Chapter 868 Men Are Not Important, Money Is Important

Tina declared confidently, "I'm sure! I won't say a word about this!"

This was a minor issue, and without any gossip value, Tina could definitely keep it to herself.

Penelope felt relieved.

As for the big secrets, it was best not to let Tina know.

Young people...they always tend to spill the beans!

Lunchtime, at the employee cafeteria.

Penelope was picking at her food, not feeling hungry at all.

"What's up, boss lady? Not feeling today's menu?" Monica asked. "You've barely touched your food."

"I just can't eat, not hungry at all."

"Trying to become a goddess or something?"

Penelope replied, "I already am a fairy!"

Monica was speechless.

"Could it be..." Monica thought of something. "Is it because of those photos of Kelvin and Thessaly?"

Penelope quickly hushed her, "Shh! Don't let anyone hear."

"Why are you so nervous? It's Kelvin who wronged you! I was just about to ask you!"

"It's a misunderstanding," Penelope said. "It's all a misunderstanding. Kelvin and Thessaly have nothing going on. The paparazzi just caught them at a bad angle to create a scandal for clicks."

Monica looked skeptical. "Angle? Tell me, what angle makes it look like she's snuggling in Kelvin's arms? And the coat she's wearing, did the paparazzi Photoshop that too?"

"It really is a misunderstanding. Kelvin didn't betray me, and Thessaly isn't that kind of person."

Monica suddenly fell silent, giving her a strange look.

Penelope felt uneasy under her gaze. "What? What are you doing?"

"After all this, you can still defend Kelvin? Penelope, when did you become so naive?"

She was baffled. "What am I tolerating? What am I being naive about? It's really a misunderstanding!"

Monica reached out to feel her forehead. "You don't have a fever, you're perfectly normal. You're still the Penelope I know. I mean, have you already taken on the burden of being a rich wife?"

"What nonsense." Penelope swatted her hand away. "If I were acting like a rich wife, why would I still be working? I'd be living it up every day!"

"A rich wife has to learn to endure, Penelope. Don't you dare learn that."

"Monica, how many times do I have to explain..."

Penelope felt like Monica had already concocted a whole drama in her head.

"Listen, Penelope," Monica said sternly. "No matter how wealthy or powerful the Davis family is, we have to have our limits and dignity. We don't lower ourselves, and we don't take undeserved losses."

"Kelvin must have cast some spell on you; you're even defending him now. Have you forgotten how we used to curse him together?"

"If he really has something going on with Thessaly, those photos are your evidence. You can sue him. He's at fault, the kids will be yours, and you'll get more of the marital assets!"

Penelope quickly stopped her. "Stop, stop, stop. Monica, let me make this clear: if Kelvin ever does anything to betray me, and I don't divorce him, then..."

"Then what?"

"Then I'm a dog!"

Monica shook her head. "Not harsh enough."

Penelope said, "Anyway, I won't let myself be wronged. You can count on that!"

Monica thought about her friend's character and felt reassured.

Penelope wasn't the type to be blinded by love or to suffer in silence while her husband cheated.

It seemed those photos were indeed suspicious.

"Alright," Monica nodded. "But still, be on guard. Today it's Thessaly, tomorrow it could be someone else, all throwing themselves at Kelvin!"

"What am I guarding against? This kind of thing depends on the man's integrity. If he wants to cheat, even if I follow him 24/7, he'll find a way!"

Monica nodded more vigorously. "Exactly. So, Penelope, men aren't important; money is. You need to save some private money for yourself, got it? In critical moments, your own money is the most reliable. You can use it without asking anyone!"

"Got it, got it."

After this conversation, Monica also lost her appetite, poking at her food. "Why can't men just be faithful? Is it that hard? And some women, can't they have some self-respect? Knowing the guy is married, yet they still throw themselves at him."

Penelope suddenly leaned in mysteriously.

She nudged Monica's shoulder. "Kelvin is married, but your Timothy is still publicly single."

"What do you mean 'my' Timothy? When did he become mine?"

"He will be yours sooner or later," Penelope said. "Look, everyone in LA knows Kelvin is married, yet women still throw themselves at him. And Timothy, being single and with a better personality than Kelvin, wouldn't women be all over him?"

Monica paused, realizing it made sense.

"But," Penelope continued, "so far, Timothy hasn't been involved in any scandals or entanglements with any woman."

That made even more sense!

However, Monica said, "Maybe he's just really good at handling women, making them all obedient and loyal. A playboy like him must have plenty of tricks!"

"Have you ever seen him handle women?"

Monica couldn't answer.

She really hadn't!

"Neither have I," Penelope said. "If Timothy had any flaws, I would have pried it out of Kelvin and told you by now."

Monica changed the subject. "Why are we suddenly talking about him? Let's eat."

"I'm reminding you, Monica. Timothy staying clean and resisting those women shows he's got good character and isn't a player. You should make a move, or else, if another woman snatches him, you'll have nowhere to cry!"

"Let some woman take him, I'd be glad," Monica said. "Then he wouldn't bother me all the time!"

Since coming back from Crystal City, Timothy had brought up the bet.

The bet she lost, which she had already fulfilled by being his girlfriend for a month.

But then, she made another bet with Timothy.

The bet was that he wouldn't fall in love with her.

Monica was confident she would win this bet. How could Timothy ever fall in love with her?
