Chapter 875 How Could There Be Blood, Where Are You Hurt?
As Penelope sang the birthday song, her voice was soft and sweet. Kelvin made a wish while listening to her, feeling utterly content.
Tonight, it was just her celebrating with him.
Brandon's real intentions hadn't been achieved at all!
"It's okay, it's okay," Brandon closed his eyes, taking deep breaths. "There will be plenty of opportunities. This is just one time; there will be a next time and the time after that!"
He couldn't believe that every time, Penelope would unwaveringly stand by Kelvin's side and always trust him!
Even if she trusted Kelvin, there had to be a point where that trust could be broken!
On the street, people walked in small groups, and cars flowed continuously.
Penelope leaned entirely into Kelvin's arms, looking very delicate and dependent.
Kelvin didn't say a word, holding her as they walked to the car.
"Are you mad?" Penelope asked softly, "Kelvin, why are you angry?"
Even though she felt unwell, with a dizzy and painful stomach, she still cared about Kelvin's feelings.
"What do you think?" Kelvin retorted, "Penelope, you're doing this on purpose to upset me."
"No, I just came to celebrate Brandon's birthday. I didn't do anything else, nothing happened."
Kelvin's face remained stern. "When I opened the door, what were you two doing behind it?"
"I was about to leave, but the carpet was soft, and I twisted my ankle in my high heels. I almost fell. Brandon tried to help me, and just then, you pushed the door open, so I grabbed the door handle to stand up."
Kelvin looked down at her foot.
He pursed his lips and, without another word, scooped her up in his arms.
Her high heel slipped off and fell to the ground.
"Hey, my shoe," Penelope called out, "My shoe fell off!"
"Forget it."
"What?"
Kelvin said, "From now on, you're not allowed to wear heels over two inches. I'll replace all your high heels at home."
"That's such a waste."
He countered, "Do you want to fall again?"
"Of course not. I'm not that clumsy to trip while walking," Penelope mumbled, "Tonight, it's just because I feel a bit unwell."
Despite his anger, Kelvin was very concerned when he heard she was unwell.
"What's wrong? Is it your stomach again?"
"No, it's just that I..."
Before Penelope could finish, Kelvin had already opened the car door and placed her in the passenger seat.
Penelope leaned back in the seat, her face flushed.
She looked so alluring, like a ripe peach waiting to be picked!
After fastening her seatbelt, Kelvin stood up, but a flash of red caught his eye.
He frowned and looked down.
There was a bloodstain on his shirt.
Blood?
Where did the blood come from?
He wasn't injured, so it must be...
"Penelope? Penelope!" Kelvin's voice filled with panic. "Where are you hurt? Tell me. I'll take you to the hospital right now. Don't be scared."
"Why is there blood? Where are you injured?"
Penelope's lower abdomen throbbed with pain, so much that she couldn't speak.
She had experienced menstrual cramps before, but never this severe.
The pain made her forehead sweat, she felt nauseous, her hands were weak, and her lips were pale.
She didn't know what was happening...
Kelvin's face grew serious. "Penelope, don't scare me. I'll call an ambulance right now!"
He couldn't panic; he had to stay calm!
Penelope placed her hands on her lower abdomen, trying to warm it with her palms to ease the pain.
But it didn't help.
Seeing her holding her stomach made Kelvin even more anxious.
Why was she holding her stomach?
Could it be...
His whole body tensed!
Penelope curled up into a ball.
Kelvin saw the bloodstain on the seat and on Penelope's pants.
Now he was even more terrified.
There was so much blood on him, on the seat, on her pants, and she was holding her stomach.
So, Penelope was... having a miscarriage?
The thought hit Kelvin like a thunderclap.
His hands shook as he dialed for an ambulance.
He couldn't stop shaking...
"Kelvin..." Penelope said, "No, don't..."
Going to the hospital for menstrual cramps was too embarrassing and ridiculous.
It wasn't necessary!
A painkiller would solve it!
But Kelvin couldn't hear her; he just held her hand. "I'm here, I'm here."
Penelope wanted to say more, but a wave of pain made her gasp.
Her sanitary pad must have soaked through, causing the blood to stain her pants.
This period was really tough.
It must be because it was delayed for so long, now all the symptoms were showing up.
"Kelvin, take me home," Penelope shook his hand, "Home."
"How can we go home? We're going to the hospital, Penelope, it's okay, I'm here."
Kelvin didn't know what he was saying; he was just following his instincts. "No matter what, you'll be fine, Penelope. As long as you're okay, nothing else matters."
"Having you is enough. Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you. The ambulance is almost here."
"Penelope, what happened in the room? Did Brandon..."
Kelvin's eyes turned sharp. "Did Brandon do something to you?"
"No," Penelope shook her head, "No. I, I..."
She was just on her period!
The blood was from her period!
But he had misunderstood.
And now, the sound of the ambulance siren was approaching.
Penelope felt both pain and despair.
The ambulance arrived so quickly, oh no...
Would she make the front page of LA's social news tomorrow, with a headline like "Woman rushed to hospital at night for severe abdominal pain, husband calls ambulance, turns out to be menstrual cramps"?
"It's here," Kelvin said with relief, "Penelope, the ambulance is here, don't be scared."
He bent down, picked her up, and quickly carried her to the ambulance.
The paramedic asked, "What's the situation?"
"She suddenly had severe abdominal pain and started bleeding," Kelvin tried to stay calm as he described Penelope's symptoms. "There's blood on my shirt, the passenger seat, and her pants."
Thinking about the blood, he thought it might be his child.
No, it had to be his child.
Why else would Penelope suddenly bleed?
Her period had been delayed, she hadn't gone to the hospital for a check-up, so she must be pregnant.
This morning, he was supposed to take her to the hospital, but the incident with Thessaly's photos had delayed them.
