Chapter 862 Kelvin Didn't Mean That, What About Thessaly?
"So, what's the deal with the endorsement? Are we still moving forward with it?"
Penelope couldn't stand the idea of a celebrity with questionable ties to her husband endorsing Adoring Cupid.
"Penelope, you okay?" Tina asked, looking worried. "You look kinda pale. Are you feeling sick?"
Penelope shook her head. "I'm fine."
She touched her face, trying to mask her emotions. But no matter how hard she tried to stay calm, her inner turmoil and disappointment were clear.
Plus, she suspected she might be pregnant.
Penelope glanced down at her flat stomach.
"Tina," she asked, "have you ever had your period delayed for a long time?"
"Yeah, it happens. At the end of the year or when I'm super stressed with design deadlines, I lose hair, and my period gets delayed. It's pretty normal."
"What's the longest delay you've had?"
Tina thought for a moment. "About two months, I think. I was gonna go to the hospital that weekend to get checked out and maybe take some meds, but my period came on Friday. Penelope, are you delayed too?"
Penelope quickly denied it. "No, just curious. You young folks are always busy with work, stressed out, eating irregularly, and staying up late. Your bodies are in a sub-healthy state."
"It's not that bad. It only happens once or twice a year. But I don't worry about it 'cause I'm single and don't have a boyfriend, so no pregnancy concerns!"
Penelope forced a laugh and grabbed her phone, standing up. "I'm heading to the restroom," she said.
She needed to calm down.
In her current state, she couldn't focus on work at all.
Actually, Penelope wasn't as shocked as she was when she first found out.
She trusted Kelvin's character and his love for her.
And she believed Kelvin's explanation.
Maybe he just helped Thessaly out of politeness, admired her, and lent her his jacket because Penelope liked Thessaly. Then the paparazzi caught them.
But Penelope still felt uneasy.
His jacket shouldn't be on another woman!
His embrace should only be for her!
It belonged to her and only her!
No one else could have it, no one!
And even if Kelvin had no intentions, what about Thessaly?
Could she really ignore Kelvin's charm?
"Hey, where's Penelope?" Monica burst out of her office just as Penelope left. "Wasn't she here?"
Tina nodded. "Yeah."
"Where is she?"
"She went to the restroom."
Monica started towards the restroom but stopped after a few steps.
"No, I can't. My temper..." Monica muttered to herself. "If I say something in anger and Penelope hears it, it'll blow things up. Kelvin wouldn't cheat. He wouldn't, right?"
Tina asked, "Monica, what are you mumbling about?"
"Adult matters, kids shouldn't get involved."
"I'm not a kid!" Tina pouted. "I'm in my late twenties!"
Monica replied offhandedly, "If you're not married, you're still a kid to me."
"Well, you're not married either!"
"I..."
Just then, Timothy walked in.
Monica's expression shifted the moment she saw him.
She wanted to slip away.
But then she thought, why should she act like a scared mouse? Why should she avoid Timothy?
What was she guilty of? She hadn't done anything wrong!
So what if she had a bit too much to drink last night, got a bit bold, and chatted with Timothy in her apartment all night?
She went to bed right after, and even got up early for work!
This time, after drinking, it was strange. Monica usually wouldn't remember what she said or did, even if she wasn't drunk. But this morning...
She remembered everything clearly!
What she talked about with Penelope, what she told Kelvin, and what happened with Timothy, every scene was etched in her memory.
She couldn't shake it off!
"Mr. Foster," Tina greeted.
Timothy nodded and looked at Monica. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?"
"Your head isn't dizzy or hurting?" Timothy asked. "You were complaining it was going to explode. Were you planning to take a day off? How come you're here earlier than me?"
"You're the boss, I'm the employee. I have to work."
"I'll allow you to take a paid day off," Timothy said.
Normally, if Timothy offered, Monica would have accepted it.
A day off without losing pay!
Timothy was surprised by Monica's reaction. "What, you don't want to?"
"Not today," Monica replied. "I have things to do, I can't leave the office."
"What important things? I don't know about it."
Monica asked, "You don't know?"
"The secretary didn't report it to me."
Timothy was the vice president, and he was informed about all major company matters. He hadn't heard a thing. Where did Monica get her information?
"It's not work-related, it's..." Monica looked around. "I can't say!"
"Then come to my office and tell me."
"Forget it, I'm afraid I'll end up yelling at you."
Kelvin and Timothy were like brothers, inseparable.
Now that Kelvin was caught in a scandal, who knew if Timothy would be next?
That actress was stunning. She stood out in any crowd, with impeccable looks and style, outshining any ordinary person!
What man could resist?
Even Monica, when she occasionally saw a beautiful actress, couldn't help but take a second look.
Let alone men!
Men are naturally drawn to beauty!
Thinking this, Monica rolled her eyes at Timothy and walked away in her high heels.
Timothy was baffled. "Tina, what's up with her?"
"I don't know, Mr. Foster."
Tina scratched her head. "Not only is Monica acting strange, but Penelope also looked really upset today. I don't know what's going on."
Timothy stroked his chin, pondering for a few seconds.
Ask Kelvin!
He sent a message but got no response.
He was about to call when Penelope appeared.
She was holding her phone, heading straight out.
"Hey, Penelope," Timothy called out. "Where are you going?"
"Do I need to report to you, Mr. Foster?"
Whoa, she was in a foul mood.
Usually, Penelope was all smiles, gentle and kind. Today, she seemed to have Monica's temper!
