Chapter 575 Such a Pretty Lady Must Be My Godmother

She totally blew it.

Monica had been daydreaming about bossing Timothy around when the time came. Just the thought of it got her all excited. A whole month of ordering him around, free of charge!

But now, she had lost everything.

"Then go blame Kelvin," Penelope said. "Ask him why he isn't with Madison."

"You might as well just end me now," Monica groaned.

Penelope shrugged. "You're my best friend; I can't lose you. Anyway, I gotta get to work."

She had barely taken two steps when she heard fast, rhythmic footsteps behind her. Something was off. No adult runs like that. Only kids do!

But where would a kid come from in the Davis Group?

Penelope was about to turn around when a round, chubby little body latched onto her thigh. "Penelope!"

Penelope was startled. How could it be Sam? How could he be at the office?

"Penelope, surprised to see me? Bet you didn't expect this!" Sam grinned. "It's my first time at your workplace!"

Sam was super excited, hugging her leg and looking up with twinkling eyes.

"Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Penelope asked. "It's not the weekend."

"He wasn't feeling well this morning. Had breakfast and then threw up; just saw the doctor," Brandon explained as he walked over.

"Threw up?" Penelope's heart tightened. "What happened?"

Sam waved it off. "It's nothing, I'm fine now. Look, I'm bouncing around again!"

"He's got a strong immune system, recovers quickly, and he's really fine now," Brandon said. "He missed morning classes and wanted to see you, so I brought him over."

Knowing Sam had been sick, Penelope felt a bit heartbroken and patted his head. "Why didn't you call me when you went to the doctor?"

"Didn't want you to worry!" Sam said, then turned to look at Timothy and Monica.

"Sam," Timothy asked, "do you remember me?"

"Of course!" Sam replied.

"Did you miss me?" Timothy asked again. "I helped you a lot back then. If it weren't for me, could you have escaped from Kelvin so smoothly?"

Sam looked at him disdainfully. "Two grown men, getting all mushy about missing each other. It's so cheesy."

Next to them, Monica burst into laughter. "Hahaha, got shut down, didn't you!"

As she laughed, Sam laughed too.

He blinked. "Such a pretty lady must be my Godmother!"

"Yes, yes," Monica opened her arms. "Come here!"

Sam immediately jumped over, his little mouth sweet as honey. "You are even prettier than in the photos!"

Monica was overjoyed! Who doesn't love hearing that? Sam's sweet talk was so charming!

Timothy looked disdainful.

Penelope smiled and shook her head helplessly. She had long figured out Sam's personality.

"Really cute, you are even more handsome than in the photos," Monica genuinely liked and praised him. "When you grow up, who knows how many girls you'll charm."

When Penelope told her that Lucy had an older brother, Monica was both shocked and happy. Shocked that Penelope had twins! Happy that if Lucy went with Kelvin, at least Penelope would still have Sam by her side!

For various reasons, she hadn't met Sam until today.

Monica's frustration and helplessness from losing the bet vanished when she saw Sam.

"Come on, let's go play," Monica said. "My office is huge, and you can mess around all you want."

"Yay, yay!" Sam cheered.

She led the bouncing Sam away.

Timothy shook his head, glanced at Brandon, then at Penelope. "You guys, be careful. This is Kelvin's turf. There are people everywhere reporting to him. Keep it cool, don't be too intimate."

After all, these two were in love.

Timothy never thought Penelope would like Brandon. He always figured a woman who had liked Kelvin wouldn't look at any other man!

Brandon calmly replied, "Mr. Foster, you're joking."

"I'm not joking; I'm seriously advising you," Timothy pointed out. "There's a reception room over there. If you have something to say, go talk in there."

In the reception room, Penelope poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of Brandon. "Mr. Foster always talks nonsense. Don't take it to heart. I know the person in your heart has always been the true Mitchell family heiress, not Isabella, and certainly not me."

Brandon lowered his head slightly, making it hard to see his expression.

"You must have something to tell me this time," Penelope asked. "Sam wanting to see me, I guess, is just an excuse."

With Brandon's character and way of handling things, he wouldn't suddenly bring Sam to the Davis Group without notifying her in advance.

Brandon responded with a "hmm." "Penelope, you know what I want to say."

Penelope paused. "Are you still pleading for Isabella?"

"I'm not pleading for her; I'm pleading for the Mitchell family," Brandon said.

Isabella deserved her punishment and should pay for her actions. But the Mitchell family shouldn't be dragged down by Isabella.

Penelope sat down across from him. "I get it. I don't want the Mitchell family to suffer for Isabella's actions either. But using the Mitchell family as leverage might be the only way to get Isabella to undo the spell on Lucy. Mr. Walker, I have no other choice."

She quite liked Nicole, who always reminded her of the late Grace. Isabella was so fortunate to have a harmonious family, but after facing rejection, she self-destructed and hurt herself and others.

"You can deal with Isabella however you want; I have no objections. She's stubborn, and I can't save her. But Penelope, you really can't go after the Mitchell family," Brandon said.

"Why?" Penelope asked. "Mr. Walker, give me a reason, a convincing reason. Otherwise, I can't agree with you."

She knew Brandon was a reasonable person, never putting her in a difficult position. However, on the matter of the Mitchell family, Brandon kept asking her to back down. What was he thinking? What was he concerned about? Or did Brandon have his own difficulties?

After thinking for a moment, Penelope added, "Mr. Walker, I think our relationship has surpassed that of ordinary friends. There are no secrets between us; we can share everything. You can tell me your true thoughts, and we can face them together."
