Chapter 1074 Kelvin Really Has an Accident, Davis Group Also Operates Normally
"Hold on, let's wait and see. Don't freak out," he reassured her. "Kelvin gets a physical every year and works out all the time. He's in great shape; nothing's gonna happen to him."
Penelope nodded, trying to stay calm.
"I've kept the news about Kelvin's coma under wraps," Timothy continued. "I haven't told the Davis family yet because I'm worried about Liam's heart. I've also made sure the secretaries and the jewelry department staff keep quiet about it."
Timothy was used to handling crises like this.
The sudden collapse of a CEO in a major corporation was a momentous affair that stirred the very depths of one's soul!
Until they had more information, the news couldn't get out.
Penelope listened and suddenly remembered something, staring directly at Timothy.
"What's up?" Timothy asked. "What do you want to say?"
"I remember when Kelvin transferred all his shares to me, he mentioned something," Penelope murmured, trying to recall. "He said if anything ever happened to him, then..."
Her mind was a mess, unable to think clearly.
She had a bad feeling about this.
Penelope felt that Kelvin's coma wasn't sudden but had been coming for a while.
Only Kelvin knew, and he didn't tell anyone else.
That's why he started transferring shares, arranging her future bit by bit, and often mentioned that she would be fine even if he weren't around... Was Kelvin trying to prepare her, giving her a heads-up?
He was trying to prevent her from falling into panic and fear if something like this happened!
By mentioning it beforehand, he was giving her a bit of mental preparation!
"Alright, Penelope, stop overthinking," Monica said, coming over and holding her hand. "Don't scare yourself. Let's wait a bit longer and see what the doctors say. Maybe, it's not that serious."
"He's in the emergency room. How can it not be serious?"
Monica was stunned, not knowing how to respond.
She quickly gave Timothy a look.
Say something!
Timothy wasn't good at this kind of thing. He'd said what he could and done what he needed to do.
"Actually, it's probably not that serious," Timothy stammered. "The doctors haven't said anything yet, so don't jump to conclusions about Kelvin's condition."
"Even if, worst-case scenario, something does happen to Kelvin, the Davis Group will continue to operate normally. Don't worry..."
Before Timothy could finish, Monica pinched him hard several times.
"What's wrong, Monica?" Timothy asked, confused. "That hurts..."
"Stop talking. Just shut up."
"Weren't you just telling me to..."
"Shut up!" Monica insisted. "Please, I'm begging you!"
Was that supposed to be comforting?
It was more like scaring her!
Talking about "if something really happens" and "normal operations"—he was just making things worse!
Monica felt desperate, realizing she had relied on Timothy to comfort someone.
Men just didn't know how to comfort people!
So frustrating!
Fine, Timothy obediently stayed quiet.
Monica's word was law.
Penelope kept her head down, silent, her hair falling over half her face, hiding her expression.
"Penelope, let's sit for a bit," Tina said softly. "I'll stay with you. Monica, Mr. Foster, why don't you go to the hospital and see if you can find out anything?"
That was a good idea.
Monica quickly agreed. "Alright, stay with Penelope and don't leave her. She needs someone right now."
"Don't worry, Monica."
Tina was young but very thoughtful and understanding, so Monica felt reassured. She tugged Timothy. "Let's go."
Timothy followed her out.
"Monica, how are we supposed to find out anything?" Timothy asked. "Kelvin's still in the emergency room, the doctors are operating, and no one outside knows the real situation. Unless they issue a critical condition notice or need family for something..."
"Timothy!"
"Yes?"
Monica was at a loss for words. "Can you say something positive?"
"I'm just stating the facts."
Timothy's thinking was always realistic.
In the business world, they maintained extreme rationality.
Was Timothy wrong?
No.
But it was unsettling and made people anxious!
"I know it's the truth, but Penelope is barely holding on. If you keep talking like this, it'll only make her feel worse," Monica replied. "Right now, Tina is more comforting than you!"
There was no real way to find out anything.
It was just to give Penelope some hope.
In times of despair, people need hope the most!
Timothy sighed. "Alright, so we just stand here?"
"Yes, we'll go back in a bit," Monica said. "I don't understand what's going on with Kelvin. A healthy person shouldn't suddenly collapse and end up in the emergency room."
She was puzzled and looked at Timothy.
"Monica... why are you looking at me like that?"
"You and Kelvin are so close, you must know something," Monica suddenly leaned in, pressing him. "Did he say anything to you beforehand?"
Timothy looked innocent. "He didn't say anything to me!"
"Really?"
"Of course! I wouldn't lie to you."
Monica stared at him. "Then why did you say that even if something happens to Kelvin, the Davis Group will be fine? It sounds like you were prepared."
Timothy answered seriously. "Monica, a company of this size always has contingency plans. Whether Kelvin is temporarily out or something more serious, there's a process to keep everyone calm. Besides..."
"Besides what?"
Timothy pursed his lips, suddenly feeling that something was off.
He remembered Kelvin had recently transferred all his shares to Penelope.
Now, Kelvin had nothing, no power, no shares!
He had willingly given it all up!
So, even if something happened to Kelvin, the company wouldn't be affected because all the interests were with Penelope.
And Penelope was still fine.
