Chapter 1070 Give Me a Chance, Thessaly
"Is there something you need to say to me alone?" Thessaly asked. "I thought we had nothing left to discuss. And you wouldn't come to me to plead for Paul."
Brandon replied, "Why can't I be pleading for myself?"
"For yourself?"
"Yeah," Brandon said. "Penelope and I have settled our differences. We're done, and we'll be strangers from now on. This means there's no chance for us anymore, but she won't be targeting me either. But you... you're different. You still want to cause trouble."
Thessaly drew out her words, "I see, you're worried your movie won't start filming smoothly."
"Smart people know when to stop, Thessaly. Don't go crazy."
She laughed, "Are you afraid of a crazy person like me?"
"Afraid?" Brandon lifted her chin. "I've never been afraid of anyone. What I feared the most has already happened."
Thessaly quickly guessed, "You're most afraid of losing Penelope, and now you've completely lost her, right?"
Brandon just smiled, "You know me well."
"After all, I am your ex-girlfriend."
"Too bad..."
A flash of triumph appeared in Brandon's eyes.
Thessaly had only guessed half of it, missing the other half!
That fleeting triumph... Thessaly caught it!
"Too bad what?" she asked warily. "Brandon, you aren't planning something else, are you? I knew you wouldn't hand over the photos so easily. Are you..."
"Am I what?" Brandon interrupted, spreading his hands. "What have I done?"
Thessaly fell silent, just staring at him.
With her intuition and judgment... Brandon definitely had more tricks up his sleeve! Definitely!
A strong sense of unease rose within her!
She worried for Penelope!
"Brandon, stop this madness. Let it go, enough is enough!" Thessaly said. "The way things ended between you and Penelope is actually the best outcome!"
"I've completely lost her. We can't even be friends. We'll be strangers if we meet again... and you call this a good outcome?"
Brandon's face was full of sarcasm!
"Do you want Penelope to hate you, Kelvin to come after you, and Sam and Lucy to despise you?" Thessaly asked. "Do you want everyone who once admired, liked, and respected you to loathe you?"
Brandon answered, "People only despise failures. No one despises a winner!"
And he would succeed!
He had come this far; he wouldn't back down now, and he couldn't!
Victory or defeat!
Living a miserable life in LA?
That wasn't what Brandon wanted!
He now fully understood why Isabella had been so stubborn, unwilling to compromise, preferring to die rather than sincerely repent.
Because if you could not get what you want, living had no meaning!
Yes, he and Isabella were indeed alike, so even if he didn't love her, he could live with her for so long, want to save her, and feel heartbroken over her death!
"You've already failed. Do you want more people to hate you? Brandon, I implore you..."
"Enough!" he interrupted impatiently. "Thessaly, my business is none of your concern. Take care of yourself first! Do you still want your career, a normal life?"
"What do you want, Brandon?"
Brandon leaned forward, gripping her chin. "You want me to stop? Fine, I've already stopped. I handed over the photos to you. So, Thessaly, you stop too! No more trouble!"
"You clearly have more plans!"
"Do I? Where? Did you see them?"
"I..." Thessaly couldn't answer.
She didn't know, but her intuition told her this wasn't over.
Brandon would find a way to break up Kelvin and Penelope; he definitely would!
After a brief silence, Brandon's voice softened.
"I really want this to end," he said. "Otherwise, I could keep pushing, threatening you. But I didn't. I gave you my leverage to destroy... Thessaly, what more can I do? What do you want me to do?"
Brandon's voice grew quieter.
His chin slowly rested on her shoulder.
Thessaly stiffened.
She wanted to push him away, but Brandon held her wrist.
He didn't grip tightly, just loosely, like a desperate man clinging to a lifeline.
This made Thessaly unable to resist... after all, this was the man she loved and hated!
"Thessaly, sparing Paul means sparing me. Holding him accountable is like sending half of me to prison. Would seeing me lose everything satisfy you?"
"Do you want the man you love to become a loser, a prisoner?"
"You know how much was invested in this movie. If it stops, all the money I put in will be wasted, and I won't be able to invest in the film industry again."
"You say you love me. If you ever loved me even a little, can you please understand me?"
"Give me a chance, Thessaly, Thessaly..."
Brandon called her name with deep emotion, whispering in her ear.
He knew women too well, knew exactly what they wanted to hear.
Playing the emotional card was the best way to move Thessaly!
Women were soft-hearted, emotional creatures!
Especially in the quiet, dimly lit parking garage, with the two of them so close, their breaths mingling...
Perfect!
Brandon knew he couldn't be forceful with Thessaly, only gentle!
Thessaly closed her eyes.
She knew his tricks, his thoughts... she knew them all too well.
"Brandon, oh Brandon..." Thessaly murmured. "I hate you, I really hate you. You turned me from a proud woman into someone so insecure!"
"Is saying sorry any use?"
"No!"
Brandon was silent for a few seconds. "You still want to destroy me? Can't we resolve this peacefully? Penelope and I have made peace. This matter is over. She and Kelvin won't hold it against me anymore."
Thessaly took a deep breath, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Noticing her reaction, Brandon hugged her.
"If... if it weren't for Penelope, Thessaly, I would choose you," Brandon said. "You're really great, I like you a lot. It's just a shame you came too late, there's no chance for us."
"You'll say anything to achieve your goal, won't you?"
"No, Thessaly, I'm sincere, I..."
