Chapter 943 The Asteroid That Belongs to Us
"Let's get outta here," Penelope said, taking a deep breath to steady herself, trying to look calm and collected. "Let's leave them be and not interrupt."
"Yeah, sure."
Kelvin glanced at the two figures hugging, a satisfied look in his eyes.
Finally, Timothy and Monica were together.
Whether it would last and whether they could make it work was up to fate and their own determination.
After all these years, now that they were together, they should really appreciate each other.
Kelvin wrapped an arm around Penelope's shoulder as they left the rooftop, gently fixing her wind-tousled hair.
Maybe it was the deep bond of friendship, or just a gut feeling, but Monica turned to look back.
She caught sight of the elevator doors slowly closing.
Penelope saw her too, waved, and mouthed something.
Too far away to hear, Monica read the words from Penelope's lips: "Wishing you happiness forever."
Monica nodded slightly.
"Kelvin and Penelope took off," she said. "Timothy, how'd you get Penelope to help you out?"
"Get her to help? She offered."
"She really wants me to be with you, doesn't she?"
Timothy replied, "Monica, she just wants you to be happy."
Monica turned her gaze back to him, looking into his eyes. "Will I be happy?"
"You will."
Their lips met again, melting into another kiss.
For those in love, there was never enough kissing.
Whether Penelope hid it well or Monica was too caught up in the joy of love, Monica didn't notice anything unusual between Kelvin and Penelope.
The car cruised down the road.
Penelope sat quietly in the passenger seat, even as Kelvin kept one hand free to hold hers, warming it, yet feeling like he couldn't quite hold onto her.
Kelvin tried to start a conversation. "Penelope, the other day, when you and Timothy were being all secretive, was it about this?"
"Yeah."
"Did you come up with the idea for Timothy, or was it his own?"
"A bit of both," Penelope smiled. "I told him that women love grand gestures, unique experiences, and the feeling of being publicly adored. He just needed to make it happen, and Monica would definitely love it."
Kelvin squeezed her hand. "So, you like it too."
"I've moved past that phase," Penelope said. "I prefer a stable, simple life now."
Then, her expression shifted, and a touch of sadness showed up, though she didn't elaborate.
"I get it," Kelvin replied. "Grand romance, and a stable life, Penelope, you'll have it all."
She turned to look at him, her eyes bright in the dim car interior.
All these years, Penelope's eyes remained clear and bright, unchanged.
No matter what happened or what she went through, she was still herself, the same person Kelvin first met.
No amount of worldly dust could tarnish her.
"Will I really have it all?" Penelope murmured. "When... will it happen?"
"Soon."
Kelvin pressed the gas pedal, speeding up.
Back at The King Manor, as soon as Penelope stepped out of the car, Kelvin suddenly grabbed her hand and started running.
She didn't know why, but she instinctively followed him.
The wind roared in their ears.
"Kelvin..." Penelope asked, "Where are you taking me?"
"Just trust me, keep up."
He wasn't running fast, but with his long strides, Penelope had to jog to keep up.
In her mind, Kelvin was always steady, mature, and serious. No matter how urgent, he would walk quickly at most, rarely run.
What was going on today?
Was there something urgent?
All Penelope could hear was the wind and her own heartbeat.
She looked at Kelvin's profile, then at his hand, which was tightly holding hers, with their fingers interlocked.
Even if they kept running like this, never stopping, Penelope was willing to continue.
To the ends of the earth, she would follow him!
"Penelope," he said, slightly breathless, "Do you want to keep running with me, without a destination?"
Penelope nodded quickly and decisively. "I do."
He smiled slightly, his lips curving.
At that moment, Kelvin seemed almost boyish!
He led Penelope upstairs, and the butler and staff, witnessing the scene, were puzzled but didn't question or stop them.
Through the hallway and up the stairs, Kelvin finally brought Penelope to the attic of The King Manor.
This small attic was made of glass, transparent all around, with a view of the starry sky above and the surrounding scenery.
"When did we get such a nice place at home?" Penelope asked. "How did I not know?"
The King Manor was large, with over a hundred rooms, and she couldn't have visited every single one, but... she was the lady of the house, in and out all the time, yet only discovered it today!
Penelope curiously looked around, examining the furnishings in the glass room.
Kelvin replied, "It was just built."
"Just built?" Penelope turned to him. "Why build a glass room?"
"For observing 'Kelvin & Penelope Star.'"
She paused, her eyes sparkling, more beautiful than the starry sky above!
In the corner of the glass room, a piece of equipment was covered with a burgundy velvet cloth, and Penelope didn't know what it was.
Kelvin led her over, lifted the cloth, revealing a brand-new, high-tech telescope!
The telescope was fixed in position, its lens aimed at the sky.
"I've had it all set up," Kelvin said. "You just need to look through the lens to see our little asteroid."
The surprise was overwhelming.
While she was unaware, he had prepared everything, ready to present this gift to her!
Penelope's heart raced, her hand over her chest, feeling her heartbeat.
Kelvin's romantic gesture was truly sophisticated and unique!
"I thought..." Penelope said, "It would take some time, not so easy, not so fast. I didn't expect you to have it all done."
"A gift for you, I won't make it slow."
From the moment Kelvin mentioned "Kelvin & Penelope Star," he had been planning how to make it happen.
As long as she liked it and was happy, it was all worth it.
"Come, Penelope," he said, "Let's look at our star together."
In the glass room, Kelvin and Penelope sat quietly in front of the telescope.
