Chapter 809 Tell Me, You Don't Love Brandon

"I just want to be with you, happy forever."

Kelvin stood there, silent, not even looking at her.

Penelope tightened her grip on his arm, holding him close. "I wanted to explain everything to you, but it's like Sam's identity. I wanted to tell you, but I never knew where to start or when was the right moment."

If Isabella hadn't suddenly kidnapped Sam, Sam's identity might have remained hidden for a while longer.

It wasn't that Penelope didn't want to tell him; she just didn't know how!

Every time she tried to muster the courage to speak, something would interrupt her.

And when she finally did tell him, Kelvin didn't believe her!

"Look, when Isabella revealed that Sam is your son, I nodded and admitted it. And what happened?" Penelope said. "What were you thinking? You thought it was a scheme."

"What could I do? Saving Sam was the priority. I planned to come clean with you afterward."

"And now I'm telling you, the person I love has never been Brandon, but you don't believe me."

Penelope let out a long sigh. "This is so hard for me."

Kelvin responded with a cold snort.

"Hey, Kelvin," Penelope said, her temper flaring. "If this is your attitude, then there's nothing more to say between us."

"Is that all it takes for you to give up? Do you have no patience?"

"What more do you want from me?"

Kelvin turned to look at her. "You don't understand. When I heard you say you loved Brandon, you have no idea how I felt. You don't understand the damage those words caused. It's like a curse, constantly reminding me that the person I love most has fallen for another man."

"I... I just spoke without thinking."

"If you don't love him, why say you do?"

Penelope mumbled, "I wanted to divorce you at the time, so I used it as an excuse."

Then she quickly added, "Thank goodness we didn't go through with the divorce, or I would have lost the best husband in the world!"

As cheesy as it sounded, she had to admit, it worked.

Kelvin's expression softened noticeably.

Men really do love sweet talk!

Seeing this, Penelope continued to pour it on. "After everything, the person who has always been by my side is you, always you. Kelvin, how could I possibly love anyone else but you?"

"No other man can compare to you, not even a fraction!"

"You are my husband, my first love. My first kiss was with you. I gave birth to our two children. You hold a unique place in my heart that no one else can replace!"

Kelvin spoke slowly, "Is that the truth?"

"Yes!"

"Besides me, have you ever loved another man? Even a little?"

"No!" Penelope's voice was clear. "Not even a little! My feelings for Brandon are purely platonic!"

As for Brandon's feelings for her...

That was beyond her control!

Besides, she and Brandon were childhood friends; she barely remembered those days.

In Penelope's childhood memories, Nathan was in most of it.

Just as Nathan's name flashed through her mind, Kelvin asked, "You never loved Nathan? Wasn't he your first love?"

Penelope's heart skipped a beat.

Of all things, this was what she feared most!

She swallowed hard. "He..."

"When you were young, you promised to marry Brandon, and later you were engaged to Nathan." Kelvin's eyes narrowed slightly. "Penelope, I really underestimated you. Your romantic history is quite extensive!"

Penelope pouted.

Kelvin's fingers gently pinched her chin. "Hmm? Not talking?"

She met his gaze. "I'm just thinking about how to describe my relationship with Nathan. I don't want to lie to you. I need a moment to find the right words."

As soon as Penelope finished speaking, she could see the jealousy in Kelvin's eyes fade significantly.

Honesty is always the best policy!

"Actually, Nathan and I..." Penelope thought for a moment. "There were feelings involved."

"That's the answer you came up with?"

"Listen to me." Penelope looked at him. "We grew up together. He took care of me, was gentle and considerate, tall, handsome, and clean. What girl wouldn't have a crush on a boy like that during her teenage years?"

"Later, our engagement was arranged by the Cooper family and the Smith family. We grew up together, knew each other well, and it seemed like a perfect match."

"At that time, we were both young and didn't understand what love truly was. I never really loved anyone. My feelings for Nathan were just a youthful crush."

"That crush never had a chance to blossom. You know what happened next. I met you, and he was sent abroad by the Smith family. When we met again, everything had changed."

Kelvin said calmly, "If I hadn't appeared, you would have continued with him and married him, right?"

"Yes," Penelope replied. "But there's no 'if.' Kelvin, you did appear."

His thumb gently stroked her chin, moving slowly to the corner of her eye.

"Penelope."

"Yes?"

"Look into my eyes," Kelvin said. "And tell me you don't love Brandon."

Penelope did as he asked.

Their eyes locked.

"I don't love Brandon. There's no romantic feeling between us. My relationship with Nathan was just youthful ignorance."

Kelvin was satisfied and continued to guide her. "Good. Now, say the person you love is me."

Penelope's cheeks flushed.

She was naturally reserved, easily embarrassed, and not good at expressing her love boldly.

"I love you" was not something she said lightly.

"Not saying it?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow.

"You... you understand, don't you?"

Kelvin's voice was husky. "I understand in my heart, but my ears want to hear it."

Penelope quickly glanced at Sam.

At that moment, Sam was engrossed in his tablet, watching cartoons, not paying attention to them.

Otherwise, with his chatterbox nature, he would definitely tease Penelope to death!

She pushed against Kelvin's chest. "Our son is right here. Be mindful."

Kelvin leaned closer, his lips brushing her ear. "Then say it quietly. I'll come closer to listen."

Penelope's heart raced.

Thump, thump, thump.

This man was too good at seduction!

How could she resist when he was like this?

"Say it." Kelvin's hand rested on her waist, giving a gentle squeeze.

Penelope, ticklish, shrank back, leaning deeper into his embrace.

"You know it, why do you need to hear it..."
