Chapter 1086 How Could It Be Cancer

"I'll let Paul go, he'll let me go, and I'll let myself go. That's it," Thessaly said.

"Mr. Davis, I just need some time to heal. After all these ups and downs, I'm exhausted. But like you said, I need a month off to get myself back together."

Kelvin replied, "I hope this month will completely restore you."

"I'll do my best."

"If it were someone truly worth it, I might try to convince you otherwise. But Brandon isn't worth it," Kelvin glanced at her, "You deserve better."

Thessaly looked at him.

After a long pause, she asked, "What is better?"

Kelvin frowned slightly.

He was always slow when it came to matters of the heart. In his life, he had only met one Penelope.

Moreover, he wasn't good at comforting Thessaly.

Kelvin's comfort was reserved for Penelope!

Thessaly seemed to be talking to herself, "Penelope also said I deserve better, but no one tells me where to find it. In this vast world, how do I sift through the crowd to find the right one?"

"Is it possible that I might never find my destined person?"

"Mr. Davis, you're seen as the perfect man by everyone—wealthy, tall, handsome, and loyal, loving only one person for a lifetime. Why did you choose Penelope as your life partner? What attracted you to her?"

"Would a gentleman like you really fall in love with me? Am I worthy of love?"

As she spoke, tears welled up in Thessaly's eyes.

Kelvin knew all about her experiences, so she didn't need to hide or be strong in front of him.

Seeing her tears, Kelvin's frown deepened.

After a while, he said, "The one who suits you best is the better one."

"Honestly, I don't know what kind of person suits me. Maybe I'll end up alone for the rest of my life."

Kelvin put down his fork, wanting to say something but choosing silence instead.

"Haha," Thessaly laughed, "Forget I said anything, Mr. Davis. I was just venting. How's your health? Brandon didn't try anything, did he?"

"My illness, what could he do?"

Thessaly replied, "I don't know, but I feel like he won't let it go so easily."

"I'll be discharged in a couple of days," Kelvin said, taking a sip of water. "It's fine."

"That's good."

Though Thessaly was still a bit puzzled and worried, she felt reassured by Kelvin's words.

Kelvin's abilities far surpassed hers!

But... if Kelvin's condition was just a minor issue, why did Brandon come to the hospital?

The more she thought about it, the more confused she became.

And just then, Kelvin issued a subtle hint for her to leave.

"Do you have anything else?" he asked, "Your month off starts tomorrow. In a month, Penelope and I hope to see a new you."

"Nothing else. I hope you recover soon, Mr. Davis. I'll be going now."

"Alright."

Kelvin responded absentmindedly, his mind elsewhere.

He was more concerned about what Cameron wanted to discuss with Penelope.

Kelvin's primary doctor had been replaced with someone he trusted, and he had already made all the necessary arrangements.

There shouldn't be any mistakes.

His illness couldn't be made public!

In Cameron's office.

"Mrs. Davis, you're here," Cameron said, "Please, have a seat."

Penelope looked at him, puzzled.

"What's going on, Mrs. Davis?"

"I remember... the doctor who operated on Kelvin wasn't you," Penelope scrutinized him. "Did I mistake you for someone else? Or has there been a change?"

Cameron chuckled, "Yes, the director assigned me to treat Mr. Davis. I'm more specialized and have more experience in cardiopulmonary care."

"But isn't the doctor who performed the surgery the one most familiar with his condition?"

"That was my colleague. He will continue to follow up on Mr. Davis's condition. Rest assured, Mrs. Davis, we will ensure Mr. Davis recovers and is discharged soon."

Penelope nodded, "I see..."

Cameron adjusted his glasses and looked away, feeling a bit guilty, and dared not meet her eyes.

Cameron thought, 'Mrs. Davis has such clear and pure eyes; it's hard to deceive her.'

But Mr. Davis had given his instructions, and he had to follow them!

Sigh... he really didn't know what he had done to deserve this punishment.

On one hand, he had taken money to deceive Mr. Davis, falsifying records to say Mr. Davis had lung cancer.

On the other hand, he had to help Mr. Davis deceive Mrs. Davis, saying Mr. Davis was in impeccable health.

It was tough being in his position!

"Doctor, what exactly is my husband's condition now? Have the test results come back?" Penelope asked, "You called me here. Is there something you need to tell me?"

"Yes, I need to discuss Mr. Davis's condition."

Penelope's heart tightened.

She didn't know if what Cameron was about to say would be good or bad.

She felt a bit anxious.

Cameron picked up the medical records and looked at the computer, "Mrs. Davis, although the final lung CT results aren't out yet, the current tests show that Mr. Davis's condition is very good, quite optimistic."

"Unless something unexpected happens, Mr. Davis should be able to leave the hospital this week. I'll prescribe medication for him, and he will need daily infusions, both morning and evening."

"As for the shadow on Mr. Davis's lung..."

Penelope's heart clenched, "What caused that shadow? Could it be... a tumor? Cancer?"

Cameron laughed, "Mrs. Davis, you're overthinking it."

"It's not that serious?"

"Of course not, how could it be cancer?" Cameron said, "Mr. Davis had a long-term smoking habit, so his lungs have some issues, which is normal. After all, he's been a smoker for many years."

Penelope breathed a sigh of relief.

With Cameron's reassurance, her biggest fear was alleviated.

She was terrified that Kelvin might have a terminal illness.

If that were the case, what would she do? What would happen to Sam and Lucy?

Losing her husband, Sam and Lucy losing their father.

A happy family would be shattered!

Thankfully, it was just her overthinking... such terrible things couldn't keep happening to her.

Lucy had already been seriously ill once; she couldn't bear another loved one falling gravely ill.

"Doctor, when the final lung CT results come out, please let me know immediately," Penelope said, "Can you do that?"

"Of course, Mrs. Davis. Please don't worry, Mr. Davis will be fine."

"And what caused his sudden collapse and need for surgery this time?"
