Chapter 954 I'm Fine, I've Already Moved On
Thessaly had just snagged the lead role in Paul's award-winning film, earning him the title of Best Young Director.
The other actresses were shooting daggers at Thessaly, green with envy, wondering how she got so lucky. How did she catch Kelvin's eye, the guy who pulled her out of her agency and gave her the freedom to call the shots?
But the truth? No one knew the heartache Thessaly carried inside.
All they saw was her glamorous facade!
In reality, Thessaly had been holed up at home, turning down all commercial gigs, quietly healing on her own.
Today was her first day out, and she needed to shoot the poster for Adoring Cupid.
In the studio.
Thessaly stood under the spotlight, decked out in the latest high-end jewelry from Adoring Cupid, striking poses for the camera.
"Turn your head a bit… yeah, just like that.'
"Give us a smile.'
"Play with your hair a little, make sure the ring on your hand pops.'
Thessaly was all in.
Penelope watched from the monitor, seeing Thessaly on the screen—confident, beautiful, poised, and oozing charm.
Perfect, this was exactly the vibe she needed, perfectly in line with Adoring Cupid's brand philosophy: every woman should be beautiful, elegant, confident, and proud!
During the break, Thessaly walked over. "Hey, Penelope.'
"You're killing it,' Penelope said. "It's been a while, but you're looking great, and the photos are turning out awesome. If we keep this up, we'll wrap up soon.'
She had thought… Thessaly would be worn out, downcast.
But she had worried for nothing.
Thessaly was still the same Thessaly she had first met!
"I've been cooped up at home for too long, it's time to bounce back,' Thessaly smiled. "I can't stay stuck in the past forever, right? Penelope, don't you agree?'
"Absolutely, we gotta look forward, not back.'
"Don't worry, I'm good now. The toughest days are behind me. From now on, I'm all in with my work. Besides Adoring Cupid, the movie prep is kicking off too.'
Penelope still had some concerns. "After all this time, you're still set on doing this movie?'
"Yeah. The script's out, I've read it, and I love it. I really want to play this role,' Thessaly's face and eyes lit up with passion for her career. "If all goes well, this movie's gonna snag awards. And not just any awards, international ones.'
Though… Paul was a total jerk, but his talent and track record were undeniable.
This movie was bound to shine.
Whether it would make money was uncertain, the market was unpredictable, but its artistic value was clear to everyone.
If she won an international award, Thessaly would be at the top of the entertainment world!
"Alright,' Penelope agreed. "I'm behind you all the way. If you hit any snags, come to me anytime, I'll help you sort it out.'
Thessaly forced a smile. "What could go wrong? Brandon is the biggest investor, and everyone on set knows I'm tight with him; they won't mess with me. As for Paul…'
She closed her eyes.
Just hearing his name still brought pain and hatred!
Paul had wrecked her body and violated her! Even if she tore him to pieces, it wouldn't ease her anger!
But what's done is done, and there's no turning back. She couldn't do anything to Paul right now.
So, she'd focus on her acting, use Paul's connections to snag the lead role, show off her talent, and aim for awards to boost her career!
"Paul will get what's coming to him," Thessaly muttered through clenched teeth. "I can't do anything to him now, I need to protect my career!"
Her career was everything to her, her lifeline, her drive to face life and rebuild herself.
Penelope hugged her, whispering, "Kelvin's still digging into what happened that night. Thessaly, we need to wait. Don't sell yourself short. We did nothing wrong, we're innocent victims, and we need to live well, even better than before."
"I'm counting on Mr. Davis to uncover the truth."
"Good!"
Thessaly patted her back. "I'm okay, I've moved on. My biggest wish now is to find the person behind all this and make them pay. Nothing else matters to me, nothing can shake me."
"Thessaly, I feel the same way."
"Alright, enough talking." Thessaly glanced at the time. "Break's over, I gotta get back to shooting. After this, I have to head to The Walker Corporation."
Penelope asked, "Meeting with Brandon?"
"Yeah, Paul, the two assistant directors, and the producer are all having a meeting. I can't miss it."
Every movie had tons of meetings before shooting kicked off.
Thessaly was all in on this film, attending every meeting she could.
"Brandon..." Penelope murmured, but didn't continue.
Lately, she'd been trying not to think about him, but whenever she did, it left a bitter taste.
Brandon had said he was leaving LA.
But his company and all his investments were here; how could he just leave?
Could it be, as Kelvin suggested, that Brandon was all talk?
No, Brandon wasn't like that.
But Penelope couldn't ask him to stay, nor could she push him away!
Thessaly understood her feelings and didn't press further.
"Say hi to Brandon for me," Penelope smiled lightly, her tone casual. "Come on, let's make the most of your good mood and shoot a few more. We'll pick the best, most elegant one for the giant poster on the mall's exterior!"
An hour later, the shoot wrapped up smoothly.
Penelope watched Thessaly get into her car, then prepared to head home herself.
In the car.
Thessaly closed her eyes, resting against the seat, exhaustion written all over her face.
She'd been putting on a brave face for Penelope, but now she could finally relax.
She was so tired, her mind was numb, unable to think.
Despite resting at home for days, she hadn't had a single good night's sleep, waking up from nightmares every night.
And the nightmare… was Paul attacking her, tearing her clothes.
When she woke, her face would be wet with tears.
Thessaly didn't know when she'd fully recover, maybe she never would, from the trauma Paul inflicted that night!
"Thessaly, we're here," her assistant reminded her.
Thessaly opened her eyes, looking out the window, confused. "Why are we here?"
This was The Walker Corporation!
She wanted to go home!
Her assistant was also puzzled. "Thessaly, didn't you say you had a meeting at The Walker Corporation?"
