Chapter 1085 Brandon Won't Give Up So Easily
"Right now, taking care of your health is the most important thing!"
"Penelope, never tell a man he can't do something," Kelvin shot back. "It's a pride thing. Even if he can't, he has to try."
"Stop it. Quit messing around and eat something first."
She tried to pull away from his grasp, but he held her tighter, leaning in to find her lips.
He cherished every minute he spent with her.
Kelvin knew very well that his time in the hospital might be the last happy moments he had with Penelope.
Once he was discharged, there were so many things he had to deal with.
Just as their lips were about to meet, there was a knock on the door.
"Mr. Davis, Penelope?" Thessaly's voice came through. "Are you there? Can I come in?"
Penelope was startled and quickly turned her head away, pushing Kelvin back.
"Yeah, we're here," she called out loudly. "Come in, Thessaly!"
Kelvin frowned, a bit annoyed.
He was just about to kiss Penelope, and now they were interrupted!
Of course, he wasn't happy about it!
Penelope glanced at him, signaling him to keep his cool.
She tugged on his sleeve. "Thessaly is here to visit you... I'll let you kiss me later, okay?"
She knew he would throw a fit if he didn't get what he wanted.
Kelvin was quite petty and needed to be pacified, like giving a child a candy.
His expression softened a bit.
He sat down and picked up his fork, eating his meal slowly and deliberately.
He was born into wealth and had been pampered since childhood. Even in a hospital room, he ate with elegance and composure, chewing his food slowly and unhurriedly.
"I hope I'm not interrupting," Thessaly said, placing a bouquet of flowers on the table. "I wasn't sure what to bring, so I thought flowers would be nice."
"Thank you, the flowers are beautiful."
Thessaly smiled. "I hope you get well soon, Mr. Davis."
"It's just a minor issue," Kelvin replied nonchalantly. "I'll be out in a couple of days. How did you find out?"
"Ryan told me," Thessaly said. "I went to the legal department at Davis Group to discuss dropping the lawsuit."
Penelope was surprised. "You're not suing Paul anymore?"
"That's right."
"Why? What made you change your mind?"
Thessaly explained, "I thought about it for a long time. If I continue with the lawsuit, it will only cause more trouble for you. Plus, I have a contract with Adoring Cupid, and I don't want my negative news to affect the brand. Besides, I want to keep acting. It's my career and my passion."
"Fighting Paul would ruin him, but it would also drain me. He's a jerk, and if I keep going, it will be a lose-lose situation. If a dog bites me, do I need to bite it back?"
"Letting go of the past allows for a better future," Thessaly smiled. "Right?"
Penelope nodded. "Yes! It's great that you came to this realization. Whether to pursue or let go is your choice. Do what you think is best."
Kelvin continued eating his breakfast without saying a word.
But he glanced at Thessaly.
Kelvin suspected it wasn't as simple as Thessaly made it out to be. Brandon must have talked to her.
She still loved Brandon, so she agreed to let Paul go for Brandon's sake.
Only Penelope would believe such an explanation.
But it was fine. The matter was resolved, and Thessaly had a chance to start over.
Thessaly knew that nothing escaped Kelvin's notice.
"I feel like I came at a bad time," Thessaly said. "I interrupted your breakfast."
Penelope replied, "It's okay. We got up late, so this is almost lunch."
As they spoke, there was another knock on the door.
Penelope went to open it and found a nurse standing there.
"Mrs. Davis," the nurse said, "the doctor needs to speak with you."
"Is it about the test results?"
"I'm not sure. You'll find out when you get there."
Penelope nodded quickly. "Okay, I'll go right away."
She turned back. "Kelvin, finish your meal. I'll check on you when I get back. Thessaly, please wait here. I'll be back soon."
"Don't worry, take your time."
Penelope hurried out with the nurse.
Thessaly looked at Kelvin. "I saw Brandon's car outside."
Kelvin paused, holding his fork.
"Why is he here?" Thessaly asked. "He shouldn't know you're in the hospital."
"I am surrounded by his spies."
"What?"
Kelvin replied calmly, "I'll handle it. Don't worry."
Thessaly frowned. "Mr. Davis, I don't think Brandon will give up easily. After everything he's done, and now that I've found evidence against him, he won't just let it go. He'll come back, and his methods will be even more cunning and hidden."
"He won't have the chance."
"Why?"
Kelvin looked at her. "I said he won't get Penelope, and he won't."
Even if he died, he wouldn't let Penelope fall into Brandon's hands.
Brandon didn't deserve her!
Someone as selfish and deceitful as Brandon, who did despicable things in the name of love, had no limits.
Yes, Kelvin believed that Brandon loved Penelope deeply now... but what about after he got her? After he truly had her?
Brandon wouldn't cherish her!
Once he had her, the thrill of the chase would be gone!
It would be boring!
"Okay," Thessaly said. "I believe you, Mr. Davis. Brandon is no match for you!"
She remained firmly in Kelvin's camp.
Unwavering!
Kelvin and Penelope were her benefactors, her saviors!
"You should give up completely on Brandon, too," Kelvin said. "I'll give you a month off. Do whatever you want. After a month, come back to work, be a good spokesperson, take on new roles, act, join new projects... can you do that?"
Thessaly replied, "I can!"
"And don't see Brandon privately anymore. If you still have feelings for him, you're giving him another chance to hurt you."
Kelvin kept warning her.
He could see that Thessaly's love for Brandon hadn't faded!
It was a very dangerous sign!
"Of course... nothing escapes your notice," Thessaly said with a wry smile. "After you and Penelope left that day, I met Brandon in the parking garage. He said a lot, and I agreed to drop the lawsuit and let things settle."
