Chapter 32

"Just being alive is a blessing," Penelope said, looking down.

Monica asked, "Penelope, what have you been through? Can you tell me?"

Penelope was quiet for a few seconds, then nodded.

She shared her story, and Monica listened, tears streaming down her face.

"It's all in the past," Penelope said, wiping Monica's tears. "Look, I'm here, and I'm okay."

Timothy stepped out of the elevator and froze. "What happened? Who made Monica cry?"

"It was me," Penelope said with a sigh. "Mr. Foster, I'll leave her to you. I have some designs to work on."

"I don't know how to comfort women!" Timothy said, looking at Monica, completely clueless.

This woman, who was usually tougher than him, crying was really throwing him off.

"Stop crying," Timothy tried, rubbing his hands together awkwardly. "You're acting like a girl."

Monica shot back, "Timothy, I am a girl!"

Timothy sighed, "Alright, alright, I get it. Let me tell you a secret."

Monica sniffled, "What?"

"It's about Kelvin and Penelope," Timothy said with a smug look. "I found out everything, and it took a lot of effort!"

Monica shook her head, "No need."

The frustration of having a secret and not being able to share it was killing him!

Timothy insisted, "Why not?"

Monica replied, "Penelope just told me everything."

"Men are all unfaithful!" Monica said angrily.

Timothy quickly waved his hands. "Not all men are like Kelvin."

"True, there are good men. But you, Timothy, are definitely not one of them," Monica snorted. "You and Mr. Davis are so close, which means you're the same kind of unfaithful man!"

After saying this, Monica stomped on Timothy's foot and stormed off.

Timothy shouted, "I'm innocent!"

He wasn't unfaithful!

Kelvin had really messed things up for him!

In the CEO's office, Kelvin looked towards the door. "Grandpa Liam."

Liam, leaning on a cane, was being supported by Lily.

"I was passing by and thought I'd check on you," Liam said. "I also watched the 'Adoring Cupid' press conference this morning. Kelvin, you have a great business mind. I believe this will become another pillar for the Davis Group."

Kelvin nodded. "Of course, I'll manage it well and lead the Davis Group to greater heights."

Liam replied, "Yes, but having so many responsibilities is tiring."

Kelvin smiled, "Grandpa Liam, there's more to your words."

"Since you understand, I'll be direct," Liam said, looking at Kelvin. "Your brother Anthony Davis is about to graduate and come home. When he does, you can hand 'Adoring Cupid' over to him."

"That's not happening," Kelvin refused immediately.

Was a half-brother still considered a brother? Kelvin didn't acknowledge Anthony!

Lily, hearing his blunt refusal, got anxious. "Kelvin, you need to give Anthony a chance to show his abilities."

Kelvin insisted, "He doesn't have the ability to manage Adoring Cupid."

Lily tried to persuade him, "If you don't let him try, how do you know he can't?"

"Don't you know what kind of person your own son is?" Kelvin's face turned cold. "He's nothing but a useless playboy!"

Lily couldn't argue and turned to Liam for help. "What should we do?"

"Take your time discussing it. Kelvin, don't be so quick to reject," Liam said. "After all, we're family. Let's not mess up our harmony."

Liam, being old, just wanted peace and to be surrounded by his family.

Vincent was gone, but at least he had two grandsons.

Especially Kelvin, who was super capable and a natural leader, which made Liam very happy.

"No discussion," Kelvin said firmly. "Whether he wants to take credit or mess with the company, it's not happening!"

Lily asked, "Does everything in the Davis Family have to be in your hands?"

"Yes. Unless you have the ability to take it from me," Kelvin replied coldly, giving her a warning look.

This was his warning and his declaration of war.

He knew all about the tricks Lily was playing behind the scenes!

Lily tried to get Audrey, who was close to her, to marry him and even poisoned the soup sent to him daily.

"Alright," Liam changed the subject. "Kelvin, there is one more thing. You and Penelope are married now, so you need to do what you should do."

Kelvin asked, "What do you mean?"

Liam explained, "To carry on the family line! You're already about twenty-seven; it's time to have a child!"

Kelvin frowned.

Was he going to have Penelope bear his child? No way!

Kelvin insisted, "Grandpa Liam, she's Dr. Cooper's daughter, our family's enemy!"

Liam retorted, "You knew that, yet you still married her? Now that you're married, she must fulfill her duties as your wife!"

Kelvin responded, "I will have children, but not with Penelope."

Liam questioned, "Then when do you plan to? I'm old and just want to see my great-grandchildren soon! Otherwise, when I'm dead, even if you have a bunch of kids, I won't be able to see them!"

Kelvin replied indifferently, "I can bring them to your grave then, so you can see them more."

"You're trying to anger me to death!" Liam banged his cane heavily, extremely angry, and turned to leave.

Kelvin instructed, "Ryan, see Grandpa out."

Ryan nodded. "Yes, Mr. Davis."

Lily, however, didn't move and rubbed her hands together.

"You're not leaving?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Stop thinking about getting your useless son a position in the Davis Group. I will never agree."

Lily didn't give up. "Mr. Liam Davis said to discuss it slowly. You might agree in the future."

Lily also understood that the Davis Family was now under Kelvin's control, and he had the final say.

What she wanted had to be obtained slowly; being impatient was useless.

After all, she was Kelvin's stepmother and had given the Davis Family a son, so her position was secure.

The rest would have to be planned slowly; the one who laughed last, laughed best.

"Kelvin," Lily said with a smile. "I saw in the news that you spent a fortune at a charity auction to buy a diamond bracelet."

Kelvin admitted, "Yes."

Lily asked, "Why did you buy it?"

Kelvin replied impatiently, "I just wanted to."

"It's a women's bracelet, and you can't wear it," Lily suggested. "Why not give it to me?"

Kelvin asked, "Do you want it?"

It's just a diamond bracelet. He could understand Penelope wanting it since it was her mother's.

But why did Fiona and Lily want it so badly?

Lily nodded repeatedly. "Yes, I think the diamond is excellent."

Kelvin spoke, "If you like it, go buy one at the mall."

Lily insisted, "That's different. I just like that one."

Kelvin glanced at her. "No way."
