Chapter 462 Could this be Penelope's Son?

"It's complicated," Penelope replied. "Talking about it now is pointless. I got two kids with him already."

Brandon's eyes went dark.

Yeah, she got two kids now.

If only he'd met her sooner.

If only he'd come before Kelvin.

She could've dodged the whole nightmare of her marriage, and he could've been there to protect her!

His Penelope, right there in front of him, was someone else's wife.

Brandon wondered if they could ever go back to how things were.

Could they still make that marriage contract happen?

Penelope's first half of life was rough; he wanted to make the second half sweet.

Only sweetness, so sweet it'd be overwhelming.

Because she deserved it, and because she should've had all this good stuff in her life!

Penelope glanced at him. "Brandon, why'd you bring this up all of a sudden?"

"Nothing," Brandon said. "Just feels like every time you get close to Kelvin, it's the start of bad luck."

Nearby, Connor watched the scene, totally clued in.

Back then, Brandon looked at Penelope like a friend, maybe a bit more than a friend, but not quite a lover.

But now, Brandon's gaze was totally different.

For over twenty years, Penelope was the one Brandon cared about the most, the one he couldn't forget for over twenty years!

The affection in Brandon's eyes was obvious, almost spilling over!

Connor cut in, "Penelope, let's head back."

Penelope smiled at Brandon and waved. "Bye."

"Bye." Brandon stood there until the car vanished, the road empty, still not wanting to look away.

That was his Ms. Mitchell.

He wanted so bad to tell her he'd been looking for her, waiting for her, and that in his heart, there was always a spot just for her, and no one could take it!

He married Isabella only because he'd only marry a daughter of the Mitchell family.

And Isabella was the adopted daughter of the Mitchell family!

In the distance, behind a big tree.

Isabella saw everything clear as day.

'What's the deal between Sam and Penelope?'

'They both got the last name Cooper!'

'Could Sam be Penelope's son?'

Thinking about it, Isabella was so shocked her mouth hung open, unable to process it.

But then she thought again and felt it was unlikely.

Penelope only had one daughter, Lucy. If she had a son, why hide him and let him stay with the Walker family?

Rich families always valued lineage, especially boys, who could take over the family business and become the next head of the family!

Penelope had no reason to hide it! With a son, she'd be set for life, enjoying endless wealth and prosperity!

"I didn't hear Sam call Penelope 'Mom,' it sounded like he called her 'Penelope'?" Isabella muttered to herself. "Maybe I'm overthinking it. How could Penelope be so lucky to have both a daughter and a son, twins!"

What Isabella cared more about was Brandon lying to her!

He said he was going for a walk and had something to do, but what was the result?

Why did Brandon hide it from her? Why wouldn't he tell her anything related to Penelope?

No, this couldn't go on. Isabella had to find out what Brandon and Penelope were up to!

Watching Brandon turn and walk away, Isabella quickly ducked out of sight and took a side path back to the Walker family, acting like nothing happened.

A low-key white car cruised down the road and finally pulled up in the Cooper family's garden.

Music filled the whole yard.

Sam was happily humming along.

With Penelope and Connor by his side, he was the happiest kid in the world right then!

The once-quiet villa was now buzzing with life thanks to Sam.

After taking a bath, Penelope came out of the bathroom and saw Sam leaning against the door, holding something, looking at her eagerly.

She thought Sam wanted to sleep in the same room as her.

"No, you can't," Penelope said. "You're almost four years old, and you're a strong and brave little boy. You can sleep alone at night."

"I know. I came to give you a gift," Sam explained.

"A gift?" Penelope said.

Sam quickly ran in and, like showing off a treasure, held out what he was carrying. "Penelope, look!"

Penelope looked closely and saw a glass jar filled with colorful little stars.

All of them were handwoven.

She took it. "Sam, did you make these stars yourself?"

"Yeah, do you like it?" Sam asked. "Girls like shiny, colorful things, right? Even though you're my mommy, you're still a girl, a young girl!"

Penelope held the glass jar in both hands.

When she shook the jar slightly, the stars inside tumbled, reflecting a beautiful rainbow of colors.

"Thank you, Sam," Penelope said. "I really like this gift."

Sam, looking very smug but pretending to be casual, said, "It's nothing. The teacher taught me once, and I learned it right away. I made it especially for you."

"This whole jar must have taken you a long time to make?" Penelope asked.

"Not really," Sam wouldn't admit it. "I made them casually. Whenever I missed you, I made one."

Penelope's eyes glistened with tears.

So many stars, how many times must Sam have missed her.

She felt even more guilty. Ever since Lucy was diagnosed with leukemia, most of her energy and time had been spent on Lucy, neglecting Sam for a long time.

Seeing her tears, Sam immediately changed his tune. "Of course, I didn't just miss you. When I missed Lucy, I made one too!"

Penelope sniffed, holding the glass jar in one hand and lifting him onto her lap with the other.

"I miss you too," Penelope said. "Every night before bed, I think about what you ate today, how your studies are going, if you finished the homework the teacher assigned, and if you listened to Ruby."

"Yes, I'm very well-behaved!" Sam said.

Penelope smiled, "Are you used to living with the Walker family? You didn't cause Uncle Brandon any trouble, did you?" Penelope asked.

"Uncle Brandon is very good to me. He said to treat it like my own home. He often helps me with my homework and checks my homework, and sometimes even when I'm about to sleep, he hasn't left yet. He just keeps watching me, I don't know what he's thinking," Sam said.
