Chapter 860 Penelope, You Said You Believed in Me

Penelope's coat had slipped down to her waist, revealing the off-shoulder top she wore underneath. The top perfectly outlined her stunning figure with its graceful curves.

She and Kelvin were standing so close together.

That chest was supposed to be Penelope's to lean on!

That coat was meant for her and no other woman!

Why? What was going on?

How did Thessaly end up with both?

Penelope looked at the photos one by one, trying to stay calm.

But halfway through, she couldn't take it anymore. Her hand shook, and the photos slipped from her grasp, scattering on the floor.

"Penelope!" Kelvin looked at her, worried.

Penelope took a deep breath. "Kelvin, you need to explain. Are these photos fake, or are they real?"

"They're real."

Her body swayed.

Kelvin admitted it!

Of course, his coat wouldn't just end up on Thessaly by accident. Photoshop wasn't that advanced yet!

And Kelvin was definitely holding Thessaly!

Thessaly looked so delicate and pitiful in his arms!

"Last night, you went to that dinner, and this is what happened?" Penelope asked. "Kelvin, how could you do this to me?"

Was it because she didn't go, so he felt free to act this way?

Or did the agency set Thessaly up with him at the dinner?

Or maybe Thessaly seduced him, and he fell for it?

Or was he already interested in Thessaly?

Penelope didn't dare to think about it.

She hadn't felt this kind of fear in a long, long time.

She suddenly realized that loving someone with all your heart meant giving them the power to hurt you.

She had given Kelvin the chance to hurt her, over and over again!

If he stopped loving her, if he betrayed her and chose someone else, it would be the beginning of her heartbreak!

Kelvin raised his hand and gripped her shoulders. "Penelope, the photos were taken by paparazzi. You know how they are, always looking for angles to create scandals. The truth isn't what it looks like."

"The facts are right here. Are you saying Thessaly stole your coat to wear it? Kelvin, you have a thing about cleanliness. You hate it when others touch your stuff. I know that better than anyone!"

"I gave her the coat. I just handed it to her, and she put it on herself," Kelvin explained. "She was wearing something quite revealing, and she seemed uncomfortable, so I helped her out."

Penelope looked at him. "You were that kind?"

"A lot happened at the dinner. It was complicated. I can't explain it all at once."

"Yeah, I don't understand your social life, your business empire, your ambitions, your dilemmas. How could I?"

"Penelope," Kelvin frowned, "don't say things you don't mean."

"I'm not!"

Even though she said that, her heart was still heavy, filled with frustration.

Kelvin had really given Thessaly his coat.

He did treat Thessaly differently!

"And what about holding her?" Penelope picked up the most intimate photo. "Don't tell me she was about to fall, and you just happened to catch her!"

Kelvin pressed his lips together. "That's exactly what happened."

Penelope almost laughed in anger.

She couldn't believe she guessed it right!

"Penelope, I went to help Thessaly terminate her contract because you asked me to. How could I possibly flirt with her?" Kelvin sighed. "Even if I wanted something with her, I wouldn't have chosen last night."

He could have done it secretly, and there was no rush.

If he wanted to hide something, Penelope would never know.

"And besides, Penelope, if I really had something with her, do you think these photos would be so easily exposed?"

Kelvin was trying to explain.

He thought Penelope would believe him.

But he underestimated women!

Women's minds work differently from men's!

Kelvin tried to use logic.

But Penelope only heard, "If I wanted to do it, I could."

"Yeah," Penelope replied, "you're smart, resourceful, and powerful. If you wanted to cover something up, it would never see the light of day!"

"Penelope, that's not what I meant."

"Anyway, you gave Thessaly your coat, and you held her. That's the truth, right?"

Kelvin nodded. "Yes, but I explained why I gave her the coat and why I held her."

Penelope bit her lip.

She felt like a fool.

She had worked so hard to find the perfect spokesperson for Adoring Cupid, someone who would perfectly match the brand's image.

She chose Thessaly because she loved her personality and offered to help her.

She did all this, and what did she get?

Did she set herself up for this?

She turned her head, looking at the photos, feeling even more upset!

"Penelope, you said you trusted me." Kelvin bent down to look her in the eye. "I love you so much. How could I do anything to hurt you for another woman?"

"But you do treat Thessaly differently."

"That's because you like her," Kelvin replied. "You care about her, so I treated her differently for your sake."

Otherwise, even if Kelvin admired Thessaly, he wouldn't have given her his coat or helped her up!

Many women had tried to fake a fall to get close to him, hoping for a story.

But every time, Kelvin just watched coldly. He would even step aside and let them fall, showing no sympathy, and walk away as if nothing had happened.

"Trust me, Penelope." Kelvin softened his voice. "I only love you."

She turned her head away, not looking at him.

"If I ever do anything to hurt you, may I, Kelvin, die a horrible death..."

"Stop!" Penelope was terrified by his oath and quickly stopped him. "I..."

Kelvin's eyes remained clear. "Do you believe me now?"

Penelope's heart wavered.

She had been scared by Monica's words, and seeing the photos had made her blood boil with anger, leaving no room for reason.
