Chapter 893 Please, Come In
Kelvin gently stroked her long hair. "Penelope, I get that you mean well. But everyone's gotta live their own life. Some things you just have to go through to really get it. Sometimes you gotta take the long way to find your path."
In life, whether it was love or career, there were no shortcuts.
To get where you want to be, you have to put in your effort and exploration!
Kelvin and Penelope had completely different viewpoints.
However, their thoughts didn't clash; instead, they understood each other.
The night was quiet.
Kelvin's voice was magnetic, deep, and soothing.
It felt like no matter what he said, Penelope wanted to nod in agreement.
"You make a good point, but I want to help them avoid unnecessary detours and hardships, to find happiness a bit sooner and easier."
"Yeah, so we can give advice and suggestions, but we can't make decisions for them." Kelvin kissed the top of her head. "Stop overthinking. Close your eyes and get some good sleep, or you'll struggle to get up in the morning."
"Sleeping in is what normal people do!" Penelope mumbled. "Not everyone is like you, disciplined to the point of being scary, getting up the moment the alarm goes off, or not needing an alarm at all, waking up like a robot."
"Then, how about I sleep in with you?"
"You make it sound like I'm the one making you lazy."
Kelvin chuckled.
She found the most comfortable position in Kelvin's arms and closed her eyes.
Kelvin held her close. "Goodnight."
They fell asleep in each other's arms, just like countless nights before.
However, this night was not as peaceful as it seemed.
At the entrance of Rosewood Manor, someone slipped an envelope into the mailbox and quickly left.
At the same time, at Connor and Nicole's place, there were envelopes placed at their doors, easily visible as soon as the doors opened!
The sky gradually brightened.
Connor, an early riser, opened the door and kicked something.
He looked down and saw an envelope.
Who left this?
Without thinking much, Connor picked it up and opened it.
A stack of photos fell out.
The Mitchell family.
Nicole had just come downstairs when a servant handed her an envelope. "Mrs. Wright, I found this at the door this morning."
"Who sent it?"
"I don't know. There's no name on it. I found it on the ground when I opened the door."
Nicole frowned and opened it.
Inside was a stack of photos.
The same thing happened at Rosewood Manor.
Liam had a habit of reading the newspaper every morning. The latest newspaper was always delivered and placed on the dining table by the butler.
Today, there was an extra envelope next to the newspaper.
Liam opened the envelope, and his face turned pale as he saw the photos, almost losing his breath.
"Get the car ready! We're going to The King Manor!"
Leaning on his cane, Liam left without even having breakfast.
The King Manor.
Everything was calm and peaceful, the morning light gently spreading across the ground, a cool breeze blowing.
It was early autumn, and the mornings were a bit chilly.
Servants were sweeping the fallen leaves, gardeners were tending to the flower beds, and the kitchen was preparing breakfast. Everything was orderly, just like any other day.
Suddenly, a car sped in from outside.
Then another car drove in, followed by another…
Three cars in total, all stopping at the entrance of The King Manor.
The butler was taken aback. Who could this be, and why such a grand entrance?
When he saw who got out of the three cars, he quickly went to greet them.
First, he had to be hospitable!
The butler, smiling and respectful, greeted them, "Please, come in!"
He thought the three elders had planned to come together.
"Connor," Liam looked at Connor, "What brings you here so early?"
He then turned to Nicole. "Mrs. Wright, too, what a coincidence."
Nicole forced a smile. "I missed my daughter, so I came to see her."
"Yes, yes," Connor added, "I missed the kids too, and since I had nothing else to do, I came over."
Liam laughed heartily. "Right, right, me too."
It seemed harmonious.
All three had received the photos, yet none of them mentioned a word about it!
They were tight-lipped!
They wanted to understand the situation first, not start a big argument right away.
They were all respectable people, and they were in-laws. Whatever the issue, it could be discussed calmly. There was no need for conflict.
Solving the problem was the priority, not venting emotions!
Liam intended to see Kelvin and privately ask him about the woman in the photos, why he did such a thing. Was he too comfortable and looking for trouble?
It was best to resolve it quietly!
Connor and Nicole planned to ask Penelope privately about the photos. What was going on?
As Penelope's adoptive father and biological mother, their first thought was naturally to ask her.
Nicole felt a pang of heartache.
If these photos were real, what would Penelope do? Could she handle it?
How could Kelvin do this to Penelope?
Their relationship had always been good. Why would Kelvin suddenly mess up?
A mother's heart ached most for her daughter.
Being women, they could best understand how a woman feels in such situations.
The butler, smiling, led the three elders inside and instructed the servants to prepare refreshments.
At the same time, the butler was secretly surprised, sensing something was off.
So he found an opportunity and quickly went upstairs to the master bedroom!
A knock on the door.
Kelvin opened his eyes and first looked at the woman in his arms.
Penelope frowned slightly. "Who is it?"
She was awake but too sleepy to open her eyes.
"I'll go check," Kelvin said, getting out of bed. "You sleep a bit more."
"Okay."
Penelope lazily responded, turning over and continuing to sleep.
