Chapter 831 Without My Permission, Kelvin Can't Sign You
Jessamine decided it was time to put this secretary in her place and show her who was boss.
She strutted up to Penelope and asked with a smirk, "Do you even know who I am?"
"Yeah, Jessamine," Penelope replied, barely looking up. "I've seen your shows. They're pretty awful. Your acting is a joke, and your line delivery is painful. You've been roasted online so many times. You must have thick skin to handle it. If it were me, I'd have quit and taken some acting classes."
"My acting is none of your business. I'm here at Davis Group because Mr. Davis invited me to sign a contract! I'm gonna be the next face of Adoring Cupid! I'm a VIP!"
"Oh, really? You sure you can land that contract?"
Jessamine nodded confidently. "Absolutely!"
She was at the peak of her career, backed by the top talent agency in the industry, with plenty of resources and connections.
She had already met Kelvin, so the endorsement deal was practically in the bag!
"Too bad. If I don't approve, Kelvin can't sign you," Penelope said, giving her a once-over. "With your vibe, you don't fit Adoring Cupid. But since you're here, I won't let you leave empty-handed."
"What do you mean? You have the authority?"
"Of course I do," Penelope said. "Ask Kelvin if you don't believe me."
She shrugged.
Before Jessamine could turn to Kelvin, he spoke up, "Yes, she has the final say."
Jessamine was stunned.
Who was this woman?
She could decide whether Jessamine got the endorsement or not!
It seemed she needed to reassess this "secretary."
Jessamine wondered if this woman was actually Mr. Davis's mistress, which would explain why Kelvin was so indulgent and supportive of her.
If that was the case, Jessamine thought she understood.
So, she was just a hidden mistress. What was there to flaunt?
Once Jessamine became the spokesperson and spent more time with Kelvin, she was confident she could win him over and replace this secretary!
She was a glamorous star, beautiful and sexy. How could she not outshine this plain-looking woman?
Penelope was also sizing up Jessamine.
"Based on my impression of you, if you really want an endorsement, I could offer you 'Silk Haven,'" Penelope said. "Consider it a trial. Your price isn't high, so I wouldn't lose much."
"Silk Haven? I think I've heard of it," Jessamine said.
"Yeah, it's an affordable jewelry brand with an average price of around five hundred dollars, targeting students and young professionals."
Jessamine scoffed. "Only five hundred dollars? That's not jewelry; it's glass, it's toys! With my taste and status, endorsing Silk Haven? No way!"
She wouldn't even consider something with an average price of five thousand dollars, let alone five hundred!
Her goal was to be the global ambassador for Adoring Cupid!
Adoring Cupid was a high-end jewelry brand with a VIP clientele worth billions!
That matched her status!
"Oh," Penelope said. "You think you're too good for it?"
"Of course," Jessamine said proudly.
"I wasn't too keen on giving it to you anyway."
Though Silk Haven was a small, unremarkable brand, Penelope had a lot of affection for it.
It had been her job for four years.
It was through Silk Haven's designs that she earned enough to support Sam and Lucy.
She had wanted to give Jessamine a chance, thinking she couldn't let her leave empty-handed.
But Jessamine didn't want it!
"Being a star means I have commercial value," Jessamine said. "I won't endorse just any trash brand."
"Fine," Penelope nodded. "Then there's the door. Don't let it hit you on the way out."
Jessamine's eyes widened. "Are you kicking me out?"
"Yeah, you just figured that out?"
"Who do you think you are?" Jessamine said. "Do you even know who I am?"
"I know, you're a star. So what?" Penelope looked at her. "I'll ask you again, are you leaving or not?"
"You don't have the authority! Only Mr. Davis can make me leave!"
Penelope laughed.
She had never seen someone so shameless!
"Fine!" Penelope looked at Kelvin. "Say something."
Kelvin, expressionless, repeated like a robot, "The door is over there. Don't let it hit you on the way out."
Jessamine was dumbfounded.
Before this woman showed up, Kelvin had been polite and charming, quickly winning her over.
A man like him, at the top of his game, was irresistible to any woman.
But as soon as this woman appeared, Kelvin's attitude towards her plummeted!
"Mr. Davis..."
"The endorsement is off the table. I won't consider working with you," Kelvin said. "You don't fit Adoring Cupid's brand. Plus, you didn't pass her approval."
Jessamine pointed at Penelope. "Her?"
"Yes."
"Who is she?" Jessamine asked. "Mr. Davis, you're the CEO. Why are you listening to her?"
Jessamine started to pout.
"You invited me here. Why the sudden change of heart? Did I do something wrong?"
She knew she was attractive and understood her strengths. When she used this tactic on men, they usually couldn't resist!
Unfortunately, she underestimated Kelvin.
He had seen it all.
He only had eyes for Penelope!
"Get out!" Kelvin's face turned cold. "You have one minute! If you don't leave, I'll call security!"
What a joke. If Jessamine kept this up, Penelope would get mad!
The current situation was hard enough with Penelope trying to appease him. He didn't want to reverse it and end up having to appease Penelope!
Kelvin's strong presence was too much for Jessamine.
She shivered, accidentally knocking a glass off the table.
"Crash!"
The glass shattered into pieces.
Outside the door, Ryan heard the noise, and his expression changed.
No way.
Something happened?
What was going on inside? A fight? What?
When Penelope went in, he thought everything was fine. Kelvin wouldn't get intimate with Jessamine, and Penelope wouldn't misunderstand so easily.
After all, Kelvin and Jessamine were just discussing business!
Without thinking, Ryan rushed in. "Mr. Davis!"
He expected to see Penelope and Jessamine pulling each other's hair, fighting, with Kelvin unsure who to help.
Instead...
Kelvin and Penelope were looking at him, while Jessamine stared at the broken glass.
