Chapter 926 Let's Divorce, Kelvin

"Kelvin..."

"I'm here."

The moment she spoke, he responded immediately.

"Do you hate me?" Penelope asked, "Even a little?"

"How could I ever hate you, Penelope?"

"But I hate myself."

Kelvin sighed and reached out to pull her into his arms, but she resisted, pressing against his chest, unwilling to get too close.

"Kelvin... I'm dirty," Penelope said, "Even if I shower, change clothes, and am clean from head to toe, I'm still dirty, invisibly dirty."

Her eyes grew moist, and she blinked rapidly to hold back the tears.

She lifted her head and met Kelvin's gaze.

"I know what you're thinking. You don't blame me. You think it's not my fault. I know that, too. I did nothing wrong. I was a victim," Penelope's voice was soft, "But it doesn't change the fact... that it happened."

"Kelvin, I don't deserve you, and I don't deserve this marriage anymore."

"This will be the deepest thorn in both our hearts. Even if you don't mention it and I try not to think about it, it will always be there, occasionally hurting, reminding both of us."

"You're wonderful, truly wonderful," Penelope said, smiling, "So wonderful that I feel like the happiest woman in the world, without a doubt."

"You want to give me another wedding. Even though you didn't go into details, I know it would be the most luxurious and extravagant wedding in LA. You always give me the best."

"We were going to watch the stars together, pick a small asteroid, and name it Vesper Davis..."

How beautiful it all was.

Just thinking about it made her heart swell with happiness.

But it no longer belonged to her.

Seeing Penelope like this, Kelvin panicked, "Penelope. Don't think like that. Don't have any other ideas. Just stay by my side, and I'll handle everything, okay?"

When she cried, he wasn't panicked; he was just heartbroken.

When she scrubbed her body endlessly in the bathroom, he wasn't panicked; he was just in pain.

But at this moment, panic spread through Kelvin's entire being!

Penelope's words... were reminiscing about the past, even giving him instructions!

"How will you handle it?" Penelope asked, "Are you going to shoot Brandon? If he dies, does that mean it never happened?"

"Kelvin, Brandon is a victim, too."

"None of us is at fault. The one at fault... is the person who orchestrated all this."

As she spoke, Penelope raised her hand and touched Kelvin's face, "We can't get past this. So, let's get a divorce."

She finally said it out loud.

Even though Kelvin had stopped her earlier... and warned her!

Kelvin's eyes grew dark and intense.

He heard the word "divorce"!

"Penelope," Kelvin began, "Take back what you just said. I'll pretend I didn't hear it."

But she stubbornly said, "Let's get a divorce, Kelvin."

After what happened, how could she stay by his side, how could they return to the way things were?

Penelope had only ever been with Kelvin, and she wouldn't allow another man to touch her.

But she never imagined that her body would end up with Brandon.

It was Brandon... What could she do to Brandon? What could Kelvin do to Brandon?

Besides, Brandon had passed out! He wasn't even conscious!

"Penelope!" Kelvin's voice grew sharp, "Do you know what you're saying?"

"I know, but we have to get a divorce. We can only get a divorce..."

Penelope's voice grew more choked as she spoke.

She lowered her head slightly, looking at the hem of their clothes.

Once so close, now so distant.

She even felt that their clothes touching was inappropriate, so she reached out and separated them.

Seeing Penelope's action, Kelvin's heart ached deeply.

What could he do with her?

Scold her?

Lock her up to calm her down for a few days?

Kelvin couldn't do any of that!

Her pain was his pain, tenfold!

"I won't agree to a divorce, never." Kelvin said seriously, "Penelope, we've come this far, every step so difficult. How could I let go and let you leave me?"

Without Penelope, Kelvin was just a shell, a soulless being! Life would be meaningless!

"Do you remember when you jumped into the sea and left me, gone for four years? Penelope, every day and night of those four years was torture for me!"

Kelvin didn't want to live through that again!

His hair had turned silver for her.

Every step of his life plan included her!

Back then, he thought Penelope was dead, and he couldn't have her.

Now... he knew she was alive, she was well, how could he let go?

Divorce, don't even think about it!

"Penelope, you and I... together in life, together in death!" Kelvin gripped her shoulders, his strength unintentionally increasing.

Penelope cried out softly, and he realized, quickly loosening his grip, but then forcefully pulling her into his arms.

She pushed against his chest, struggling, resisting, unwilling to stay in his embrace.

Kelvin held her tightly, his hand cupping the back of her head.

"Don't think about leaving me, don't try to walk away from me... Penelope, don't even think about it in this life! Or the next!"

In his arms, she closed her eyes.

But only for a second, Penelope opened her eyes again and struggled anew!

"Let go, don't touch me, Kelvin..." She pounded his chest, "I'm not worth it, you should give up on me!"

"If you're not worth it, then who is?"

"There are plenty of women in the world, you can have anyone you want... Forget about me. Kelvin, forget about me."

No one knew how much it hurt Penelope to say those words.

She was pushing Kelvin away, pushing away her husband, the one man she loved more than anyone else.

Kelvin whispered in her ear, "But there's only one Penelope in the world."

That sentence broke Penelope completely.

He still loved her so much, treated her so well, cherished her as his one and only treasure.

She began to cry, "Why, Kelvin... why do you love me so much, why does God play such a cruel joke on me. Giving me the best of you, but making this happiness so short-lived... why... letting me experience it, but not letting me keep it forever!"

"I'm sorry, Kelvin, I'm sorry... I didn't know this would happen. I was just having dinner with Thessaly, how did I end up at a hotel with Brandon, sleeping together..."
