Chapter 1097 Mommy, You Admit Fault First

Penelope grabbed the paper and suddenly remembered something. "Oh!"

"What's up?" Kelvin asked.

Cameron also looked at Penelope, confused.

"Didn't we say before that Kelvin's lung had a shadow?" Penelope said. "The results should be out by now, right? Why hasn't anyone told me? I almost forgot about it."

She had been having so much fun with Kelvin every day that she had completely forgotten about such an important matter.

Additionally, Kelvin appeared to be perfectly healthy, showing no signs of illness. He loved to tease her, making her hit him playfully, and she often forgot he was a patient in the hospital!

Cameron was stunned for a moment and quickly glanced at Kelvin.

Kelvin's expression remained calm.

"Well..." Cameron said, "The results are out, of course. I..."

At that moment, Kelvin interrupted, "Cameron told me."

Penelope turned to look at him. "You?"

"Yeah, they showed me the scans and results. Everything is fine, completely normal."

"But I remember the doctor who came out of the operating room said your lung had a shadow and it looked serious!"

Penelope thought for a moment, feeling uneasy. "Could there have been a communication issue between the previous doctor and Cameron? How could it be normal if there was clearly a shadow?"

Kelvin couldn't answer such a professional question.

He could only look at Cameron and give him a meaningful glance.

You'd better explain this well, make it sound good. If you slip up...

Kelvin would not let it slide!

Cameron received Kelvin's look and immediately spoke up. "No, no, Mrs. Davis. Mr. Davis's treatment involved the previous doctor throughout. We communicated very well."

"What about the lung shadow..."

"It was a machine error," Cameron said. "I did another check on Mr. Davis later, and there was no shadow at all."

Penelope was getting more confused. "Another check? When did that happen? How come I didn't know?"

She had been in the hospital room with Kelvin almost all the time, hardly leaving his side!

At this point, Kelvin needed to step in and help.

"The night you went back to The King Manor, I had the recheck," Kelvin said. "I didn't want you to worry, so I didn't tell you. Right, Cameron?"

Cameron nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes."

Penelope remembered.

She had only gone back to The King Manor for one night, and it was then that Kelvin had the recheck.

"So that's how it is." Penelope felt relieved. "As long as everything is fine, that's good."

Cameron replied, "Of course, everything is fine. Mr. Davis can be discharged now. He's completely healthy."

Penelope wanted to say something, but Kelvin had already taken her hand. "Let's go."

He didn't want to stay here any longer!

Even though he knew he would come back.

But the next time... maybe, probably, he wouldn't be able to leave again.

He would stay here until the end of his life, until life's final moment drew its ultimate breath!

The King Manor.

Sam and Lucy were leaning against the window.

The house was warm, like spring.

Outside, it was freezing cold, with the wind howling.

Because of the temperature difference, the window was covered with a thick layer of fog.

But Sam and Lucy kept wiping it away so they could see outside.

After a while, the fog would return, and they would wipe it again.

From this spot, they could directly see the gate of The King Manor!

"Daddy and Mommy will be back soon," Lucy murmured. "I haven't seen them in so long. I miss them so much. Sam, do you miss them?"

"Not really."

"Come on, you miss them."

Sam rested his chin on his hand and wiped the fog off the glass with his sleeve. "I'm just bored, okay? Spending every day with you and taking care of your feelings is exhausting. When Mom comes back, I can play freely and not have to look after you."

Lucy pouted. "When did I ask you to look after me? You're only... a few minutes older than me!"

"But I'm still older. You'll always have to call me big brother."

Lucy huffed and turned her head away.

Those few minutes decided who was the boss and who was the second!

Sam always used this to boss her around!

Lucy wished she were the older sister!

Jeff watched Sam and Lucy's small figures and smiled, not wanting to disturb them.

They were eagerly waiting for Kelvin and Penelope to come home!

After a while, the gate slowly opened.

A black car slowly drove in.

"They're back, they're back!" Lucy said excitedly. "It's Daddy and Mommy's car!"

The car stopped in front of the villa, and the door opened. Kelvin got out first, then turned to help Penelope out.

"Careful," he said. "Why didn't you button up? It's cold outside."

As he spoke, he adjusted her collar.

"It's fine, it's just a few steps."

Penelope jumped out of the car and quickly walked into the villa.

"Sam, Lucy!" She called out before even entering. "We're back! Where are you?"

Sam and Lucy were still at the window, but their little heads turned to look at her.

"What are you doing there?" Penelope asked. "Aren't you happy to see me? Aren't you coming over to hug me?"

Lucy was tempted to go over, but suddenly remembered something and stopped.

Penelope raised an eyebrow. "Lucy? What's wrong?"

"Mommy..."

"Mommy's here, sweetie. Tell me what's wrong."

Seeing Lucy about to give in, Sam quickly spoke up. "Mom, you need to reflect on yourself first."

Penelope looked confused. "Reflect? What did I do?"

"You don't know what you did wrong?"

"I..." Penelope wanted to say she didn't know, but thought better of it. "Tell me, what did I do wrong?"

Sam wouldn't fall for her trick. "You need to reflect on yourself! Don't expect me to tell you!"

Lucy nodded in agreement. "Sam's right, Mommy. You need to admit your mistake first."

Penelope was at a loss and looked at Kelvin for help.

Save her!

She had always been highly regarded by Sam and Lucy, but today they were teaming up against her!

This wasn't normal... What did she do?

"You haven't figured it out yet?" Kelvin reminded her. "I went on a business trip, and you followed me."
