Chapter 923 Thessaly, You Are a Good Girl
"Penelope," Kelvin called out again, "come here."
This time, he opened his arms wide.
His embrace was open, just for her!
"I want you to come to me willingly, just like before, no different," Kelvin said. "Just like before."
Penelope was taken aback and met his gaze. "Like... before?"
Was it what she thought it meant?
Everything, exactly like before, unchanged by what happened last night?
"Yes," Kelvin replied firmly and directly. "Come here, Penelope, come to me."
He wasn't walking over to take her hand because he wanted her to come to him on her own.
He was waiting for her.
Because the old Penelope would always happily run into his arms!
Now... Penelope wanted to go to him, but hesitated.
She felt dirty.
Kelvin didn't say anything more but kept his arms open, waiting for her.
They stood there, locked in a stalemate.
Time ticked by, and finally, Penelope couldn't bear the torment in her heart any longer. She slowly took steps towards him.
As she hesitated about whether to throw herself into his arms, Kelvin pulled her tightly into his embrace.
"Let's go home," he said solemnly into her ear.
Penelope's throat tightened with emotion.
With great difficulty, she managed to say, "...Okay."
Kelvin held her close, letting her lean against him, and turned to leave the rundown place.
This place... shouldn't exist!
A car was waiting at the entrance. As soon as the driver saw Kelvin and Penelope, he immediately stepped forward to open the back door.
Before driving away, Kelvin glanced back.
This motel... would soon be gone! It would disappear from LA forever!
Kelvin would never allow a place that had caused such deep harm to him and Penelope to remain intact!
It had to be destroyed!
Penelope quietly leaned against him, not saying a word.
However, her closeness wasn't as intimate as it had been before.
There was still a barrier between them.
Kelvin's eyes flashed with intense anger!
Five minutes later, Thessaly came downstairs.
She was wrapped up tightly, only her eyes visible.
As she was about to leave, she heard a commotion and saw a large group of bodyguards entering.
Thessaly hid to the side.
"You...," the motel owner stammered, "why are you back?"
Hadn't they left?
What had he done to deserve this? Why had so many things happened in one night, like a movie?
He was just running a small business!
The lead bodyguard waved his hand. "Demolish it."
"What?" the motel owner screamed. "No! You can't demolish it... this is my property..."
"Davis Group has acquired this entire area, especially your building," the bodyguard said. "If you want compensation, go to the Davis Group's finance department and talk to the director!"
The motel owner was stunned, unable to react.
Thessaly listened quietly, pulled her hat down, and left the motel.
Kelvin was protective of his wife... As soon as he left, he arranged for the acquisition and demolition. It looked like he intended to flatten the entire place!
Not a trace of its former self would remain!
Which was good. For Thessaly, this place was a lifelong nightmare.
Once it was demolished and rebuilt... the place in her memories would no longer exist.
She walked quickly, head down, arms wrapped around herself, rubbing her arms.
Suddenly, someone blocked her path.
The man's polished shoes gleamed, spotless.
"Thessaly."
She froze and looked up at the man in front of her.
Brandon.
Before last night, Thessaly had a bit of admiration and feelings for Brandon.
Maybe, after spending more time together, she would grow to appreciate him more, and he would see her strengths, and they might end up together.
But now, Thessaly knew... she was no longer worthy of Brandon.
Brandon looked at her, a hint of pity in his eyes. "You and Paul..."
Thessaly trembled, instinctively stepping back several paces, pressing against the wall. "I don't want to hear that name!"
"Are you still planning to act in the movie?"
She bit her lip, saying nothing.
Of course, she wanted to act.
A great script, a renowned director, a big production—resources that many actresses would fight for. Now it was in her hands; was she supposed to give it up?
But how could she act?
Thessaly felt nauseated just thinking about Paul!
How could she have had sex with a man she didn't even like?
"Do it," Brandon said. "Only you can play this role. I'll double your pay."
Thessaly shook her head. "It's not about the pay..."
"I understand. Last night..."
Brandon didn't finish.
They both knew.
"Brandon," Thessaly suddenly looked up and met his gaze. "Paul and I did have sex. But you and Penelope... did you?"
"What do you think?"
"Not likely. You were both unconscious, lost awareness, so probably... nothing happened."
Brandon said, "You lost awareness, too."
"But Paul didn't!" Thessaly replied. "He was fully conscious! He was just knocked out!"
Brandon's eyes flashed with coldness and impatience.
Why did Thessaly have to question it, too?
If he said it happened, then it happened!
Thessaly was lost in her thoughts, not noticing Brandon's expression.
She continued, "The three of us first met in the lobby... You didn't touch the food, just drank a glass of water. Was the water tampered with?"
"We were in the private room for a short time and didn't touch anything there. First, you started feeling dizzy, then Penelope, and finally me..."
"Paul was fine, which means the private room was safe!"
Brandon suddenly interrupted her. "Let me take you home."
"Take me?" Thessaly was still confused.
"Yes." Brandon nodded. "In a way... Penelope and I dragged you into this. Although I haven't started investigating what happened last night, I can tell it was aimed at Penelope and me. You were innocent."
"Penelope said the same thing."
"I feel guilty," Brandon said, pressing his lips together. "You could have stayed out of it, not been involved. Thessaly, you're a good girl."
His tone was full of regret and sympathy.
Thessaly's dry eyes suddenly became wet again.
