have two children already, right?"

"Yes."

"Are you considering a third?"

Penelope was conflicted.

Children are angels sent by God, and she did want them.

But the ordeal of pregnancy and the pain of childbirth, she had experienced it all firsthand, and she was terrified of going through it again.

Two kids were enough, but having another one would be nice too.

What to do?

Keep it or not?

"I'll discuss it with my husband at home," Penelope said. "Thank you, doctor."

Penelope grabbed the pregnancy test results and hurriedly left the doctor's office.

But as she was going down the stairs, whether from being too flustered or not watching her step, she slipped—

She saw the ground rushing up to meet her!

"Ah!"

Penelope screamed and jolted awake.

She was still panting, staring at the ceiling, blinking, and it took her a moment to realize she was in the master bedroom at The King Manor.

So, it was all a dream!

She hadn't fallen, and she wasn't pregnant!

"Penelope?" Kelvin quickly came out of the bathroom, looking worried. "What happened?"

He was scared out of his wits by her scream!

Penelope shook her head. "Nothing, just a dream."

She was going to say it was a nightmare, but then she thought, dreaming of being pregnant was a good thing, not a nightmare.

"Another dream." Kelvin asked, "What did you dream about?"

She paused for a few seconds. "I dreamt I fell down the stairs. It scared me. Just as I was about to tumble down, I woke up."

Penelope said, sitting up.
