Chapter 768 Isabella Died With Her Eyes Open
Kelvin raised his hand to press the elevator button.
Coincidentally, Brandon also reached out to press it.
Kelvin glanced at Brandon with a mocking tone, "You really are just as I imagined, more concerned about Isabella."
"Isabella is dead," Brandon said.
He was very calm, as if discussing the weather.
He knew very well that Isabella, falling from such a height, was undoubtedly dead!
"She deserved to die," Kelvin replied. "Dying like that was too easy for her!"
"She's already dead."
"You were there just now; I don't need to tell you what happened!" Kelvin said coldly. "At the most dangerous moment, I didn't see you step up and say a word! I didn't see you lend a hand!"
Brandon's voice was filled with helplessness, "I couldn't do anything. I couldn't save Isabella, couldn't save Sam. I couldn't save anyone, just stood there watching. I realized how useless I am, a complete waste."
He felt like a spectator, watching scene after scene unfold before his eyes.
Brian descended from above, changing the situation where Isabella was holding Sam hostage, altering the outcome.
Sam fell unconscious from excessive blood loss.
Brian and Isabella fell together.
Penelope fainted.
From beginning to end, Brandon watched it all with his own eyes.
He didn't know what to do. Penelope and Sam had doctors trying to save them. Even if he went over, he would just be waiting outside.
And now he was going downstairs.
He could at least collect Isabella's body!
This was the only thing Brandon could do now!
Downstairs.
The police had set up a cordon.
The high rescue air cushion was slowly deflating, and medical personnel were already kneeling beside Brian and Isabella, administering first aid.
Although it looked like there were no signs of life.
"My daughter!" Debra cried nearby, "Why did you have to do this? Why did you choose death when there are so many other paths in life?"
"You were all my hope, all my expectations. I lived hoping you would grow up, take care of me, let me live a good life, be respected. And now?"
"Now you're dead. What am I supposed to do? How am I supposed to live? I might as well die too!"
"Brent, you coward, say something! Our daughter is gone! You watched her grow up, and now you watched her die in front of you!"
Brent's face was expressionless, completely devoid of emotion, letting Debra shake him without saying a word.
He just quietly looked at Isabella.
Isabella died with her eyes open.
What kind of obsession made her unwilling to close her eyes even in death?
Falling from such a height, wasn't she afraid?
"No signs of life," the doctor who had been performing standard resuscitation procedures withdrew his hands and announced flatly, "We did our best."
Debra shouted, "No, it's impossible! Try again! This isn't real resuscitation; take her to the operating room, use all the equipment! No, you can't just give up like this!"
She tried to go forward and pull the doctor's clothes but was stopped by the police.
At this moment, the doctor resuscitating Brian said, "Quick, there's still hope. Arrange for surgery immediately! Hurry!"
The medical staff worked in perfect harmony, methodically lifting Brian onto a stretcher, stopping the bleeding, and administering fluids.
The whole scene was very quiet, like a silent pantomime.
In less than a minute, Brian was taken to the operating room.
And the nurse was about to cover Isabella with a white sheet.
"No!" Debra rushed over, throwing herself on Isabella, "My daughter isn't dead. She's not dead; she's just asleep. Get away! Get away!"
She tore off the white sheet and threw it far away. "No one touches my daughter. I will protect her."
Brent slowly walked over, "Debra."
"You get away too!" Debra screamed, "I don't want to see you!"
She held Isabella's head, covered in blood, looking terrifying and frightening.
Kelvin watched coldly.
Falling from the same height, Isabella died instantly!
But Brian still had a breath left!
Kelvin would mobilize the best medical resources in LA to save Brian! As long as there was a glimmer of hope, he wouldn't give up!
He wanted Brian to live!
He was the hero who saved Sam!
Kelvin had no intention of staying here any longer. He slightly turned his head and looked at Brandon.
"Today's events were not accidental but inevitable!" he said. "If that day, Penelope and I had spared Isabella because of your plea, once she gained freedom, she would have done something even crazier!"
By then, Isabella wouldn't have just taken Sam hostage.
She would have had an even more elaborate plan!
Today, Isabella clearly took the opportunity to act directly, grabbing a fruit knife to go down together, a spur-of-the-moment idea!
If given freedom and time, the consequences would have been even more unimaginable!
Brandon clenched his fists tightly, "I never truly saw through to her true self. Until she died, I think I finally understood her."
Isabella was a selfish, cold person.
She couldn't stand others living better than her, couldn't tolerate anyone stealing her spotlight, couldn't bear anyone taking what was originally hers.
And Penelope was better than her in every way.
So Isabella wanted to take revenge, even if it meant dying, to make Penelope suffer for a lifetime.
Brandon was always deceived by the facade Isabella put up in front of him.
What he saw was Isabella's gentle, considerate, and virtuous side.
Seeing it often, he thought that was the real Isabella, always imagining her as wonderful.
Until Isabella repeatedly shattered his perception of her, until now, when she died in front of him.
Brandon stood there from a distance, not approaching.
Isabella's eyes were still open, as if looking at him, or perhaps at the sky.
"Kelvin," Brandon asked, "Can I have Isabella's body?"
"Why should I give you her body?" Kelvin retorted.
"She's already dead."
"Does death absolve all sins?"
Brandon slowly spoke, "Are you unwilling to even let go of her body?"
Kelvin's voice was extremely cold, "If she had succeeded today, the body lying here wouldn't just be hers! She would have at least taken an innocent life with her! I hate her so much, I wish I could tear her apart!"
