Chapter 1069 I Knew You Would Come

Facing Brandon's questioning, Penelope sighed, "Love's never been a test, and it sure ain't fair."

The person who gets loved always gets more favoritism!

There was no fairness in it!

Yeah, she loved Kelvin, only him. No one could replace him or become him.

If you asked her why, what she loved about Kelvin... Penelope couldn't really answer.

Maybe love was even more unreasonable.

It was this person, and that was it. She would not change, would not fall for anyone else. Her heart and eyes were filled with him.

A soft sound came from the study door opening.

Thessaly walked out.

Her face was pale, her knuckles gripping the door handle tightly, her fingertips white from the pressure.

"Thessaly!"

Penelope quickly walked over, standing beside her and holding her hand, trying to give her some warmth and strength.

"I..." Thessaly forced a smile, "I'm fine."

Penelope softly said, "You don't have to pretend with me."

These words gave Thessaly great comfort.

She nodded, closed her eyes to steady her emotions, and when she opened them again, she was much calmer.

"The photos are all in there, over a hundred of them." Thessaly almost gritted out the words, "I saw them all and destroyed them."

She opened her hand, revealing the shattered pieces of a USB drive.

She had gripped it so tightly that some fragments had pierced her skin, causing blood to seep out.

Penelope silently glanced at it, then turned to find the first aid kit.

Brandon's voice came, "They're all in there, no backups. Once you destroy them, no one will ever see those photos again."

"Did you look at them?" Thessaly asked.

"...No."

She responded calmly, her gaze showing no trace of lingering feelings for him.

Penelope pulled her to the sofa, using a cotton swab dipped in iodine to gently clean her wounds.

"Don't hurt yourself," Penelope said, "It's not worth it. Thessaly, you're my personally chosen spokesperson. If you're injured, what will we do about the ring photoshoot?"

"I... can still be the face of Adoring Cupid?"

"Of course you can."

Thessaly refused, "No, I can't. I've sued Paul for violating me; my reputation is damaged. I don't want to bring any negative impact to Adoring Cupid. Penelope, you should choose someone else, there are so many celebrities in the entertainment industry..."

"No," Penelope firmly rejected, "It has to be you. I won't accept or acknowledge anyone else."

Tears slowly filled Thessaly's eyes.

She held back from crying, instead nodding forcefully.

Penelope sniffled, quickly wiping her eyes.

Women understood women, women felt for women.

After treating the wound, Thessaly looked at Brandon, "You really have no conditions?"

"None."

"Then, I'm still going to sue Paul, pursue it to the end, and even... hold you accountable too?"

Because Brandon was the mastermind behind it all, the true villain who ruined her!

She wanted him to pay a heavy price, to see him... fall from grace!

Penelope forgave Brandon, but that was Penelope's choice.

For her, she hadn't forgiven Brandon!

"Do what makes you happy," Brandon said, "But... Thessaly, a mutually destructive confrontation isn't the best move for you. You've got a long future ahead. You can still make it big in the entertainment industry and become the actress you want to be."

"I don't care about fame and fortune, I don't want a career, I just want justice!"

"...Suit yourself."

Brandon walked out.

No one stopped him, and he didn't hesitate, quickly leaving.

Thessaly stared blankly at the door, "Was he really just here to deliver the USB drive..."

She thought of something and looked at Penelope, "You told me you secretly met with Brandon, and he refused to give you the photos. Why did he suddenly... suddenly..."

"I don't know," Penelope replied, "Maybe he really wants to stop."

Because continuing would benefit no one.

It would only lead to mutual destruction... oh no, triple destruction.

Kelvin, Penelope, Brandon, and Thessaly would all be implicated.

Penelope hugged Thessaly, "Anyway, there's finally a turning point. Without the threat of the photos, you can be more confident and bold in doing what you want. If you need help, come to me anytime, I'll always support you!"

She nodded.

"Thessaly, take your time to heal, whether it's a month, six months, or a year, until you're fully recovered," Penelope said, "Nothing can defeat you, just get back up when you fall."

"Right, nothing can defeat me. And everything is moving in a better direction, isn't it, Penelope?"

"Yes, it will only get better."

After comforting Thessaly for a while, Penelope left.

Thessaly got up to see her off.

At the door, Penelope turned and hugged her again, whispering in her ear, "Brandon doesn't deserve you, really... only his former self did, but not the current him. Don't dwell on him. Look forward, and you'll find someone better and more worthy."

Thessaly didn't respond, just patted her back.

Love wasn't something you could turn on and off at will.

It was not that easy to control.

"Call me anytime, or... come stay at The King Manor for a few days?" Penelope said, "Sam and Lucy would be thrilled."

Children's innocence could heal all wounds.

"Sure, I'll come when I have time."

Watching Kelvin and Penelope's car drive away, Thessaly put on a coat and went out.

She went to the underground garage, seeing a black car with its hazard lights on, and got in.

Brandon was in the driver's seat.

"I knew you'd come," Brandon said, "So I've been waiting."

Thessaly stared ahead, expressionless.

She came because the last photo on the USB drive had a line of text, saying—

"Underground garage, black car."

Brandon's secret message to her!

"Aren't you worried I didn't see the last photo?"

"You would see it," Brandon said confidently, "I know you."

"What's the use of knowing? Brandon, Penelope doesn't hate you, but I do."

"But you also love me."

Thessaly's heart ached.

Brandon knew exactly where her pain points were, always able to hit them easily!
